Posted August 5, 200717 yr Wow! Sidney is a vibrant, intact little town centered around a fabulous courthouse. The city (and its courthouse) reminded me of Newark, although Sidney is smaller. I'll certainly be back.
August 5, 200717 yr That first building kicks ass. The Peoples Federal Building is quite an imposing structure, indeed--but in a good way. It conveys power and stability.
August 6, 200717 yr Quite nice! Lots of historic buildings and the Sullivan kicks butt. Amazing that it survived the fifties and sixties without being stripped and cladded. Compared with a lot of towns its size and age, comparatively few of the upper stories have been boarded up.
August 6, 200717 yr Great stuff. If you go into the Peoples Federal Savings & Loan, they seem to be quite proud of their building (and rightfully so). They encourage people to look around, take pictures, sign the visitor registry, and even have a brochure printed up with infomation about the building and Sullivan. They definitely seem to be good stewards of their architectural history. Ink, did you have a chance to eat at The Spot?
August 6, 200717 yr I like Sidney more than Newark. It's more intact. Also, Sidney is surprising, as it's quite hilly/Appalachian and yet it's in west-central Ohio. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
August 6, 200717 yr ^^I didn't eat at The Spot. That was the same day I ate at Wendys and missed Kewpee as well. Oh well...
