September 8, 200717 yr cle2032, nice work ... the larger the font the better IMO. Really sharp! I vote for cle2032's blue version (with an even larger font) and KOOW's original B&W piece in Navy Blue!
September 9, 200717 yr these new logos are cool, but i thought the point of urban ohio was to also showcase smaller ohio towns? this logo completely ignores them. Fine: Hahahahaha!
September 11, 200717 yr On big US maps NYC and Chicago have bigger dots than Cleveland, therefore Cleveland has a bigger dot than Dayton. No hard feelings!
September 11, 200717 yr On big US maps NYC and Chicago have bigger dots than Cleveland, therefore Cleveland has a bigger dot than Dayton. No hard feelings! If Akron and Youngstown get big dots then so should Dayton.

September 12, 200717 yr Only if we can make Dayton's look like bullet holes. Much like your bathroom after you let that drunk guy in? "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
September 13, 200717 yr Alright folks - it's time to retire the official logo of Urban Ohio. So we're having a contest for you design-minded folk to come up with something new, something cool, something fabulous. You get the idea. HOWEVER, there are some guidelines/rules that you have to abide by: 1. The logo must be equally representative of all cities in Ohio (or just the state). In other words, the words "Urban Ohio" with the Cleveland skyline as a backdrop won't cut it. 2. Whatever software you use - your final version MUST be available as a vector graphic (aka Illustrator file). If you don't know what that means, I'm not sure you should be entering the contest. Seriously though, we'll need to have something we can give to printers that will be a clean, crisp, professional piece of work. 3. Your design must be easily legible in a variety of applications - from business cards, to t-shirts, to bumper stickers, etc. If you come up with an intricate design that looks cool but reads as a blur at 40mph, it's not going to cut it. 4. Although it's not required, if you choose to use multiple colors, it might be a good idea to provide a spot-color option. 5. Of course, by entering the contest you release and indeminfy the proprietors of the Urban Ohio site from any and all liability, etc. By submitting a design you are agreeing that the proprietors of Urban Ohio have complete permission to use your logo design as they see fit. What's in it for you? 1,500 members will thank you for starters; you'll also get the T-shirt of your choice from Campfire Goods http://www.wearecampfire.com/, and if you ever show up at an Urban Ohio meet, I'm sure someone will buy you a drink. Who does the judging? Well, me along with input from other forumers but we'll worry about that later. The deadline for submissions is Friday, September 7th at 3pm eastern time. I'm sure there will be questions, so please use this thread to ask. Good luck! Is the contest over? Will there be a vote? Just curious...
September 13, 200717 yr No, contest isn't over yet! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
September 13, 200717 yr Yes. We want to give more time for more people to contribute. So, we'll say the deadline (subject to change) is Friday, September 28th! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
September 13, 200717 yr Yes. We want to give more time for more people to contribute. So, we'll say the deadline (subject to change) is Friday, September 28th! Reminds me of the current issues with 5th & Race right now...
September 13, 200717 yr "Will there be a vote? Just curious..." Nope. The logo that's chosen will be chosen for more than how appealing it is to the forumers. Again, there may be some designs that you guys think are really cool (and they are), but if they aren't functional or if they won't be practical for certain uses, we can't go with them. We can have a vote to see which is the most popular, but it may not be the best logo for the job. :-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
September 13, 200717 yr Could you guys narrow it down to the ones that would work, and we could vote from that list?

September 13, 200717 yr Hahahaha! I think that's about the only time the usage of the jester icon will happen. I'm happy I got in there to use him...
September 13, 200717 yr When it comes to logos, I trust MayDay's judgement over the popular sentiment of this forum.

September 18, 200717 yr I like how the ohio river is labeled ohio, that may have come off as sarcastic but was not intended as such.
November 13, 200717 yr I guess you'll never know, bwhahahahah!!! J/K, yes - but things/life have been too busy (until now) to implement it, make announcements, etc. Stay tuned! :-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
November 15, 200717 yr ugg, and I was just going to post more! oh well, can't wait to see what was chosen!

December 13, 200717 yr Here is an idea I had. Just thought I would try something. That's really neat. :)
December 13, 200717 yr Hmm...i have some ideas for this. First off, when did Urban Ohio first appear?
December 13, 200717 yr Ummm, browsing around the internet, I found this. Anyone car to explain? LOL :bang:
December 13, 200717 yr You really can't come up with anything on the internet anymore without someone stealing it. I made some stupid graphic in 5 minutes and it ended up on coffee mugs and thongs on cafeexpress.
December 13, 200717 yr ^----Oh I agree. Primary reason why I quit posting diagrams on Skyscraperpage. Too many people love to copy and not ask. Guess that's the internet for ya! :shoot:

December 14, 200717 yr Ummm, browsing around the internet, I found this. Anyone car to explain? LOL :bang: That's a very resourceful and dynamic logo.
December 14, 200717 yr It's also a consequence of basing a small-size application logo on something as public domain as a map silhouette. The font is a bit more readable than the current UO logo. The choice of palette is rather startling though...
