^The Wainwright Building (which I believe is in St. Louis) designed by Louis Sullivan is typically cited as the first skyscraper.  Nobody has ever called the Ingalls building on 4th and Vine the first skyscraper, but it was the first to be built with reinforced concrete or some such method.

I was at the Reds game last night (actually saw a good game and a win), but kept imagining QCSII looming over the stadium.  Can't wait!

It's definitely not 100 feet higher.  You're probably getting those numbers off of Google Earth's altitude figures, which are usually in the neighborhood but aren't accurate in situations like this.  Even the level of Pete Rose Way is not 100 feet below 5th St.  It might be 70ft. but no more than that and 4th no more than 30ft. higher than 3rd.   

Yeah, I got those numbers from mapmyrun.com(the best website ever created for runners), which uses the Google Earth program.  Maybe it is inaccurate, but I still think the difference between 3rd and 5th street is significant.  That is a fairly steep hill.  Maybe, steep enough to negate the difference in height between the Carew and QCSII.

Personally, I think the Liebskind building looks like a gimmick.  The best view of it is when it seen through the buildings of downtown Cincinnati, coming south down '71.

I think the best view of it is actually from behind the building in Covington.  That's where it looks tallest.

Right on Cramer I noticed that too. The best view ever is from the top of the Hiram Steps on Milton St in Prospect Hill.

JPMorgan to add jobs, space

After buying a unit of Western & Southern Financial Group Inc. and taking two floors in the company's office building at Third and Broadway streets downtown, JPMorgan plans to both expand its space and add more employees downtown.

 

Roy Rogers, the president of Integrated Investment Services before it was sold to JPMorgan earlier this year and now a senior vice president at Morgan, wouldn't provide details, but said expansion is on the company's agenda.

That is all we got.    Generally, the contractors that hire us are concrete related so I would assume they are starting with bids related to foundation work and maybe site prep.  I don't know too many details other than what has been discussed on this thread. 

 

Obvious, they must be moving forward if 1st revision plans are out for bid though.

Changes potentially in store for the Bartlett Building at 4th and Walnut streets could leave more than two dozen downtown tenants, including American Airlines, looking for new homes.

 

Sterling Phoenix Development VI LLC, a Chicago-based real estate investment firm, said Wednesday it was in discussions with "global hotel operators" and is exploring possible "best uses" for the downtown building, which was the city's first skyscraper.

 

Sterling Phoenix purchased the 18-story tower in March 2006 for $8.2 million.

 

At the time the firm said it planned to invest up to $4 million in renovations, which included upgrades to the building's ornate lobby and its grand ballroom.

 

Construction on the building began in 1901 and was finished in 1913.

Around September 2006 CB Richard Ellis took over management of the Bartlett building. Of course the old management were let go along with all but one maintenance guy & they changed security & janitorial service companies as well. The management change didn't go over well with alot of tennants, especially when they "cleaned house".  There was talk of a restaurant in the ballroom but obviously that never happened.

Does anyone  have any  updates on QCSII, such as grounbreaking date, pre-leasing, new height of the building?
