I currently live in the Emery Building in OTR, and will be moving to my new Condo on 6th street this fall (next door to the CAC). If any of you haven't checked out the new condos going in around town, you should.. There are some truely awesome spaces out there, and a bunch of new ones going in everyday...

well i'll live up here in cleveland, so i expect photos

More as it progresses.

You are the luckiest person i know...

It's not like the whole building is mine :).

Welcome to the forum, mark. It looks like a great space.

I was just in your neighborhood a few days ago, mark. Click on the link in my sig to see the pics! [/shameless plug]

I saw that... :)

This isn't actually my unit.. but it's the same floorplan on a different floor. Thought you all might like to see the progress:

Can't wait till it's done. My floor is not as near as far along.

how long will it take to complete your unit? I would hate to get a new place and have to wait for it to be completed.

Get some pics of the view too..

Move in should in October (hopefully). I'd post a photo of the view, but just imagine the side of the Chiquita building and you've pretty much got it :). I'm not one of those rich folks who can afford a view AND have enough space to live comfortably.

What building is your loft going to be in? I'm sure you've already said but I forgot.

It's 26 East 6th. It's between the CAC and the Chiquita building. The project is called Graydon place. How's your new place working out?

Great :)

oh that looks like a finished live/work loft in midtown Cleveland lol

^haha zace, any more work would take away some of the rawness, eh?

lookin good mark, is this the building attached to the cac?

haha its more like artists living in places zoned for light industry/manufacturing/commercial and it being ignored by landlords and the city because no one else is really moving in there lol

Very nice. I like it. Are we all invited when it is done. I need to convince my wife to move downtown. She isn't buying into it YET!

We'll see :). If you haven't done so, you should check out the downtown tour of living the next time it happens...

I really need too. We missed the last one.

Hah, Indeed. I do plan of keeping some of the 'industrial' look. The large iron beam/pole will be exposed, the wood beams are exposed. The warehouse style floors are remaining, as well as the exposed brick. However, I do plan on having working electricity and running water. The wood gridwork you see in the back will have windows, forming a glass wall between the bedroom and the main space. It will be wavy glass for privacy reasons :).

Here's a picture of the building (which I stole from the developers website):

It only has a small gap between it and the CAC if i remember correctly. It's not possible to walk between the two. It's almost directly across the street from the 5/3 garage and fountain square.

Super...great with the brick and timber....

Thanks. I'm hoping it all turns out well.

So, anyone other than myself and Kendall going to buy a place? The time is right! :)

oh good its none of that "soft loft" crap

oh good its none of that "soft loft" crap

What's that? I picture a loft with pillow lined walls.

in a way, its more of a conventional apartment with high ceilings. loft inspired, simply to play up the place as "trendy".

Good Question...

CiNYC how about you?

i'd love to buy, but it just isn't feasible with my current income.

besides, i'll be in and out of the city throughout the rest of school and then hopefully landing a job elsewhere.

really wish i could though, but these things are all out of my range.

Mark you dont live next to the Chiquita building you live next to convergys center the chiquita building is across from the Procter & Gamble global headquaters but wow i wish i could live downtown everything is just so high except the sixth and race apts. but they are all full

looks cool mark, look forward to more pictures along the way :)

i wish i could dig up some photos of Kinsey during construction. from what I've read/heard this building was about to fall over when MED bought it

You're right.. I was thinking one and saying another... Also, check out the apartments in the Lombardy Building on 4th, my brother lives there and it's quite reasonable.

Is anyone out there purchasing a condo at Graydon Place in downtown Cincinnati?

If so, please send me an email at [email protected]. I myself am purchasing a unit. We currently meet regularly, and we'd love to see everyone who is purchasing a unit attend.

Also, if you happen to run across someone who is purchasing a unit there, please pass on my contact information - it may be in their best interest.

Thanks!

I posted this in Urban Bar as well - hopefully that's not a problem. This is technically new development as well :).

mark, I'm not a purchaser but I've been watching the goings-on at the Graydon site for several months (I can see it out my office window). It's starting to look like they're down to the finish work. Am I right? I'd love to see what those places look like.

It depends on the floor, but yes, on many floors they are down to the finish work.  A few folks have even moved in.  I'll see if I can get some updated photos posted after my next visit.  My unit is on the second floor, and they are more or less moving from top to bottom, so mine isn't as far along.

  • 2 weeks later...

Here's what my unit looks like currently.  It's towards the back of the building, the windows face Ruth Lyon's Alley.  They are more or less working their way from the top of the building to the bottom, so since my unit is on the 2nd floor, it's not as far along as some of the others:

Steel beam that goes the width of the unit:

aaa.sized.jpg

This will eventually have glass panels installed.  It's the wall between the bedroom and the living space:

aad.sized.jpg

Gas Fireplace:

aaf.sized.jpg

Exposed brick wall, facing Convergys building, wood beamed ceiling:

aag.sized.jpg

Kitchen area:

aae.sized.jpg

Here are some pictures of a unit with the same floorplan as mine that's a bit further along since it's on an upper floor.  Obviously the finished will be different on my unit:

aaa.sized.jpg

Inside bedroom, looking out:

Completely different unit facing the front of the builiding, bigger and much more $$$:

I'm happy to share if anyone has questions... I also have some pictures of properties I've looked at in OTR if anyone would like to see those.

That's going to be a great looking place when it's finished.

Yeah, post more pics of the OTR places!

^ I agree with kendall.

indeed

A couple I know bought a unit there, It looks great and is in a perfect location, right in the middle of downtown. hope you enjoy it and spread the word about the joys of living downtown.

Thanks all.  Mr Coffee, do you have any contact information for that couple, or could you pass on mine?  I'd like to get them included in the group if they aren't already.

mark, can you post those OTR pics? Thanks!

I will, soon as I get a chance.  I've been super busy.

  • 4 months later...

Wow, this is completed?  I should move in and tell the developers! :P

Oops...my bad!  I didn't mean to move this and did by accident!

How's your place coming along?

No problem.  I'll see if i can get around to posting some updating pics tommorow.  It's slow going.

One of the units for sale said "immediate occupancy".  Have they finished some of the floors?

Most units are occupied at this point.  Mine is one of the last to be completed.  Some units have also been resold for various assorted reasons...
