Chrysler, Sears, AT&T, etc. would all like to speak to you.

Well.. at least at some point in the past they would have!  With corporate architecture, they look for a balance of mundane and impressive.  With QCS they went for height, and the "tiara."  I'll wait until they hoist that giant thing up there to pass off judgment on it.  It could end up being beautiful.

That a pretty picture, but ask what the vacancy rate is?  That paints another picture, doesn't it.  Considering four buildings in that picture have vacancy rates at 50% or higher.

>Chrysler

Compare and contrast New York's Chrysler building and the current Bloomfield Hills, MI headquarters. The current Chrysler headquarters is one of the most hideous corporate complexes I'm aware of.

A big problem with skyscraper design is any skyscraper that decides to "face" in a particular direction.  Many condo towers face bodies of water and do so decently but for whatever reason nobody gets it right with corporate towers.

The other thing is this is above all else an investment and easy to build a distinct tower in Cincinnati just by building a tower, especially since there hasn't been a major new tower in over 15 years.  In Chicago or New York there are many of similar styles going up at once so in order to stand out the thing's got to be odd.

Yesterday at sunset:

Auburn Hills, you mean.

I saw QCS from the Paul Brown parking lot, and it definitely does not look squat, but tall and somewhat slender from this perspective...very nice!

Probably with a camera of some sort, like most pictures are taken.

I'm curious who the people are in the photo.

Not the same ones who did these:

I don't know, it could be a daguerreotype

After further review, it really just looked like a Photoshopped rendering to me.  It's clearly a fake.  Look at some of the pixels, you'll see what I mean.

Clearly it's just a picture.  A Nice perspective BTW!!! 8-)

You guys are so sneaky...

Na, I saw Thomasbw flirting with one of the construction workers.

Is it me or do they have christmas lights in QSCII?

At it's current height, is the Great American Tower now the 2nd tallest structure in Cincinnati?

^Not quite yet

^Not quite yet

Has it not passed the Scripps center or PNC Tower yet? The core is at the 39th level right? Or will it only be the tallest when they add that stupid tiara thingy!  I really wish the tower was at least 600 feet before they add that thing on it.

Looks like they raised the crane today - this may be the last time just to finish the core and most of the towers structural steel - then raise it again for the 160ft."topper"

When do you think they will begin that process? Late Spring - early Summer? That should be something very interesting to observe. I understand it's being made somewhere in Missouri and then sent to Cincinnati in "sections".

Tiara: 130 feet high

Total Height: 660 feet

Eclipsing the Carew Tower by 86 feet

^That's better than a 130 foot antenna right? ;)

I just heard a rumor that the Carew Tower is planning to add on a 90 foot dirigible mooring mast in order to keep their crown for the tallest building

What? This is a joke right? Also, looks like the core just hit the 40th level.  Next week should be the end of the road for the core!!!

No, it's true. It's going to look something like this, all Art Deco like:

Just not as tall.

I think it is true.  The USS Akron needs a mooring site in the urban core.

I thought it was for our Wiremobile:

Actually, come to think of it, I think the top of the Carew Tower was going to be the base point of the new Space Elevator:

Pardon my ignorance, but what's a "mooring"?

from my perspective, I would say the core is at around 37 right now.

LOL.  Actually, I kind of like the sound of this.

That would be awesome! If only it were true! Nothing wrong with a little friendly competition.  Maybe WS and Eagle will go back to the drawing board and build another tower where their other garage is just to the east of QCS.

I can confirm.

How do you think Cleveland gets its "tallest" claims?

Are you counting floors or guessing from looking at it?  It's definately at the 40th. Because the steel is at the 36th on the north side. Plus on the front they have big numbers to tell you which floor they're on and I counted 40 to the core yesterday.

Yeah it would be awesome because to me QCS is just a fat office tower with on big crown on it.  Why shouldn't Carew tower have one of their own! That would make it what 664ft lol?

You guys are so funny.

That rotating clock should be placed atop the new tower.  People in NKY need to know it is 38 degrees.

Carew versus QCS

Since light rail opposition continues to be strong, the alternative clean energy, mass transit plan is to use Zeppelin's to ferry suburban commuters in and out the CBD.  Carew Tower would become the central transit hub.

^Indeed!!!  Haha, I like it!

Wiremobile from the top of the Carew tower to the top of the WLWT Broadcast tower in Clifton Heights.

Speaking of this, the WLWT tower looked AWESOME today peeking in and out of the clouds from my clifton heights street. If only it wouldn't give my stereo so much interference hiss...

Be careful about discussing a specific route, next thing you know Michael Earl Patton will get out the graph paper and "prove" the wiremobile can't make the turns.

A pic from today.....
