May 14, 200916 yr Plus my insurance company lets you spread it out over 12 monthly payments with zero interest or penalty for doing so, so it's like $20 a month. I'm sure others do as well. My assistant, has it but if he doesn't pay the balance in full, there is a $2 service fee per payment, starting with the second payment.
May 14, 200916 yr boo fees. I like my insurance company (auto and renters). I got into a small accident last year, which I contended was the other person's fault and they contended was mine. I really thought it would end up a "no fault" claim but in the end, they ruled against me. However, because I have a completely clean record and no other incidents, they sent me a notice with my renewal saying they basically let you have 1 for free/no penalties, and to keep up my good driving record and that there'd be no increase in my premiums. I appreciated that. It's Liberty Mutual by the way.
May 15, 200916 yr [...] I sincerly hope all you kids have renters insurance. Your landlords insurance is not enough. That $300 a year is worth it. Absolutely right. The insurance I carry on my rental only takes care of my loss if the joint burns down (it came close last December). It doesn't cover any of the tenants' possessions.
May 15, 200916 yr I am so tired of looking at apartments. I forgot how exhausting house hungtin can be.
May 15, 200916 yr Why are you looking for apartments? Are you not allowed in yours? That's what happens when you don't pay rent.
May 15, 200916 yr Why are you looking for apartments? Are you not allowed in yours? No...not for me. One of my assistants and the office administrator are getting married, so I've been helping them find homes. They are like the little brothers I never had. I told them that when they proposed marriage, they should be financial stable so that they could provide a home for their respective spouses. I told them it's time that they graduate from being "boy" to being "men". So over the past decade they've made some sound investment and saved. We've been threw a lot together and there isn't anything I wouldn't do for those two ungrateful Yankee's fans. Every damn apartment built in the last ten years looks the same, every layout is damn near the same. Yesterday we looked at a building on Madison. I was like, didn't we just look at this building. We actually looked at a building built by the same developer on Broadway. If it helps them get their marriages off on the right foot, I'll be happy. My administrator, does not have a "family". I'm the closest thing to a relative he's got. Why are you looking for apartments? Are you not allowed in yours? That's what happens when you don't pay rent.
May 15, 200916 yr Do you have a massive funny image repository, MTS? I know it puts a smile on you kids faces. I do what I can to brighten your days.

May 18, 200916 yr If the prankster is the 911 caller, then indeed they should be fined. However, if some 8 year old accidentally jammed the stuffed animal in the drainpipe then it's the taxpayers loss. Oh well, just forget about it and move on.
May 18, 200916 yr There was a dog trotting around just before the Eastbound innerbelt near the 14th street/Tremont exit; I'm sure he came down from the exit as he was pretty near it. Could not only have caused a very dead dog but a very bad accident with people swerving to avoid him. I didn't know what to do - it doesn't seem a 9-1-1 worthy "emergency" to call and report a dog on the highway, but I didn't know whom to call instead? A radio station for their traffic department? I think trying to find anyone open at 6:45 am like an animal warden or something would have been tough, and I didn't really know where to start calling so I ended up not doing anything, which I hate. What should I have done?

May 18, 200916 yr Cleveland begins testing 3-1-1 nonemergency number; council members concerned about the rollout by Henry J. Gomez/Plain Dealer Reporter Tuesday March 03, 2009, 9:27 AM On Monday, Cleveland began testing its long-anticipated 3-1-1 telephone system. Once fully operational, the service will route nonemergency calls to the appropriate City Hall department or employee. Angry about that monster pothole on your way to work? You can dial 3-1-1. Wondering why your street hasn't been plowed yet? Dial 3-1-1... Post edited 9-4-09 to comply with terms of use http://www.cleveland.com/cityhall/index.ssf/2009/03/cleveland_begins_testing_311_c.html
May 18, 200916 yr What the hell? Your kids, throws a plate because he doesn't want to clean his room. Sounds like poor parenting to me. The Senior Andrew should have beat Juniors ass 20 years ago! Why is a 28 y/o living at home?? Bedford school board member Andrew Mizsak's argument with dad over cleaning his room prompts police call Posted by rhiggs May 18, 2009 05:45AM It's odd enough that a Bedford father would actually call police after arguing with his son about cleaning his room. Why is a 28 y/o living at home?? What does it say about the community and the availability of worthwhile candidates that a developmentally-impaired 28-year-old living rent-free in his parents' basement get elected to the school board? Do you suppose he throws things and cries when people disagree with him at school board meetings?

Though it's been a LONG time since I took driver's ed, I'm pretty sure this was never discussed. I think that people instinctually swerve to get out of a big animal that's in their pathway, be it a deer or a dog or whatever it is; it would be very hard to overcome one's instinct to swerve when one sees a big object in the road, whatever it is.

May 18, 200916 yr What's crazy is when this type of incident happens on a bike. I remember I was coming down a big hill on a busy street at about 28 mph. This girl had her dog break loose off its leash and it ran out across the street at an angle in front of me that was unpredictable. I figured this may not end well, but better to keep a straight line then swerve out in vehicular traffic. Well, I slammed into little fluffy and surprisingly didn't fall off my bike. Had this impact been with a person, they definitely would have been in the hospital, but the dog was ok. The owner was said "I'm glad you didn't die, sorry!" lol

I know my drivers ed did not say that.

May 18, 200916 yr I think it's sound advice, actually. Better to hit a dog than to endanger human lives by doing unpredictable things behind the wheel. I think someone would feel lousy if they swerved to avoid a dog and caused an accident that causes a person to die.
May 18, 200916 yr X, but the post didn't state that. From what I inferred and what others inferred, swerving to avoid hitting a defenseless animal period is completely pointless because it is just a dog. No mention of a possible endangerment of a human life.
May 18, 200916 yr I think you should reread the situation. Since you aren't from the area, you might not know that this is referring to a very busy strip of highway (actually right after two highways merge into one) just outside of Downtown. Even at 6:45 AM traffic would have been heavy enough that it wasn't an open highway, most likely. May 18, 200916 yr X interpreted my post as I intended it to read. A large dog is the largest animal you'd want to hit with a car, but in moderate to heavy traffic I certainly endorse hitting dogs over other cars or losing control of the vehicle. When there's no one around, of course don't hit the dog. In most situations, a clear-headed individual that is paying proper attention can make the decision whether to hit an object or avoid it.
May 19, 200916 yr I don't know how Sherman attempted to read our minds, but he read mine incorrectly. I took the post as X did, that hitting the dog would be preferrable to endangering other humans' lives by causing a pileup on a busy stretch of freeway.
May 19, 200916 yr It wasn't that, and I didn't address that so it's a moot point to go further with that. My gripe came with the last sentence, "It's just a dog; I hope people remember that." As someone who has adopted pets in the past, and worked at shelters for years (and donate heavily to shelters today), I find comments like that to be discouraging. If on a freeway, and I had to choose between hitting the rear of a car, slamming into a human or into a dog, I'd probably select the car. Hitting the living creatures would almost certainly involve death; the car has a far lower risk of death, and especially from a rear, it has a far lower risk of injury. I suppose my ideals and morals are vastly different than most.
