It blew through here around 11am, and they said it was moving approximately 70mph. I haven't heard any damage reports yet, but as a lot of storms have lately, it seemed to split and bypass north and south of downtown Fort Wayne. I only experienced some brief noisy winds and heavy rain, with no lightning that I'm aware of. My internet connection went down very briefly, but that's all I experienced. Earlier, one report on radio said as many as 60,000 households were without power farther to the west, and after it passed through here there were a bunch of tornado warnings for northwest Ohio.

Well THAT was disappointing.  I haven't even seen any thunder or lightening yet!

In solon and its just hitting us. Looks like armageddon

I mean, there was wind (and now I'm wishing I would've removed the wreath from my front door this morning).  But it wasn't what I'd consider to be a severe thunderstorm!  You can't have a thunderstorm without thunder!

Franklin County had a Tornado Warning. All the sirens went off and everything but nothing happened anywhere near me. I'm pissed.

Well he wasn't that good in bed if he wanted to take over the Korean Peninsula.

Or maybe being good in bed made him overconfident.

I know. It's like when the mindless mannequin on the 11pm weather breathlessly forecasts the Blizzard of the Century and panicking hordes descend upon the grocery stores and strip the coolers of milk and the shelves of bread and toilet paper, and in the morning there's inches of fluffy snow that's all gone by 10am.  :-(

Haha. Yeah. People are ridiculous. People in the media really acted like this was supposed to be the Tornado of the Century which was supposed to spawn out of some obscure weather pattern resembling a hurricane. It was supposed to be a once in a lifetime thing. It failed to deliver. Boo!

Btw, Rob, you know a lot about technical stuff. I got this basic black antenna thing - nothing more than an antenna sitting on a thin base and the end of the cord attached is the male part of a cable line. Is this a broadband signal booster? Do you know? I can't find the model number online, I have no idea where it even goes; whether it's the back of a cable modem, a cable outlet, the back of a tv, etc.  :wtf: I'm curious what this thing is, if anyone knows.

Sounds like it could be the antenna for a wireless card designed for a desktop computer.

I swear you're going to end up on Hoarders!

I don't think I have any use for it; I'm just curious what it is. I don't hoard junk. You're talking about my grand parents. They built a GIANT new barn with electric, heating and cooling the whole nine just to store their junk. They also have another 3 car garage and a basement full of junk. Plus a couple small sheds. Just to give you an indication of their hoarding habits, they have a room I didn't even know existed in the basement and it's full of giant chunks of coal from back in the 30s or whenever it was used.

No clue from the description. You might take it to a Radio Shack store and ask one of the people there if they know what it is, or just look on their web site or another electronics web site for antennas, and see if there's something that looks like it.

Bah, it's not that important. Just thought it was strange the model number didn't show up online. I've looked up some random stuff online; a friggin makers' mark on an antique pewter spoon gave me where it was manufactured and when but I type in the model number for a new electronic device and get nothing!

It's not a complete product, it's a part of a product so 99.99% of the applicable web covering electronic doohickeys don't keep track of parts of products but products.  But yeah, unless you or someone in your family is into or was in the past into CB radio it's a wireless extension for a wireless router (or modem/router combo) or for a Desktop Wireless NIC.

Thank you Loretto! Case closed lol

Has anyone gone to the Mansfield Reformatory for Halloween? Is it worth going to? Does its commercialization take away from actually getting scared? I'd rather go on one of their ghost hunts but they don't do it very often and it costs over 60 dollars - that's a little ridiculous. Stuff like that should be free when you risk bringing demons home with you. They probably have all these lame policies about not antagonizing the ghosts, too.  :x

^I went to it last year and it was not that scary (IMO), but the year before I thought it was great. So, it varies year to year and it depends on what night you go. On a crowded night it won't be that great because you might catch up with the group that is in front of you, which ruins the fun. The commercialization might take away some of the fear for some people, so it really depends on the person. I don't know much about the ghost hunts, but I think that it would be worth the price.

Just booked my vacation flights for $160 (SW promo).  Always have this love hate relationship with discount tickets.  Half of me is pretty sure the plane isn't going to make it all the way to Florida.  The other half is excited because I'll be able to spend a lot more money on food and booze.

FL? I guess it depends on where you're going and what you'll do there.

I'll be visiting friends and relatives in Orlando and Miami.

Not sure if there's a smartphone thread or not but whatever.  Who has the Droid Incredible?  If so, how do you like it?  I'm probably making the jump to an Android phone pretty soon and I am trying to choose.  I'm also looking at the Samsung Fascinate. I have two friends, one with the Fascinate, and one with the Incredible and both phones are pretty awesome.  Anyone have any problems with either phone?  My main concern is the keyboard because I have a Voyager and I LOVE the physical qwerty keyboard.

If you want a keyboard go with the motorola droid, it can type on screen or via keyboard. In fact I'm posting from my phone right now...

^Yeah I was just talking to a friend who has that. He said he got so used to the keyboard on his old Eris that he barely uses the physical keyboard on his Droid. I think I'm going to play around a little more before I get the Incredible. I really want that phone.

I never use the physical keyboard on the Droid either - virtual keyboard with word completion is just easier to me.  I would easily transition to something with only the touchscreen next time.

Voter Intimidation At McDonald's: Employees Told That, Unless Republicans Win, They Won't Get Raises Or Benefits

WASHINGTON -- There may be something rotten at McDonald's -- and it's not a year-old Happy Meal.

The owner of a franchise in Canton, Ohio enclosed a handbill in employees' paychecks that threatened lower wages and benefits if Republicans don't win on Tuesday.

Wow, what a dumb businessman.  I thought everybody in management and above knew to never put that in writing but just to drop hints verbally.  That's been my experience anyway.

Well, in all fairness if the Republicans don't get a majority in the house and stop the Democrats from ruining the country, those employees probably will fall on hard times, as will all of is.

I mean, let's be real here.

Pass them chicken tenders!  *LAWD JESUS* I LOVES ME SOME HARDEE'S NEWEST CHICKEN TENDERS!  CHRIST LAWD MOHAMMED SHIVA!

Harrah's pressure employees to vote for Harry Reid

November 2nd, 2010 12:46 pm PT

Elizabeth Crum reported today at National Review Online that Harrah's casino executives pushed company employees to vote early in an all-out effort to help Harry Reid win the midterm election in Nevada.

Internal emails obtained by NRO exposed the effort, which began last Wednesday.  A Reid staffer first contacted Jan Jones, a lobbyist for Harrah’s.  The email was later distributed to executives throughout the company.
