August 3, 200717 yr Great Ohio tour thus far! I'm hoping for some Island pics next. These images sure conjure up a lot of memories of summers on Catawba Island.
August 3, 200717 yr ^ sorry not this time, no time, but there is more to come! wacka wacka! i love this -- what is this? europe? Well, a lot of people who work summer jobs in Port Clinton are from Europe. Nice thread. Port Clinton is certainly one of the best places in Toledo's MSA. well i was just there and i didnt see any euros around, nor do i recall any in the past, but i was referring to the building. it looks like something in europe or miami. i wonder who built it? i would have expected to see more people around mid-summer in the heart of ohio's lake erie vacationland -- i dk what is up, i hope all is well around there as it still seems nice as ever *** Gas prices of course. Most vacationers in Ottawa County drive from Ohio, Michigan, Ontario, or Indiana. i think interest in small town vacations has slipped a lot too --- maybe thats what hurts cedar point attendence. people go to vegas and disneyland and stuff more often when they have $ and time nowadays. they want the modern hotels and better food options as well. i hope i'm wrong.
August 4, 200717 yr aaah le trompe l'oeil. yezz that explains the euro connection. oui oui but of course mon frere. eet ees obvious. *slaps self on forehead*
August 4, 200717 yr who would want to look at the lake? or turn them around and look across the street at downtown and the historic island house hotel? ^The Ottawa County crowd is not like that. They're not Disneyworld/Vegas types. They like the small town coastal/island resort life (or heavy drinking), not flashy consumerism. Really, gas is a big factor this summer, on top of weak economies in Detroit, Toledo, and Cleveland. Still, it's a cheap vacation, and the area has been packed some of this summer. Ottawa County is not about to fall off the tourism map or anything, but it's not as popular as it was in the 1990's, due to gas prices (affects boaters more than anything). I hope the Detroit-Toledo-Port Clinton passenger rail line gets rebuilt soon. That would be great for the area. huh? i was referring to potential vacationers not the townies. but as for the locals, for being not flashy they sure have a hell of a flashy amusement park. and that mystery hill water that runs up isnt flashy? oh i think it is. i would also say they all have been to disney/vegas generally as much any any other americans have, its not a poor region. where have you heard det-tol-pc is getting rail? i'd like to read about that. do provide a link, i didnt find anything about it googling.
