Public sex draws 10 days in jail

BY KIMBALL PERRY | [email protected]

A man and woman Cincinnati police arrested Wednesday for having sex in public during rush hour have been sentenced.

Barbour, 37, and Walters, 48, each pleaded guilty Thursday to public indecency and were sent to jail for 10 days each by Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Cheryl Grant.

The caller said a man and woman were having sex in the median at 200 W. Central Parkway, downtown. When police arrived, they could see the couple having sex from the police cruiser as it sat in the street.

But can the officers account for the 7 minutes from the time they pulled over to the time they exited the cruiser.

The Enquirer article fails to mention the fact that the two people caught having sex on the Central Parkway median are homeless.

On channel 5 last night they interviewed a couple of homeless people in Washington Park.  This couple was engaged and they said that they wait until they can save up enough money to get a cheap motel room.

Even at that...couldn't they have found a more discrete location?  I mean a park, abandoned building, alley, whatever...but in the median of a major street through downtown?!?!

Oh, I don't disagree with that.  My only point was that their homelessness is a fairly major reason why they were having sex in public.  It seems ridiculous that the Enquirer would omit that.

It is very ridiculous, but unfortunately that is the type of journalism I have come to expect from the Enquirer.  :|

^ ^ But in a highway median? I mean, I can list like 10,000 discrete places, like the "Condom Garden" church in OTR, that would be much more comfortable and secret.

Hopefully charges will be filed against the people who were harboring this guy. Part of the problem in this city isn't so much the actual criminals as the whole crime culture.

Cops arrest 'Lil Al'

BY EILEEN KELLEY

A 15-year-old on the run for two weeks after being accused of murder was rousted out of bed on East Tower Drive in Westwood early this morning and locked away.

Alfonso “Lil Al” Price is accused of stomping on the swollen belly of his pregnant girlfriend.

May this guy burn in Hell.

A truly disgusting act...this kind of behavior is simply unacceptable!

this kind of behavior is simply unacceptable!

.....

Tongue-tied lately? :)

I call it ridiculous that this guy is even allowed to live!

dot dot dot dot dot as in, wow thats a huge understatement.

Lock his ass up and throw away the key. People like that don't need to be exposed to society.

You must keep in mind that this was most likely a crime of passion.  It's a tough spot to be in, and he was clearly around the wrong people...which contributed to the scenario that played out.  Factor in the age of the individual and you have a scenario that is unacceptable, but with that said...these terrible things do happen from time to time.  Should we take him out back and shoot him (we might like to) but is that the right response.  I try to be open-minded to these things and look at the situation critically not emotionally.

His ultimate punishment will be having to live with the fact that he did this to what would have been his child.

I'm sorry, but that just ain't good enough.  His punishment should be thorough, long-lasting and, optimally, painful.

Open-minded about this?  Crime of passion?  It's one thing to just punch someone, or to destroy property, but we're talking about someone who beat up his pregnant girlfriend so badly that she lost the baby!  There is no excuse for this.  Factoring in the age of this individual makes it even more disturbing.

His ultimate punishment will be having to live with the fact that he did this to what would have been his child.

I think the average person would feel guilty, but I have to wonder about someone who could do this.

Well, I actually have an uncle that beat up his wife so badly she lost the baby. That was probably 20 years ago. I always found him to be a genuinely nice guy; he was always really nice to me. But now he's in jail for MURDER because a few years ago he killed a single mother with 3 children in Columbus. She just happen to be caught up in the crossfire. Bottom line is people are prone to the same behavior patterns, even after jail and I can't have sympathy for those kinds of people. There's just too much at risk. I know my opinion isn't any more valid than yours; I just thought "simply unaccceptable" sounded like something you'd say to a 15 year old boy that was out past curfew.

I personally don't know the individual, maybe someone else on here does but I doubt it.  The severity of the act does not change the fact that it was a crime of passion.  I'm not condoning these actions, I'm just saying that we shouldn't be so "off with his head."  Emotions factor in greatly in a crime such as this.  I don't have the answers, and I don't disagree with the feelings of everyone else on here (total disgust).  I just don't know the individual or his personal life so I'll reserve my "off with his head" sentiments until I know more...that's all I'm saying.

There certainly are people who just can't be helped/saved, but there is a chance for most.  I just think that one GIANT mistake was made here...let's think it over real hard and exhaust every option so that we don't make a second mistake.

I get the impression it was not an act of passion. That is, he already knew of the pregnancy. Later when he was out with friends he decided to kill the fetus. Or he went out with his friends for the sole purpose of doing the same. Remember the guy has a history of violence. This was not an isolated incident.

But shouldn't the girl be charged with rape of  a minor or something ?

And shouldn't the people who helped hide him be charged with something like aiding a fugitive ?

That article was the first I heard of the guy...so maybe that is why I have a different thought process than some others.  I typically skip over those stories when reading online...and I don't even bother watching the local news.  If it was premeditated and he has a history of violence on top of that then it surely is a different scenario.

Violent offenders given message: This must stop

BY JOE WESSELS | CINCINNATI POST

August 1, 2007

CINCINNATI - About 80 people already in trouble with the law for their connections to violent crimes in and around Cincinnati were given a choice Tuesday: Be a part of the solution to reducing gun-related violence or face ever-harsher penalties

Calls had gone out through probation officers and police officers to identify those responsible for the dramatic rise in gun violence in the city and county. Those identified were told to report to Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge John Andrew West's courtroom Tuesday afternoon for one of two sessions. Some came shackled together straight out of jail cells in the Hamilton County Justice Center.

Deputies take bite from crime

OVER-THE-RHINE – Behind the wheel of the black-and-yellow Hamilton County sheriff’s cruiser, Sgt. Bill Rarrick rolled slowly over the streets here. He watched the crowds closely, peeked through narrow alleys and occasionally pointed out the area’s prostitutes and pimps.

Last week marked the first anniversary of deputies’ patrolling Over-the-Rhine, a neighborhood once known for its history and culture but now notoriously associated with crime.

Police Investigate Fatal Shooting At W. 8th & CentralPosted By: Neil Relyea

Cincinnati police are investigating a fatal shooting at the Marathon gas station in the Queensgate area Monday night.

The shooting took place after 11 p.m. on West Eighth and Central Avenue.

Police say they are searching for at least one gunman.

That article is something straight out of Sim City!      (LMAO!!!)

That segway article is amazing.

Panhandler shot to death

Woman charged with murder after being asked for 25¢

BY JANE PRENDERGAST | CINCINNATI ENQUIRER

August 8, 2007

QUEENSGATE - He took a bullet over 25 cents.

Donald Francis, who police believe was homeless, stood outside the Marathon station at Eighth and Linn streets late Monday night, asking people for money.

That annoyed Geraldine Beasley so much, Chief Tom Streicher said, that she shot and killed Francis when he approached her,

More guns = More violence

You're right we should continue to allow everybody under the sun to have a gun...that way everyone can shoot each other to resolve their issues instead of taking a more level-headed approach.

You can argue that the guy shouldn't have been panhandling, but did he deserve to die for it?  If this lady didn't have a gun, then this killing could have been avoided (like MANY of the deaths due to guns each year).  Owning a gun should be a privilege not a right...more checks need to take place, character screenings, safety training, etc.  These situations are just simply too commonplace and could be avoided through some of these suggested policies.

Women tend to flip out easily, when confronted in public situations by men. It's really annoying (though I guess it's understandable in most situations). There are a variety of factors but it could be as simple as saying "hey" to them as you walk past them on a sidewalk. In this woman's case, the confrontation definitely didn't warrant the use of a gun...what the hell ever happend to mase (maybe even a taser?). People should be shocking each other, not shooting.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people

If you don't know how and when to use a gun, you don't deserve to have one.

Living downtown, I don't leave my place without pepper spray.  I have never had to use it, but it makes me feel safe against aggressive panhandlers, over indulgers after a ballgame, and those up to no good.  Call me paranoid, but I think I am cautious.

And you have exactly the right attitude.  Guns are far too accessible now; and not every person should be equipped with one.  But in this panhandler situation pepper spray, mace, or even the threat of using those means would have done the trick.

^Well, frankly, I blame cars.

People don't interact with people as much nowadays and don't know how to react as well.

Got a quarter ?

No, But I have a bullet that cost a quarter that I'll pop into you dang head.

I mean, that just isn't logical.

A bad case of "PMS" could be the culprit here.

High-speed chase on Reed Hartman ends with gunfire BLUE ASH - A man was shot and killed by Blue Ash police officers early Tuesday morning when police say he attempted to run over officers after a traffic pursuit that ended at Cooper Road and Reed Hartman Highway. The man was identified as Charles Wayne Bennett, 37, whose last known address was in the 11100 block of Centennial Avenue in Blue Ash. Records indicate he had an extensive criminal history. Blue Ash Capt. James Schaffer said

Ah, thus warranting an officer to climb on the suspect's hood and shooting him in the face practically at point blank.

Wow that video is intense.

Wow that video is intense.

Incredibly intense...I thought David was being over the top with his description.  I guess not.

I don't know, personally I'm appalled that stuff like this barely makes the news while it's a huge injustice that some fratboy at UF gets tasered at low power for resisting arrest.

You guys hadn't seen that Blue Ash footage?  I saw that on the news a few times.

I try not to watch the local news. I get caught up in the newscaster's fear-evoking mannerism and facial expressions.

Yes...I too avoid the local news like the plague.  Once I saw a headline story about a cat being rescued from a hole I had enough.  I do think that CBS is the worst though.  They consistently get neighborhood names wrong and they still use the old c-paw logo for UC.  Seriously it has been like 2 or so years now...get it together.

Well, I'm in DC so local news watching isn't an alternative for me.

Wow 2 kids just got killed right around the corner from me. and just the day before a father and son shot two other people a few more blocks away. I see what's happening.

These landlords are so desperate to rent out their apartment buildings they are lowering their standards and are allowing just about anyone to rent at there place.

Some of the previews are pretty comical though.

IS YOUR SON STEALING YOUR VIAGRA?!

*turns to other camera angle*

FIND OUT WHY YOU SHOULD BE CONCERNED!

More at 11...

True! Some landlords have no standards. You have money? Here's your key. But some places wouldn't be rented if not for that. Have you been in some of those new york style ghetto buildings in OTR. Its amazing that alot of them aren't condemned. I've walked in some & its taken my breath. I guess everyone needs a place to live though.

http://www.officer.com/videonetwork/index.jsp?showid=378811 does anyone know anything about this? (Blue Ash cops fatally shooting a suspect that was evading them in a car).

Wow. I too thought that you were overexaggering the description.

Whatever the reason, there is no need to stand on a car's roof and shoot the punk point blank in the face.

Am I over the top with all of my posts or something? lol
