Single charger coming for mobile phones

Major phone makers and mobile operators have agreed to adopt a single interface for handset chargers, the GSM Association announced on Tuesday.

By 2012, more than half of new handsets shipped will use Micro-USB as the interface for charging, the mobile trade body said at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. People will be able to use a single charger to revive devices from the 17 manufacturers and operators participating in the initiative.

The adoption of Micro-USB as a common standard has several advantages for users and the industry, the GSM Association (GSMA) said. In particular, it allows manufacturers to stop shipping a new charger with every handset, and it lets buyers avoid the need to have multiple chargers for different devices.

^ This is old news, KFOTW. Either stay up with the times, or forfeit your 'Moderator' status.

Anyone watch some horrible show called "Criminal Minds" tonight?  It's on CBS.  Anyways, I watched bc my sister told me it was supposedly taking place in Cleveland.  While I saw zero footage of the city, they did utter "Edgewater Creek," "cuYOGA," and "Cedar Park."

Well lah-dee-dah to you too, mister.

For the IT people out there, can anyone give me an example of an IT project in the public sector that failed?  I have to write a quick synopsis on it.  Thanks.

**My google search has been somewhat unproductive.

Muchos gracias.  I should have thought about that.  Cuyahoga County had a debacle too.

Specifically, Cuyahoga had trouble with the GEMS operating system that went with the Diebold touch screen machines.  Go to www.cuyahogavoting.org to download a detailed report on how the system failed.

What a selfless, knowledgeable bunch.  Thanks again.

I am officially old.

This explains the reasoning in living in the burbs.

ouch!

I am officially old. Saw America over the weekend. There were people standing in line with walkers.

I'm officially old with you, I love America and just watched a PBS special about them a couple of months ago.

Ok Grand Ma and Grand Pa.

Glad to hear it!  It was a great concert.  We really enjoyed it.

I really think they need to bring back public executions.  Madoff would be first on my list, followed by serial killers and rapists.

No, I am not kidding.  I also wasn't kidding about my belief that race consciousness/racism has its origins in our DNA/primal instincts (it was deleted).

At the very least he should be locked up for life.

Who's that?

Ask your mom and dad!!

...and going back further in time (I was in elementary school, okay), last week Estelle Bennett of the Ronettes--who apparently had a very troubled life--passed away (at 67%u2014not that old):

There must be twelve bottles of AquaNet hair spray on each head of hair!

"Personally, I hope both of these lifestyle centers close."

"I say, wipe FL off the map with the rest of the South!"

"Tear it all down!  Just tear it all down.  Redevelop the areas that were destroyed when the innerbelt was planned and built."

Thank goodness MTS isn't in charge!

Several hundred people including some forumers would be out of a job, I-90 would be gridlocked for miles, and I would be somewhere floating in the Atlantic!  :x

Sounds like an episode of LOST the way you put it!

Trust me.  I would create a fabulous rail network to take cars of the streets.  Give me 5 billion dollars and I could turn Cleveland proper around!

Bull.  If we gave you $5B you'd spend it all in upscale retail stores. :)

Not true.  I would build a GAP!

We all know you'd buy a bunch of fedoras and wear them at the same time.

LMAO!!  That was Politix.  You know, back in the day when TC was poppin'!

Does anyone else find the following situation really odd?

You are at a urinal doing your business, when another individual walks in.  Instead of doing his business at the urinal next to you or 2 urinals down from you, he instead decides to enter a stall, close the door, and do what he could have done at a urinal.  Is this strange, or is there some unwritten man rule I am unaware of?

NO.  I never use urinals.  I dont want another dude talking to me so to avoid "conversation" at the urinal I use the stall.

^You are one of those weirdos then.  Just cemented it.

I think it's a g.a.y. thing...

I'm sorry, but there is no reason why a) another man should be next to you at a urinal unless its a super busy bathroom [and thats a whole 'nother issue] and b) there is no need to have conversation while at the urinal or in the bathroom.  NONE PERIOD!

Those two reasons are why I miss having my own bathroom.

You are so ghetto.  lol

So, MTS, you aren't interested in checking out the "hardware"? I guess it's not like straight guys and boobs where we just cannot help but look.

Ahhh NO.  That is disgusting.  I have a penis, I don't want to see anyone else's!  I've had this conversation with my cousins.  We're tall so I can see over the divider, I don't want anyone to assume I'm taking a peek!  I don't get down like that.

I don't believe the mens room is a place for conversation.  I want to go in, do my business in peace and get the phuck out!

Besides, I'm far more interested in what a mans got going on in the back.

Lawd!  You kids.  Can't take ya nowhere!

The only thing that ever bothers me privacy-wise about public bathrooms are when you are sick.  When I lived in the dorms we had community bathrooms, so when I got food poisoning and had the need to throw up, I would go down 5 floors (as fast as I could) to a private bathroom.  Even then, someone in a room nearby would still here and be like "Are you okay ? ? ?" as I came out.

Saw this on a visit to my parents not far from their house.  The driver here was run off the road into this fence by another vehicle.  I was almost hit sitting stationary in the left turn lane.  Missed me by 3 feet.
