Girl stabbed to death in West Chester

Man, 18, charged with murder after large fight at apartment complex

By Jennifer Baker, Cincinnati Enquirer, September 10, 2009

WEST CHESTER TWP. - Fifteen-year-old Amber Robinson died Thursday night from a single stab wound that went into her heart, Butler County Coroner Dr. Richard Burkhardt said today.

^Shouldn't that be in the Butler county thread?

Anyone know what happened to the "We shall not be moved" (Miami U.) building at 13th and Vine tonight? Huge alarm going off around 8:45 PM. This was before the police arrived.

Man killed in Northside

The Enquirer, October 5, 2009

NORTHSIDE – Cincinnati homicide detectives said a man is dead after being shot Monday evening.

Police responded to a call about a shooting near the corner of Jester and Gordon streets about 6 p.m.

--

The death is the 48th of the year. Last year at this point, there were 58 murders.

The death is the 48th of the year. Last year at this point, there were 58 murders.

Interesting to me!    I was one that expected numbers to be much higher by now considering the times we are living in.    Encouraging nonetheless!

Keep in mind that violent crimes tend to decrease in frequency over the colder winter months.  So being ahead of the game at this point is very encouraging.  48 homicides at this point would put us on pace for like 60 or so on the year if things were to continue at this trajectory.

Overall Crime is down 6.19% this year over last

I wonder if the relatively cool summer we had contributed to that.

I would have expected that violent crimes would be up in this economic climate.

The connection between weather and crime is really weird...(not winter...that makes sense...but hot summers = bad crime...it's just strange)

But hot summers = bad crime...it's just strange

More people outside dealing drugs would be my guess.

Come on guys If it's being warm it has no effect what so ever if someone wants to kill someone.

Norwood UDF robbed at knifepoint

The Enquirer, October 6, 2009

NORWOOD – Police are searching for a man who robbed the United Dairy Farmers, 3491 Montgomery Road, about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say a white man wearing a dark pants and a hooded sweat shirt held up the store at knifepoint.

Only reason I'm posting this is because 3491 doesn't exist. I think this is the Montgomery/Dana UDF, the one with the loud classical music blaring all hours of the day :D

3941 Montgomery Rd.

This may not be the correct thread, or may have been discussed but what is the deal with the new toyota highlanders that the cincinnati police have been using? Im suspecting they are just their new standard police vehicles since ford is no longer making the crown victoria. Im not sure I enjoy the new logos however..

They are used for the K-9 units. I'm not for sure what they are replacing their standard-issue cars with, but I suspect it is either the Chevy Malibu (or Impala?) or the Dodge Charger.

Ford still makes the Crown Vic for the police market. They are also rolling out a policed out Taurus. The Impala is the policed Chevy until they roll out the new Caprice police car (the old Pontiac G8). I'm not sure anyone is buying Chrysler's right now. No one would risk getting stuck with cars that don't have parts.

"Come on guys If it's being warm it has no effect what so ever if someone wants to kill someone. "

I thought it was common knowledge that hot weather is correlated with crime. There is invariably more crime in summer than winter. They keep prisons cool to keep tempers down.

They say that bad weather is the policeman's friend.

So are these new highlanders just for special purpose or are they the new patrol vehicle choice of the CPD?

^^^"They are used for the K-9 units."

My bad i only saw the post after yours..i was hoping highlanders wouldn't become their standard patrol car. Still don't know if i  like the logo though

Yeah, I'm not 100% sold on the logo yet either.

I'm very familiar with this area, and I know that lots of drug dealing and prostitution goes on here.  It rarely happens on St. Michael Street itself, but rather on some of the lesser traveled cross-streets through that part of the neighborhood.

Anybody else following Maximillian's chasing-down of the Prospect Hill plant thief, broadcast to the world in real time via Facebook? This is more exciting than the OJ Simpson police chase.

Yeah it's very amusing :D

Bystander shot dead in Avondale

By Sharon Coolidge, Cincinnati Enquirer, November 11, 2009

A woman standing near where a fight broke out in Avondale Wednesday night was killed by gunfire, according to Cincinnati police.

Candice Tate, 27, of Avondale, suffered two gunshot wounds and was taken to University Hospital where she died, police said.

700 block of Ridgeway Avenue

Murders have gone way down since the Annies incident.

You know, you pull out a gun on police and you are bound to be killed. They are taught to shoot to kill, not shoot to injure your leg or flatten your tires. A good call on the police.

I go to that car wash all the time.  Maybe it's not safe anymore...

Yes.  Anyone shooting at police officers (or shooting at other people with police officers present) will not survive.

I just deleted the link, but it looks like this was a suicide by cop situation according to the Enquirer.

Soldiers Arrested On Way To Cincinnati With 680 Lbs. Pot

Three U.S. Army soldiers in a rental car pulled over for speeding outside Phoenix have been arrested after authorities said they found 680 pounds of marijuana and $10,000 cash inside the vehicle.

Damn, that's a lot of weed that will never make it to Cincy.

Note to any would-be drug runners out there: If you're driving a car with 680 pounds of weed and $10,000 in cash inside, it's in your interest to obey the traffic laws.

^It always amazes me when I see stories like this.  If you're going to be transporting large ammounts of drugs, cash, or fire arms, go the fucking speed limit! Looks like the weed pipeline will be a bit dry in Cincy this week lol!

Wait don't you want these people to get caught? Why give them common sense idea's???

feel free. Actually it might be better just to make it a new post with the info. I compiled the data for another reason, so run with it.

If I end up looking for an apartment in Cincinnati next year, somebody remind me to avoid the 1900-2000 block of Westwood Northern Boulevard.

IF they close bars for having so many police runs. Why can't they close apartment buildings?

Not really many surprises there.. although how a single apartment complex can have the cops called more than once per day all year long is beyond me.

That 4825 Marburg rd must be shoplifting or something. That's the Center of Cincinnati.

That 4825 Marburg rd must be shoplifting or something. That's the Center of Cincinnati.

I lived in Pleasant Ridge from 2003-2006, so I went there more frequently than I do now.  During that time, I heard of many purse snatchings that took place in their parking lot.  I stopped bringing a purse with me whenever I went shopping there.

I have no idea if this is still true today.  Hopefully there aren't purse snatchings on a regular basis, but maybe the calls are for auto break-ins as well.

2525 Victory Parkway is the old Alms Hotel.  They have an armed guard at the front buzzer, along with a weird painting of Michael Jackson and another of a pride of lions.

1 W. Corry is the University Plaza shopping center. I'm sure shoplifting is the primary cause of calls.

Now tell me how this makes sense?  This was just released not even a month ago!

CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati is one of the safest cities in the U.S., according to Forbes Magazine.

The magazine conducted a statistical analysis of the 40 largest metropolitan areas and ranked them based on four categories of danger: violent crime rates, workplace deaths, traffic deaths and natural disaster risk.

Cincinnati ranked ninth overall for safest cities.
