Posted August 13, 200717 yr but in an effort to get rid of surface lots in CBD, whether its the many lots on Central Pkway, the vast lot at Broadway Commons (hopefully a park would be built there), is there anyway to uise the underground tunnels as parking. Seee my very rough graphic below. H's reprsent cars and the arrows represent the direction of traffic in the roads underground. Underground parking is the way to go in urban areas and w/ thee tunnels already built, Cincy could make it happen at a lower cost. _______________________________________l l____________ H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H --> --> --> --> --> --> --> ------------------------------------------------------------ <-- <-- <-- <--- <--- <--- <-- <-- _________________________________________________________
August 13, 200717 yr I don't believe those tunnels are wide enough for two moving lanes of traffic and a parking lane. It would be nice to use those tunnels for something...I just don't think that is the use that would work well there. You could utilize more space and get rid of the need for moving lanes of traffic if you made it an automated-type garage, but that probably isn't the most efficient layout for that type of system.
August 13, 200717 yr I'm definitely for getting rid of the surface lots near Central Pkwy. Using the tunnels for parking is a creative idea, but I have no idea if it is feasible or not. The one barrier I can think of is the water main going through it. That's where it is, right?
August 13, 200717 yr There are also fiber optic cables running through some of it (if not all)...various things are kept down there in storage...plus it's used for exciting tours!
