December 19, 201014 yr I'm melting over this picture right now: SPACEFUNK on Flickr I miss The Nati :( I used to go to bars and stuff all the time down there! As much as I love Columbus and all that it has to offer, I'll always miss OTR and it's architecture. I don't think I've ever seen a neighborhood so dense, intense and ornate than OTR other than on the east coast.
December 19, 201014 yr Another ugly apartment in NYC. I just don't understand how some people have the nerve to over price their apartments but dont try to fix them to sell. On top of that the maintenance fee is $5,700 GIANT WTF! :wtf: :wtf: This place was straight out of the '80s, Laura Ashley and all. Just because your apartment is on Park Avenue, that for damn sure doesn't mean you have taste! In addition it had the "old people with cat smell". The place was so hideous I thought Mrs. Thing No. 2 was going to go into labor. It looks like where the God D@mn Easter Bunny would dwell. I'm too negative of a person for all those bright, spring colors.
December 19, 201014 yr ^^hmmm...can't he see Barney's from his apartment window? No more calls, we have a winner!

December 19, 201014 yr I just like keeping stuff simple. As long as everything is functional, I'm good. I cut my own hair, most of my clothes besides jeans are solid-colored and traditional but good quality so they don't go out of style too quick. I'd never go out and buy wallpaper trim or fancy curtains, table covers or anything like that. I did used to have some really fancy satin sheets for my bed when I had my very first apartment. I impressed a young lady with that, hah! She goes, "Wow, what is this?!" I said, "That's 1000 thread ct. satin (or whatever thread ct. is was) :wink2: " One thing I learned, women love soft fabric. A lot of times when I wear my Merino Sweaters, women start groping my arm, asking me if it's Cashmere. "Uh.. of course!" Ha! I know how to pull it off with the cheaper stuff :) Sorry, I digress. Mucho cafeina.

December 20, 201014 yr Talk about granny decor. Alright. Christmas shopping done. Northface for my dad. Macy's and Crate and Barrel for mom, Anthropologie and Express for my sister and girlfriend What did you get me? I've been good all year! Continued permission to shop on my street. And speaking of impressing women, all I have to say is I live above M.A.C and David Yurman stores and they go crazy. My apartment is close by at their convenience.

December 21, 201014 yr This evening I stopped at Barnes & Noble to see if they had a particular book; Beating Cancer with Nutrition (no problems now, but as a 3X survivor I think it's good to stay ahead of the game). I didn't find it in the Health section, so just to be thorough I looked across the aisle in the Women's Health section. There it was, right next to a book on prostate cancer. I told the guy at the customer service counter about it, and he just smiled and shrugged.

December 23, 201014 yr I gave my entire admistrative staff the day off yesterday. This way they could have an extra day off with pay. It was a complete clusterfuck. I realized how hard thing 1 and 2 work and appreciate all they do to make the office run smoothly. I couldn't find things in my own office. Something that would take a minute, took 20 min. The execs on my staff were WTH, since I did this without their knowledge! I had no time to play on UO. I actually had to carry my blackberry, which I hate. Unfortunately it was dead and took like an hour to update :whip: This was good and bad. I realized I don't know how to make a conference call or make the audio and visual equipment "talk" to one another. Making a restaurant reservation in Manhattan is painful. Lessons learned: Good - as it made the exec's realize how hard their assistants work and that some of us have become out of touch with office policies and administration. Bad - as its counterproductive since nothing gets done. I don't think I'll do this again. However I think I may do an undercover boss type thing. People, self included, need to be a tad bit more self sufficient!
December 23, 201014 yr During my time working for IBM providing on-site IT support for a client, I got a new boss. Soon after his arrival, he joined a small group of us at lunch in the company cafeteria and asked us to point out the client firm's managers and executives, and give him some background. After we gave him the run-down on a few VPs, he asked, "Is there anyone else important here that I should know about?" I told him, "David, if an executive vice-president gets injured or killed or quits, it may take six months to a year or more to replace him or her. In the meantime, everything usually keeps running as usual. The really important people are the hourly-waged ones processing payments and taking phone calls. If one of them quits, HR has to find a replacement ASAP. If they don't, the quality of customer service suffers and that affects everyone's jobs including ours." That was the first time I read disapproval all over his face.
December 23, 201014 yr That was the first time I read disapproval all over his face. I take it, that it wasn't the last time you read disapproval all of his face :) That was very nice of you MTS. Bravo. I am not admin but I am the resident IT help in our group because I am one of the youngest people in our group (And I am 32) because of my comfort level with technology.

He then brought in Thing 2, who worked for me going on 11 years. When I promoted original Thing 1, he and thing 2 found new Thing 1, who has been here for almost 4 years. If anything Thing 2 would be the one to blackmail and rob me!

December 24, 201014 yr Yeah I have never heard of them until a guy returned a rental car at work tonight. They have some pretty nice stuff for guys.

December 24, 201014 yr Has anyone heard of the clothing company Zara? I thought I liked Express blazers (and I still do) but these prices are awesome. I'm just curious because I have never heard of them until tonight. I have numerous items in my wardrobe from Zara: great stuff and reasonably priced. Hell, I'm wearing one of their jackets in my avatar.

I'm just curious because I have never heard of them until tonight. Yeah, my gf has shopped there a few times on our trips to Atlanta. They actually have a store in Lenox Mall. It's a pretty nice brand and fairly inexpensive. Some of their items kind of reminds me of DKNY.

December 24, 201014 yr Just what I need: well-dressed straights throwing off my gaydar. There are lots of skeevy-looking gays. Trust.
December 25, 201014 yr Just what I need: well-dressed straights throwing off my gaydar. You probably need to recalibrate your gaydar. I suggest starting in Cleveland to do that; my first few visits there, it took a while to adjust to the sight of straight men who cared how they dressed and groomed themselves. That was in the late seventies, and Cleveland was way ahead of the curve on Metrosexual. It's still true, too. Sounds like maybe you should go to Cincinnati, too, to calibrate it at the other end of the scale. Then, go to Chicago to check the mid-range. If you go into the Corner Bakery across from the Art Institute, you'll have to turn off the audible alert to avoid vertigo, but the signals are valid.

That was in the late seventies... At first I was like, huh, where the F are these dudes? I sure never saw them in all the years I was single here. Then I saw you were talking about the 70s. :)

December 25, 201014 yr OH God. I'm stuffed! I can't eat or drink one more thing! Please pass the German Choc. Cake!
December 25, 201014 yr Well, that was a total fiasco. I've achieved a certain amount of acclaim among friends and family over the years for my baking skills, especially with yeast breads. Even my grandmother, an accomplished baker in her own right, once asked me to show her how I made bread. So, for family dinners and gifts I stayed up almost all night last night baking cinnamon-swirl bread, a perennial favorite. I have yet to figure out what happened, but the loaves are of just the right consistency, texture, and density for sidewalk pavers. I'll probably crumble them and toss them onto the patio for the birds, squirrels, and raccoons. I've only had total failures like this a couple of times before in nearly fifty years of baking, and both of those times I felt tired, stretched too thin, and harried when I started, too. I suspect there may be a metaphysical element involved; one may have to put positive mental and spiritual energy into the process in order to achieve positive results. Usually when I bake, I'm looking forward to it and regard the process as rewarding and gratifying, and then the outcome looks, smells, and tastes wonderful.
December 25, 201014 yr Could be old baking powder or soda. @MTS LOL, but the west side is the last place I looked for men when I was single. I spent all my going-out years downtown.
December 25, 201014 yr Could be old baking powder or soda ... It was (or was supposed to be) yeast-raised. The yeast was fresh from the store, and I always proof it (make sure it's active) by softening it in a quarter-cup of warm water and adding a pinch of sugar. It foamed up in very short order. I add just a very small amount of baking powder to give the rising just a little boost during the early part of baking. I try to keep everything warm during all stages of preparation to ensure yeast activity, and at this point I can only guess that maybe I got it too warm at some point and killed the yeast.
December 25, 201014 yr Oh God. I have a massive hang over. I had probably 5 too many of these last night! I feel like I've eaten a pillow covered in dirt! I thought I was going to die when my nephew came into my bedroom screaming and jumped on my bed at 5:30AM! It's time to tell that boy Santa Claus doesn't exist! I dont understand how my brother and mother are fine & dandy and they had twice as much as I had to drink and mixed cocktails.
December 25, 201014 yr ^Aww man. I had a bunch of those last night at a party too. Just looking at that picture is nauseating. I went to bed feeling like crap, but I'm surprisingly feeling pretty close to normal now. Time to do it again tonight. :banger:
December 25, 201014 yr Just what I need: well-dressed straights throwing off my gaydar. I think I have a good gaydar just from being around so many gays after dorming with some and going to a top design college that urban planning happened to be a program in. I hate the stereotype that if you're "well-dressed" you must be gay. I've seen gay guys that dress goofy as hell. I hope women who happen to like me don't assume I'm gay just because I wear fitted clothes and always have a clean neck line/ am well groomed or something like that. I went to schedule an appointment at the doctor's office a couple days ago; the guy behind the counter - besides his tan in the winter, thinned out eye-brows, nice clothes, hair he probably spent 20 minutes on, the way he carried himself, etc.; what really made my gaydar go off was the fact that he was wearing a scarf, indoors while working. Us straight guys don't wear accessories like that unless we have to. Especially a matching scarf indoors when it's 72 degrees! lol. To me, that's like wearing sunglasses in a dark room. Oh God. They were probably smart enough to drink a lot of water with it along with a couple tylenol. Apparently you're new to this game lol. On the rare occasions I drink too much, I always ask the bartender/server for a water to go with the drink. Or get it myself, wherever I am. Otherwise, I get really bad hangovers, too. That's why I could never be an alcoholic. Hearing stories from recovering alcoholics about how they used to drink until they vomit, then drink some more... I don't get how anyone could get like that. When I drink, it's to get a nice little buzz, not to have the room start spinning until I pass out, then feel like total sh!t the rest of the next day. I learned my lesson after St. Patrick's Day a few years back. Neverrrr aggaaiiinnn. I think that Gatorade Cincinnatus gave me, saved my life when that happened.

I made the mistake of not buying quick yeast for some rolls I planned to make at Thanksgiving. I tried to proof 2 different packets and it would not foam up. I ended up buying rolls from the store, I was so disgusted.

But I think I really did over do it. My grandfather has a really heavy hand and his coquito and the Pina Colada's are so good but strong! Then I went over to my cousins and she had Chichaito. My brother and I were twisted, he was on my floor at like 3:30 am. My dad was the only person with some sense as he went to bad at a reasonable time. I dont know how people get drunk everyday. I feel so slow. Oh god, now they want to play card games for money. Time for me to get my Bid Whist and Spades on! Let the debauchery begin!
