August 31, 200915 yr Placing the building at third st instead of north of downtown, is preferable to me because it will extend the view of downtown as seen from across the river.
August 31, 200915 yr ^and as I imagine, it doesn't obscure other "talls" except from the more obscure/less popular viewing angles.
September 2, 200915 yr Has anyone taken a picture from the cut in the hill, and could you put it on this web site? Thanks!
September 2, 200915 yr As of this afternoon, I can finally see the steel rising 1 floor above P&G from my house. YAY!!
September 4, 200915 yr There is an underground garage which appears to occupy the entire site, including the space below the tower, and then there will be a separate above-ground garage, which will occupy the part of the site that is not the tower, except for a relatively thin strip along Sycamore St., which will be a lobby connecting 4th St. with the tower's main lobby. You can also see that there will not be a ground floor lobby at 3rd St., they have already installed elevators to the main lobby which is roughly 25ft. above ground level.Â
September 5, 200915 yr I noticed something the other day. This tower will be quite taller than renderings show. If you take the smaller tower and stack 2 more on top of it, the crest will still be taller than that. Go across the river or somewhere with a good view and measure with your thumb or something. It's going to be pretty damn tall.
September 6, 200915 yr You can also see that there will not be a ground floor lobby at 3rd St., they have already installed elevators to the main lobby which is roughly 25ft. above ground level. Â escalators. Â the mounts of underground parking is staggering, albeit, necessary for a structure of that size. That was abig hole they have filled in on the north half....

escalators.  the mounts of underground parking is staggering, albeit, necessary for a structure of that size. That was abig hole they have filled in on the north half....  Yeah I think it was something like 160Ft? Correct me if I'm wrong maybe it was 80Ft I know it was really deep at the back but not so much at the front where the tower itself is. They are just now getting out of that pit this week. So yeah that's one monster garage! LOL!!!
September 6, 200915 yr Some one should take a screen shot of the construction cam tonight to see what it looks like when they have those fireworks. I bet that it will be an awesome view. To see all those people and the fireworks. I would but I'll be there so I can't.  http://queencitysquare.com/construction.htm  On second thought the angle may not be right, but it's worth a shot!
September 6, 200915 yr Man I bet the view on top of QCSII is awesome...haha look at those guys sitting down on the roof. Man what an awesome site I love the progress these guys are making. I honestly wish I could quit my job to work on this site. How fun would that be! I love construction work!
September 6, 200915 yr Crazy some guy has to climb that crane everyday. Â Actually he only has to go up 80 feet or so because where they tie it down they go up at that point. So it's not too bad, but man the view from that crane must be awesome. And they stay in there all day, only coming down if they have to poop. If they pee they use a bucket. At least that was what one of the guys told me.
September 7, 200915 yr Can anyone tell me how I can highlight a comment made by someone, so that I can then make my remarks about the comment? (as some of you do) Thanks!
September 7, 200915 yr Just hit that "Quote" box in the top right of every post. It will put it in the quick reply box on the bottom of your screen.
September 8, 200915 yr So I guess they're gonna wait until the core reaches full height before we see any curtainwall? They're already half way up?
September 9, 200915 yr WE HAVE CURTAIN WALL!!!    iPhone 3G pics: "It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton
September 9, 200915 yr That little piece of curtain wall actually looks comical! It looks like its just a test piece! lol
September 9, 200915 yr It looks like its just a test piece! lol  There's a good chance that's exactly what it is. It would be foolish to build a curtainwall system of that size without first doing a mockup.
September 9, 200915 yr I was in University Park Apartments today at UC and I could see the top of the building and the crane shooting up above the skyline, you could see it from floors 3 - 6.
September 9, 200915 yr The core is currently about halfway up, but not the steel. Â Actually the steel is half way up the core is past half way (24 floors). The steel is on the 20th. Well they're working on the 20th so if you want to be technical no they're not completely halfway, but if you count the floors all the way up it's 20 steel "floor" frames up. Which is roughly or approximately halfway. Â
September 9, 200915 yr I was in University Park Apartments today at UC and I could see the top of the building and the crane shooting up above the skyline, you could see it from floors 3 - 6. Â Yeah you can see it now in the distance from 471 also. I saw it when I was at the Riverfest 2009 this past weekend. They even got the air plane markers on lol! I love this! Go Cincinnati! Â I got a stupid question. Are they gonna knock out the walls between the two buildings where they are side by side or are they just gonna have those people looking next to a wall of glass at another bulding. On street level it looks like it's gonna be flush? I'm not sure what they're intentions are it would be neat if they join them. To make one super massive floor lol! Or at least a door to enter into the next building?
September 9, 200915 yr Once complete, they will probably combine lobbies or at least a floor or two. That would suck if you worked on the top floor of the smaller building and had to go to the top of the taller one.
September 10, 200915 yr I don't think the buildings will be connected in any way. There is no point since the existing building is already leased.Â
September 10, 200915 yr ^Curious. Phase II is directly against Phase I. It looks like they are meant to be connected. How will they attach Phase II's curtain wall? "It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton
September 10, 200915 yr First part of the curtain wall is up. Photo via @mark_vaughn on Twitter.  Yeah someone has already posted this bud!
September 10, 200915 yr Looks like that first segment of curtainwall was the real deal, and not just a mock-up.
September 11, 200915 yr Man that thing is coming up fast. CWMcann18, where was that first pic taken from?
September 11, 200915 yr Man that thing is coming up fast. CWMcann18, where was that first pic taken from?  Looks like it was taken from the Licking Valley Girl Scout bridge (12th st).
September 11, 200915 yr Another row of curtain wall is going up above the existing row. This looks to be the real deal! "It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton
September 11, 200915 yr Wow awesome...i was wondering when they were going to start moving up. I remember seeing the curtain wall truck this morning. So I figured they were putting up more! WOOT!!!
September 14, 200915 yr This the first pic I have seen where the size of QCS is underwhelming. I know it is because of perspective but it looks less imposing from this angle. BTW, I think this is the first time I have noticed how huge the floor plates are on Atrium II. If it only had the same footprint as Atrium I with same sqftg it would have been quite tall.
September 14, 200915 yr For those who live/work downtown? have they put up anymore curtainwall since last week?
September 15, 200915 yr 9-12-09: Aww, I almost got it dead-on!  I just realized how interesting it will be to stand on top of Carew and see the crown above and directly in front. Is there any way to render that shot?
