September 9, 201014 yr Hmmmm..... I believe the CCC coach meant to say that Anton is Earl Boykins' nephew... not the other way around. Boykins is older than me. He's got to be in his mid to late 30's by now. Ironically, how funny is it that the shortest player in the NBA over the past decade or so, Earl Boykins at 5'5 on his best day, has a nephew that is 6'8. Imagine how good Earl would have been if he could have at least split the difference. Great news on the signing, though.

December 3, 201014 yr CSU beat Wisconsin-Green Bay at Green Bay last night for the first time in five years. That makes 9-0 so far this season. Next game is Tuesday, December 7th at 7pm. If you go to the game, mention you are a member of UrbanOhio and get 20% off your purchase at the CSU Bookstore concession stand at the game.
December 5, 201014 yr 10-0 after a win tonight in Milwaukee. These road games are hard in this league, and CSU dominated both. If you are looking for a nice night out with friends/family, go down to a viking game. We need to get behind these guys and it will help for recruiting. These kids are playing their tails off and deserve fans...
December 6, 201014 yr Attendance has hovered around 1500 to 2500 per game. Go to www.csuhoops.com for schedule and ticket information.
December 6, 201014 yr ^attendance is not high enough. Cleveland needs to embrace the lone D1 college team in the city, i know there are several alum in the city...turn our program into Pitt or Univ. of Cincy in terms of support and expectations.
December 6, 201014 yr They need better marketing of the team and school sports to the Greater Cleveland area..CSU just doesnt have the same connection as Ohio State but it can achieve that with more visibility and marketing. I know this can be the beginning. They should be easily able to fill the Wolstein Center..They are definitely an attraction as their records show GO Vikes!
December 6, 201014 yr I would imagine that not being a traditional campus school, meaning more commuters than most, hurts their cause. Hopefully this changes once they build up their resident base.
December 8, 201014 yr Cleveland State won again tonight and are now 11-0. I'm pretty certain they have the most wins of any d1 college bball team in the country.
December 8, 201014 yr I'm interested to see how they perform against WVU next Saturday. I wonder if they keep playing well if they'll get the same love that Butler has received coming ou tof the Horizon league...
December 13, 201014 yr Cleveland State is now 12-0. Their next game is a big one @ West Virginia on Dec 18. Anyone know if there is a watch party or if it will be televised? December 18, 201014 yr They lost their bid to be the first team to go 13-0. WVA wins 75-63. This is still a decent team and I look forward to March Madness.
December 22, 201014 yr One last pitch to pack the stands tonight: CSU (12-1) vs. a BIG EAST team South Florida. South Florida played top 20 BYU into OT and has a few other marquee wins. If CSU cant get fans for this game, i dont know what game they can...This team is solid and play hard every game!! Get behind these guys and help them charge to the Big Dance. Tickets are $15.00-$25.00. A Great way to get out and take family, friends or partner out for some quality entertainment!!

December 31, 201014 yr Between the 3C's college basketball teams (UC, OSU, and CSU), there are 40 wins and 1 loss. Good year to be a college basketball fan in Ohio!
January 30, 201114 yr Alright Cleveland Sports Fans, This notice gives you 5 days to clear your Thursday night. If you can, please get down and support these young men and Gary Waters. Great seats available for as low as $10.00. 10!!!, forget about the cavs for now! 1st place is on the line and a loss is devastating. Get down to the Wolstein and root on Cleveland State vs. Valporaiso Thursday at 7:00 pm. Biggest regular season game in years.
January 30, 201114 yr Also for you non sports fans, If Cleveland State wins this game, they are in the drivers to HOST the horizon league tournament in the beginning of March. That means people from Wisconsin, Chicago, Indiana and Michigan all come to our town and spend their money. This game has economical ramifications as well. If they lose, they will most likely be going to Indiana for the tournament.
January 31, 201114 yr Also, ESPN announces their "Bracket Busters" tonight at 6:30 PM for the Feb 19-20 games. Cleveland State has a good chance of being one of the 11 nationally-televised games.
January 31, 201114 yr Not to be a Debbie Downer, but where? http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/rankings
January 31, 201114 yr Not to be a Debbie Downer, but where? http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/rankings Damnit, I just read it now I can't find it! :?

January 31, 201114 yr ^Elton Alexander from the PD ranked the vikes #24. He gets national votes. His rankings put the vikes at 24...but that doesnt reflect in the AP polls...still we got votes!
January 31, 201114 yr ^Elton Alexander from the PD ranked the vikes #24. He gets national votes. His rankings put the vikes at 24...but that doesnt reflect in the AP polls...still we got votes! Ahhhhh....That must have been where I saw it.
February 1, 201114 yr Also, ESPN announces their "Bracket Busters" tonight at 6:30 PM for the Feb 19-20 games. Cleveland State has a good chance of being one of the 11 nationally-televised games. The Vikes will play @ Old Dominion on Feb 20 on either ESPN or ESPN2 -- they got a nationally televised game.
February 1, 201114 yr First things first, Thursday, February 3rd at 7pm the Vikings take on Valparaiso. Valpo is currently a half game back of the first place Vikings in the Horizon League. Win Thursday and we significantly increase the chances of bringing the Horizon League Tournament to Cleveland in March. A win on Saturday the 5th at Noon against Butler will revenge the spanking Butler gave the Vikings just a few weeks ago. If you come to the game, wear black to blackout Butler! By the way, "BEAT BUTLER" t-shirts are on sale at the CSU Bookstore.
February 1, 201114 yr I encourage everyone to get to one of these games. The kids have playing their @sses off all year and deserve a huge crowd.
February 1, 201114 yr ^ & ^^ we could be on a pace to deliver the best average attendance at Wolstein: Hope to see all on this board at the Valpo game on Thursnite and Butler on Sat Noon. I will be the one yelling: 'pillage, plunder, set their town on fire!" http://www.cleveland.com/sports/csu/index.ssf/2011/01/good_day_for_offense_defense_n.html By the numbers: Cleveland State's success this season has led to a turnstile boost. The Vikings are averaging 2,694 fans per game in their 12 home games this season. They have averaged 3,806 over the past five games, which is higher than the season-long average of 3,222 the Vikings averaged during the 2000-01 season. For the Vikings to top that average, they would need to get 4,490 people into the Wolstein Center for each of the five remaining home games. The season high was 4,711 on Dec. 22 for the game against South Florida. The next highest was 4,615 for the Vikings' most recent home game, a 65-46 win over Wright State on Jan. 22.
February 1, 201114 yr You would think with the Cavs sucking a big ----- the Vikes would see a LARGER rise in attendance as people would like to see a GOOD basketball game.
