June 23, 201014 yr Relax, they have one more arch to go... Three more arches to go "It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton
June 23, 201014 yr ^ Then I believe it's "two more levels in the tiara"... "It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton
June 23, 201014 yr There are some small outside facilities that are accessible from those respective floors. None of these will be open to the public, though. I am not for sure about the top, however. Right. I suspect they would be a perk of the office tenant, just as they are in Atrium II, and not open to the public. For no apparent reason, I sort of thought QCSII would not have any outdoor access, like the Scripps Tower....but it makes sense with all the notches and indentations up near the upper end.
June 23, 201014 yr ^ Then I believe it's "two more levels in the tiara"... What are you talking about? From what I can see in the webcam, it's only one more level to go. What am I missing? :wtf:

What am I missing? :wtf:  You know how there are "three more arches" to go? Well, two of them are at "one level" and the top one is at another "level"... We need a standard way of talking about this, lol. Actually, once the darn thing is built, it will be irrelevant, I hope. And that is soon...I hope.

June 24, 201014 yr ^ Thank you, Dirty Sandpit. I was almost getting ready to post photos myself to clarify what I meant. Really, guys, I'm not trying to cause any arguments. I see 3 distinct arches so far, which means there is only 1 left.
June 24, 201014 yr Yea this technical talk will give people heart attacks. Yeah, something like that. A year from now we'll be looking back on this discussion as irrelvant.
June 24, 201014 yr You knew what we were talking about Cygnus. Actually DS, I was in fact commenting that you were, and continue to be, incorrect. Not that any of this really maters or is worth all these multiple postings... There are still three more arches to be installed. Two of which are the same height with the other being the center arch. You can clearly see this from either the west or east side of the building. "It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton
June 24, 201014 yr Well, I still think she's looking sexy as ever!!.....but, I want to see the final product before I start critiquing!! :drunk:

You can clearly see this from either the west or east side of the building. Not to belabor the point, but I think we're both correct. As of now there seems to be: 6 of 8 Major Rings installed. 6 of 9 Minor Rings installed. Each Arch that we are talking about consists of 2 Major Rings with 3 minor rings in between each Arch. Together they constitute one whole section of the tiara itself because the pattern repeats itself; therefore they can be considered a grouping. Also each SECTION seems to protrude just a little signifying a separation between the others, thus the other distinction. There seems to be only three such patterns like these and one smaller arch which begin the tiara which I don't count. But if you really wanted to be technical than it would be four overall main arches made up of 9 smaller arches with spokes spaced out between those. Sorry guys I just had to clear this up, it would bug me all day. LOL
June 24, 201014 yr I'm loathe to step in here, but since I work nextt to the building....keep in mind this: if you look at it from the side, you will see that the tiara constructed to date, on the north and south sides, comprises, in total, about 1/2 of the total width. Putting it simpler, the middle section, which has yet to be installed, will be 50% of the total. So there's still a huge chunk to go. If you want perspective, look at it from the approach to the People Purple Bridge.
June 24, 201014 yr Okay, I think I pretty much understand what Cygnus AND Dirty Sandpit are saying. What I'm calling the final "level" consists of 3 arches. So as to my original question: there is only 1 "level", consisting of 3 segmented arches, left to construct...correct? Again, sorry to cause a problem.
June 24, 201014 yr Dear QCS, Please complete your building (just the exterior is necessary.) Some of us are having trouble dealing with your continued construction. Sincerely, so it goes
June 24, 201014 yr I'm much more confused by all this confusion than I am by the rather obvious plan for this building.
June 24, 201014 yr Isn't that the fun of watching this being built, to nitpick all the little details. You may not want them to finish too soon 'cause this kind of talk will move on to the Banks thread.
June 24, 201014 yr ^ Don't even get me started on that glass cube they're proposing for the Banks. How many layers are in that cube? Does double-pane glass count as one or two?
June 25, 201014 yr More importantly, does the height of the cube include the parking garage? It is below street level, but technically above grade right? or do we just count height from street level?
June 25, 201014 yr And will it have a Flagpole? "It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton
June 25, 201014 yr And will it have a Flagpole? Well, I don't know. If it does, the question would then become whether the pole is solid, or if it's made of multiple segments bolted together. If it's segmented, then I presume each segment would represent a level. Then there's also the question of whether the base structure of the pole was shrouded by a curtain. I highly suspect we're going to get in trouble for taking this OT. Perhaps we should start a new thread and debate the flagpole there...? lol.
June 25, 201014 yr Sadly, or happily in many of your cases, I don't consider this OT enough to start deleting.
June 25, 201014 yr ^You should have said, "One year ago today, I took this photo. Also, Michael Jackson died."

June 26, 201014 yr Even though its almost done, still wish there was a rendering of what it would look like at night with lights inside the tiara.
June 26, 201014 yr Which skylines does this building makes the skyline match or surpass now? Minus the smog, the view is super awesome coming down the cut in the hill. The Covington Skyline blends into it.
June 26, 201014 yr Some Pictures with my new Nikon camera. I'm super excited, and the photos look so much better IMO. Here are some samples I took today. I'm still Learning how to use this camera so if they look bad please don't say anything. LOL! Enjoy. Zoomed in and cropped
June 27, 201014 yr ^Hold on to that last photo, for once the tiara is complete it will no longer look like batman.
June 27, 201014 yr ^Hold on to that last photo, for once the tiara is complete it will no longer look like batman. I think you mean Optimus Prime.
June 27, 201014 yr I like the new view coming down 71 into downtown w/ the QCS and the Ascent both visible. Both of those buildings use a similar color pallet as well.
June 27, 201014 yr Its funny because when you go 75 south into downtown, QCS looks like a midget. You drive through the cut in the hill and it'sa damn beast. That elevation is killin it.
June 27, 201014 yr I kinda like the east/west side view of the tower more than the front. definitely. from the side it looks slender and properly proportioned. from the front its a hot mess.
June 27, 201014 yr Why do people keep dissing the "wide" side of QCS? It's no big deal...so what, it's wide on two sides. The building is a freaking rectangle..GET OVER IT. It's been mentioned over and over and over again...and it IS NOT going to magically change the shape of the structure. The building was built for a specific tenant for specific floor plate sizes and the more recent additions of the silver window mullions have done a great job of emphasizing verticality considering the width. I don't hear this kind of B*tching about the wide side of Carew. sorry for the rant
June 28, 201014 yr Carew looks good on the wide side. :-D Yes, I'd say Carew has the opposite problem. Too narrow on the narrow side.
June 28, 201014 yr I say we should have none of this wide or narrow rubbish! 'Tis proportional squares and circles for buildings from now on folk! And a ban on tiara's! :-P “All truly great thoughts are conceived while walking.” -Friedrich Nietzsche
June 28, 201014 yr Agreed...I have been trying my best to fall in love with QCS because it is giving so much to the skyline but that view from the Covington cut, while impressive showcases the malnourished stature of pre-millenium high rises in Cincinnati. One solution: Another tall and fatty for the west end of DT!

I wasn't dissing the front "wide" view at all. In fact, I like it, too. I just like the way the building looks from the side better, that's all. Sorry for upsetting you.
