Posted September 1, 200717 yr Beautiful weather, holiday weekend... and this is just for starters :-) I'll add captions later today. First up - the movies; heading westbound on the Detroit-Superior Bridge (thank god for convertibles!) September 1, 200717 yr Were those from yesterday or earlier today? I went to the rotunda open house and up to the malls to watch some of the airshow today. There is also the "tailgate party" for the Patriot Bowl going on up on Mall C. It is mostly an Army recruitment event, though.
September 1, 200717 yr I also was downtown today for the Subway deck tour, the Cleveland Trust Rotunda tour, general wandering around and even bopped over to University Circle and Coventry. There were tons of people out and about, with the Indians in town, Patriot Bowl and the airshow. Quite busy!!! My father, who was touring the city with me, said he always hears from neighbors in Brecksville that downtown is dead. He said he wished they could've come downtown to see what we saw today. September 2, 200717 yr As usual, excellent shots. In the old at&t building picture, why does one row of windows say "thanks?"
September 2, 200717 yr Growing up I always thought the Erieview tower was ugly (with the exception of the views from the top of the town). Like an acquired taste, I have grown to appreciate it over the years.
September 2, 200717 yr I have grown to like the Erieview Tower as well over the years. I stopped downtown and toured the Subway lower deck but wish I knew that the Cleveland Trust Rotunda was open for tours also. Have been itching to get in an see the glass dome in person. Anyways, great pics to capture the day. https://www.instagram.com/cle_and_beyond/https://www.instagram.com/jbkaufer/
September 2, 200717 yr Awesome pics, MayDay. Florida Guy is right-- Cleveland is great on Labor Day Weekend (not that it isn't any other time :-D). The weather today was perfect to boot. I too was down in the area for the Bridge subway tour, then went to Tower City for a bite to eat, and wandered my way to the Voinovich Park area to watch the air show. Until today, I haven't been to Voinovich Park after they'd moved the William G. Mather, and I'm not sure how other people take to the idea of it being moved, but I like it. It really opens up that side of the harbor to visitors. Though I completely forgot the Rotunda was open. :(
