Hamilton World Series-bound

Team defeats Indiana 6-1 Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS - Hamilton is headed to Williamsport, Pa., for the Little League World Series after beating New Albany, Ind., 6-1 before 5,000 fans at Stokely Field at the Reuben F. Glick Baseball Center.

 

The Hamilton vs. New Albany game - the Great Lake Regional Championship - produced one of two champions from the Central Region headed for Williamsport. The two winners will join six other regional champions in Williamsport, along with eight international teams.

 

"It's a blur - I'm going to have to go home and watch it on ESPN," Tim Nichting, manager of the Hamilton West Side All-Stars, said. "It's going to be the experience of a lifetime in Williamsport."

Hamilton Little Leaguers ousted

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Hamilton West Side All-Stars' magical ride to the Little League World Series ended this afternoon.

 

With a spot in the quarterfinals at stake, the team from Lake Oswego, Ore., beat Hamilton 6-1 before 3,400 fans at a blustery Volunteer Stadium.

 

“There’s only one team that leaves here without getting its heart broken,” said Jerry Lauer, president of the Hamilton West Side Little League. “They’ve got nothing to be ashamed of. They played hard. They were all winners before they got here. This is just a steppingstone in life.”
