I found these photos in a basement and thought I would share them!

 

 

Looking north at the corner of 6th and Walnut, the CAC would be in the top middle of the picture

The old Keith Building and Theatre being demolished (looking NW)

 

 

Federal Courthouse on left, looking south at the corner of 5th and Walnut

 

I am not sure where this one was taken, it may be P&G construction or the Peck Federal Building.

^It almost looks like you can see a bit of P&G in that last photo (between buildings).

Yeah, that is the building that either is the P&G building or the Federal building I believe. So the construction would likely be the other.

^Yeah, that has to be the Federal Building. 6th runs along the left side of the photo (I think we are looking at the side of that white tile brick building). Thus, you can see the end of the P&G building along Sycamore.

 

I assume the picture would have been taken from Main Street.

This is not actually the building shown being demolished, this building sat to the right of the one in the pic, and is already a pile of rubble although you can't see it.  The one shown being demolished sits where the little red building is in the postcard.

Holy crap!  What else do you have in those boxes?  More treasures from the past that you'll be sharing with us all soon???

I can understand (sometimes) bringing down a smaller building to put in something bigger but this??  :cry:

The Fountain Square ones are probably from the late 60s.  As far as more photos, there were no more.  I grabbed all the city shots out of the box and headed out!

Found it interesting that the Keith Building in Cincy (which was apparently demolished years ago if I am getting it right) looks much like the Keith Building in Cleveland which still stands on Euclid Avenue and E. 17th (the Cleveland Building being maybe 4-5 stories taller).  I wonder if they were designed by the same architect?
