August 17, 200717 yr I'm jealous! Beautiful pics. Does London have firm height restrictions? Even the new high-rises are fairly short. In the second or third most expensive city in the world you'd think they'd build higher, to meet the demand (i'm guessing they can't because of tall buildings wouldn't fit in with the rest of the urban fabric?).

I don't think so, as they have proposals that go over 1,000 feet. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
August 17, 200717 yr Well damn I guess they just have so much of the old stuff in tact, that's why we don't see many tall structures. Jimminy cricket! Where?
August 17, 200717 yr Between ColDay and MrNYC, we have a veritable UrbanOhio British Invasion going on here.
August 19, 200717 yr I'm jealous! Beautiful pics. Does London have firm height restrictions? Even the new high-rises are fairly short. In the second or third most expensive city in the world you'd think they'd build higher, to meet the demand (i'm guessing they can't because of tall buildings wouldn't fit in with the rest of the urban fabric?). heh heh. i had a discussion about that with someone over there. i dont think there was any written rule other than the well-known british hubris that kept them against big towers for a long time. i mean, how gauche they are right? lol. well, pressure for towers has really been bubbling since post-9/11 and has now it seems like any reluctance has gone out the window. they are enamored with'em and with starchitecture.
