My office knows how to have a good time. For this year's summer event, the agency split up into four teams and attempted to decipher clues to specific Columbus landmarks. Each team had four hours, a digital camera, and a limo full of beers to photograph as many locations as possible (despite a drunken call or two to ColDayMan, my team came in second).

Now it's your turn to play along.

I'll throw out a clue from the master list. The first forummer to decipher that clue and link the appropriate photo gets a point. Original shots are not necessary; you can pull from your photo archive. And no, I didn't compose these clues.

Ready? Pop open a brewski and start with an easy one:

CLUE #1

Beautiful Americans

In C’lumbus abound,

Find two, ala “gothic”

(And one’s upside-down).

On your mark, get set, SNAP!

easy? I'm already lost.

Take the lens cap off.

I have no idea.

Take the lens cap off.

PUT IT BACK ON! PUT IT BACK ON!

I have no idea.

Puh-leeze, David. It was only last week you shot up my neighborhood (hint hint).

I take it I cannot participate...

You were probably too drunk to remember any of the clues.

No, wait. That was me.

Participate away (please)!

you say columns and all i can think of is the left over train station ones......

(not a fan of guy lombardo? I take it you don't have the official US treasury guy lombardo dollar bill? even more baffling as he's canadian)

For the love of Guy Lombardo, THIS IS SO EASY!

Unfortunately, your mom isn't.

Hold on you two; only in the event of a tie shall we resort to a poo-throwing contest.

now i hate cow-town art more than ever, and I'm dumb.

Cow Town Art is gone, forgotten, and not the correct answer to clue #2.

hey, you edited an old post and i missed it.

Sorry. Just trying to be economical with my post-count.

Once again:

CLUE #2

Can we at least have hotlink privileges?

the first two things that came to mind were either marblecliff or glen echo at hudson. no pics but here's some google:

^Nope. Again with the hint: the answer is in Short North.

I was gonna go to a Columbus meet. Im sure slipperyfish would too. I would have gotten the second riddle. Not sure about the third.

The cap? It hangs above 670...that's the only thing remotely close to a faux cliff I can think of.

^Interesting guess.

isn't this mural called something that has to do with a cliff?

^Bingo! It's a reproduction of "The Cliff Dwellers" by native Columbusite George Bellows, located at 641 N. High St.  Good job Summit Street!

Heading out of Columbus proper for this next one:

CLUE #5

At Ash-Chem the arches

Are tension in double.

Get a snap of this sculpture

Or you’ll all be in trouble.

(Again: I did NOT compose these clues). Good luck!

i thought this was the columbus scavenger hunt?

aww geez i cant play, the mural, the cap, the corn & the arches came after i moved.

Of course Kingfish just HAD to highlight "David.....O points." Thanks.

^There's a way to fix that, you know.

^^This is Columbus; any objects older than 15 years are summarily destroyed. You know that.

^^^We'll bring it back downtown as soon as someone gets clue #5.

O'Shaughnessy Reservoir dam??

(From Wikipedia)

Nevermind..

It's obviously something at or in Ashland Distribution Co's HQ.

Found this at flickr.com listed under "Double Tension Arches" sculpture on the Ashland Chemical grounds.  I'm new at posting images, so they may not show up.  If these images don't show up, you can find them at www.flickr.com by searching for Ashland Chemical Columbus.

Now back to Columbus proper for an excruciatingly easy one:

It looks like an “A” when you’re far away.

Up close--what the hell could it be?

For those with art trauma it could be alma mama

So get thee a photo at CCAD.
