Posted August 10, 200717 yr Just a reminder of this year's fun. If you have never been to one, I highly recommend seeing one of Cleveland's best festivals of the summer.
August 10, 200717 yr If you live in Cleveland and you've never gone, you should go this year or just move, because for as much as people complain about the city it's one of the coolest things to do each year. The food is unbelievable and there are lots of attractive girls. :-D
August 10, 200717 yr not that i wont be there this year, but it seems that every year it gets more and more packed with annoying 16 y/o wanna bes. Solution? Go hide in a beer tent where they can't follow.
August 13, 200717 yr REMINDER: Two more days! Parking is always a problem. I'd recommend taking the redline to Euclid and E.120.
August 13, 200717 yr next laziest option is parking somewhere in coventry and walking down the hill. But yes, take the redline.
August 21, 200717 yr I hardly took any pictures since I was working 14-16 hours everyday, but here are a few for those who missed it. I asked my best friend to take pictures but he only came back with drunken pictures of girls. Thanks to the great weather and promoting, huge crowds this year. Any one else make it out this year??
August 22, 200717 yr I was there Sunday...it ended Saturday- I'm a disgrace to my screen name :( Although it was entertaining watching the italianos trying to clean up their storefront booths...only a wop would enter into a diatribe of profanities to express his frustration in watching another daygo fold a chair...ahh good times!
August 12, 200816 yr *reminder 2008* WHEN: August 14-17, 2008 WHERE: Little Italy/Murray Hill MORE INFO: http://www.ohiotraveler.com/Venue%20Files/feast_of_the_assumption.htm http://cleveland.about.com/od/events/p/feastassumption.htm Can change the heading to just "CLEVELAND: Little Italy Feast of the Assumption"?
August 16, 200816 yr last shameless bump GORGEOUS weather for the feast..the streets are already packed
August 18, 200816 yr I swear I have to make it next year. I am not a festival type person. Unless food is involved. then I am listening. Sounds as if there may be some food eats, and with "feast" in the name, you better hope so.

August 12, 200915 yr There is no possible way for me to make it to the Feast this year, and it is killing me... To everybody who does have a chance to go have a fried dough for me...
August 12, 200915 yr Will be there Friday at a party, then down to the street. Beer Tent= Good. Gambling in the church=great. Sausage wrapped in a piece of pizza= amazing.

August 17, 200915 yr The wifey and I met some friends down there on Saturday. Very good turnout, even though it was hot as all hell. We strolled for a awhile, then found a place to sit down and do some people watching. Stuffed our face and then walked it off on the way up to the hill back to THE Heights.

August 18, 200915 yr Attendence seemed pretty decent this year...especially Friday night. From the PD: Feast of the Assumption in Little Italy in Cleveland draws thousands Sunday, August 16, 2009 Joan Mazzolini Plain Dealer Reporter Even before the procession started in front of Holy Rosary Catholic Church Saturday morning, the thousands of people gathered in Little Italy were slurping down Italian ices, lemonade and iced tea to cool down under a cloudless sky. August 18, 200915 yr I don't want to be a debbie downer here, but are there any other people who think the feast food is overpriced and isn't that good? Maybe it's just cause I'm Italian, so I'm an Italian food snob, but the pasta and stuff is always overcooked. Just curious :).

Maybe it's just cause I'm Italian, so I'm an Italian food snob, but the pasta and stuff is always overcooked. Just curious :). I usually think that (and having a wife that makes excellent homemade sauce and refuses to use anything but handmade noodles, I've become quite the Italian food snob), but I actually got some pretty decent food there this year (Presti's raviolis and Anthony's gelato). Yes, it is overpriced, and it's by no means the best food (not even the best the restaurants serving the food have to offer), but it's still a good time. I felt that the attendance was down a little this year (based on Friday night and Sunday afternoon observations). Although it did seem that there was more activity on Murray Hill Rd., so maybe the people were just spread out a little better.

Maybe it's just cause I'm Italian, so I'm an Italian food snob, but the pasta and stuff is always overcooked. Just curious :). Definitely not that good. But you got to remember that you're getting it from vendors basically, and not like you normally would when seated in a restaurant. I was out and about Thur-Sat nights, and tried to walk off the worst hang-over in history Sunday morning. It's the first time I've lived here, as opposed to just coming during the night, and I think that made the experience a million times better.
August 18, 200915 yr I'm sure it's the best Italian you are going to get out of a chafing dish. Yes, probably. But that's the point, it's not a nice sit-down meal prepared by a chef and plattered. It's mass-produced items in chafing dishes doled out onto paper plates. So if you go there expecting a great meal, you're going to be disappointed. If you go there (as I do) with the expectation that you're going to a big outdoor fair-style party, you'll be very happy with the food offerings. It is great for what it is.
August 18, 200915 yr Lets put it this way: Feast Food is not a culinary wonder, but its food you look forward to eating once a year. I have a very critical tongue, as im sure most of you do...and i like to eat at the best places around...but I wont miss a feast, because i have to eat there. Its not my favorite and doesnt compete with authentic Italian or even what my family can cook...but I love it.

September 7, 200915 yr This event might not be fresh on many's minds anymore (at least after all that beer, heh), but has anyone else noticed that the police seem to be "cracking down" on the Feast more and more each year? I was positively stunned when the cops started driving down the road at midnight, yelling at everyone that the "Feast was over." I seem to recall that they just blocked the street for the whole night in previous years? This doesn't really bode well for future attendance.
August 9, 201014 yr It must be that time of year again! FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION Aug 12-15, 2010 http://www.facebook.com/pages/Little-Italy-OH/I-Love-The-Feast-of-the-Assumption/137256472977778

They've been doing that for at least ten years as necessary.
August 12, 201014 yr Here's the first news coverage of the event, including a schedule: http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/entertainment/around_town/religious-celebration-food-and-music-mark-feast-of-the-assumption-in-clevelands-little-italy
August 12, 201014 yr boo, we couldn't get a babysitter so we're not going. I am not going to take the baby over there, it's just too much mayhem in too little of an area.
August 12, 201014 yr Yeah, but it's been SO hot lately, he would be miserable. There's nothing to do or see for him, and we wouldn't feel free to just stand around and eat. he needs a lot of attention, you know? Just pushing him or carrying him around while we go from stand to stand and eat isn't too exciting.
August 12, 201014 yr so grab your food and take him to the new tony brush park... there is only a high of 85 on saturday.
August 12, 201014 yr ooh, where's that? We can't go saturday, we will be out of town all day at SIL's housewarming. We were planning on sunday originally.
