June 30, 200816 yr Parking ends July 6. Give them about a week to disconnect power, sewer lines, put up barriers, bring in equipment and empty out the garage of things they want to keep. Letting the demolition to begain hopefully by th 14th.
June 30, 200816 yr Not sure if anyone has seen these yet. They're said to be very accurate. I think it looks awesome.
June 30, 200816 yr It's amazing how one building will draw out the skyline and make it look longer and more full, especially from the 71 south angle.
July 1, 200816 yr Yea I know! Our downtown is odd sometimes because you have those buildings clumped together by QCS then the buildings hugging Carew. You can see the two clusters very good from NKY. But man when you see downtown from Price Hill, there's a huge gap from the Kroger building on lol. But who knows, Cincy might have a future height wars battle now that QCS isw coming. I don't mind. We have an ass load of space.
July 1, 200816 yr ^^Agreed. I've never seen the second pic before and it definitely changes the skyline.
July 1, 200816 yr After QCS I think they need something within the 700-750 ft range, if not taller, right in the center of the skyline. I know QCS hasn't even started yet but its wishful thinking for the future. ;)
July 1, 200816 yr JM agreed^ There's a huge lot that takes up 6th and Sycamore and 7th and Sycamore. Doesn't the big church own that there? that would be the perfect spot for a monster skyscraper...or 2;)
July 1, 200816 yr THere are two lots there, one adjacent to St. X church, which they own, the other is one block north which is privately owned. But, yes those two lots, Fountain Square West, and the Fourth and Plum lots would fill in the skyline very nicely.
July 1, 200816 yr I would be happy with just getting a Downtown movie theatre ;) A perfect place would be on top of Macy's. Nat and I were talking about this one night when we were watching a movie on the square. People could enter and exit through Vine near Jos. Banks and on Race Near Macy's. Include a restaurant and bar with huge windows and build on top of that for the actual theaters. Amazing views and close to tons of dining options. From what I understand the weight wouldn't be a problem at all.

Doesn't the big church own that there? that would be the perfect spot for a monster skyscraper...or 2;) I think some brick buildings about 10-15 stories tall would be perfect for those lots. More skyscrapers could fill in at 5th & Race and 6th & Vine.
July 1, 200816 yr Death to all surface lots!!! Especially the ones at Central pkwy and Walnut and 6th and vine.
July 1, 200816 yr THere are two lots there, one adjacent to St. X church, which they own I think St. Xavier High School actually owns that lot, not the church.
July 1, 200816 yr You guys mean 7th & Vine? There are no surface lots at 6th and Vine. yes your right 7th and vine!
July 1, 200816 yr ^ You guys mean 7th & Vine? There are no surface lots at 6th and Vine. I don't know, I see three cars parked there. ;) http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=6th+%26+Vine&sll=39.398945,-75.039368&sspn=0.009319,0.017252&ie=UTF8&ll=39.951764,-75.117286&spn=0.001156,0.002156&t=h&z=19
July 1, 200816 yr THere are two lots there, one adjacent to St. X church, which they own I think St. Xavier High School actually owns that lot, not the church. Well, when you get down to the nitty gritty, the Jesuits own the lot, St. Xavier High School, XU, and St. Xavier Church. It's all one big happy Jesuit group of properties.
July 1, 200816 yr ^ Actually I got Vine St. & N 6th St. of Camden NJ too I got 6th and Vine in Cincinnati. Did you click on the link right?
July 1, 200816 yr Let's us take a second to thank our lucky stars that we live and love Cincinnati and not Camden, NJ. Cincinnati on its darkest day is a million times better than Camden.
July 2, 200816 yr ^ Actually I got Vine St. & N 6th St. of Camden NJ too I got 6th and Vine in Cincinnati. Did you click on the link right? I'm seriously not trying to sound like a smart@ss but is there a way to click on a link wrong?
July 2, 200816 yr Yes it was a link to 6th & Vine in Camden, it was a subtle joke since Cincinnati wasn't specified. I was the one being a smart ass. - Back to QCS discussion...
July 2, 200816 yr I'm seriously not trying to sound like a smart@ss but is there a way to click on a link wrong? If you have to ask then you must have been doing it wrong the entire time. :)
July 2, 200816 yr Ha, I'll freely admit that when it comes to computers I'm liable to be doing anything wrong. Anyways, you got me, have a good chuckle about it and lets continue with QCS.

July 3, 200816 yr  Yay! Today is the last working day that people can park in the Western-Southern Garage downtown. The garage, with its 1500 parking spots, officially closes on Sunday, and demolition is slated for Monday. It's all to make room for Great American Building of Queen City Square at Third and Sycamore. The 41-story tower includes office, retail and parking space. American Financial signed a lease to occupy two- thirds of the building. It will be the tallest building in Cincinnati's skyline.
July 4, 200816 yr It's all to make room for Great American Building of Queen City Square at Third and Sycamore. Every time I read the name of this building, I always think it sounds so pompous and arrogant. (Not that it's a bad thing.) The GREAT....AMERICAN....BUILDING!!!!! Made of pure American sweat, blood and tears! Then throw on the Queen City Square tag and it sounds all the more lofty. I think it's hilarious. I hope Great American never stops putting it's name on stuff in Cincy because it's always so badass...especially the ballpark.
July 4, 200816 yr But hey we have a right because not only are we the official queen city, Cincy WOULD HAVE taken off to greater heights that Chicago if it weren't for the depression and close-minded city leaders! so...let's start from a fresh slate!:)
July 4, 200816 yr But hey we have a right because not only are we the official queen city... I don't know how official any of these designations are. Cincy WOULD HAVE taken off to greater heights that Chicago if it weren't for the depression and close-minded city leaders! so...let's start from a fresh slate!:) I hope the smiley face means you are joking. This opinion has been well explained to be ahistorical and absurd on many different threads throughout this forum.
July 7, 200816 yr Channel 5 has a video report about the garage coming down and they showed this god-awful squatty picture. They had some normal shots of how the building will look, but this one cracked me up. http://www.wlwt.com/video/16804562/
July 7, 200816 yr That's the most retarded thing I've ever seen...outside of wipers for headlights lol.
July 7, 200816 yr Channel 5 got all of their images from cincyimages.com except for the short fat one. Who knows where they got that one.
July 7, 200816 yr looks like they have definately closed up shop today at the garage. it looks like there was some paint markings on the sidwalk already too...perhaps to layout a fence.
