They have literally done nothing in terms of installing curtain wall for the month of February. In January they installed 5 floors worth of aluminum siding and completed the south bottom facade. This month, they did 1.5 floors of aluminum siding and a small section of facade on the west side of the building. I know it snowed, but it only snowed for a few days and most of those days were on the weekend. I believe they're sleeping on the job now. And when are they supposed to start installing the Tiara? Begining or End of March??

LED's would be an excellent choice, as the color can change cheaply. If I'm correct, the Empire State Building has gel caps that are placed over a series of white LED's, rather than different colored LED's themselves. With the blue-ish curtain wall, the color choices could be limited. Orange and black Bengals stripes would be awesome, but ugly compared to the blue.

LED's would be sweet. I hope someone in authority is thinking about this.

Hm... According to the mural at Lucy Blue Pizza, it looks like QCS has already been completed.  Why does the webcam not show this!?  :?

Hmm...I love the local pride, but I don't think I like that mural.  I'm not expecting everyone to be Da Vinci, but there's a little TOO much "artistic license" there.  And Lucy Blue is creeping me out.  Get out of the fountain!

She looks hot.

and why is QCS shorter than the scripps building.  Terrible depiction of cincinnati if you ask me!  :x

At least the Carew Tower has a big flagpole.

FWIW driving in from the Westside, Carew "looks" substantially taller than QCS. Even when the Tiara is added, Carew will stand tall. It even looks a little chubby.

She looks hot.

Looks like a student-made mural in the entrance of a middle school

LIG and Ram, you guys crack me up.

BRM, it could've been made by a middle school ... you never know!

It looks like the Central Trust building is taller than Carew there, too.

Why is the chick climbing the fountain. That's illegal.

You're right! The Central Trust's nipple peaks right over the top of the Carew's flagpole.

Perhaps what QCS's tiara needs is a nipple?

she's why they put that fence up

is that Stillwater?

Off topic but I couldn't find a thread for this --

They took the letters off the top of the National City tower, now that they've rebranded as PNC.  Anyone know if they're going to put a PNC logo on the tower now?  Might look a little strange since it's right next to the other PNC tower.

We now have the PNC Tower (SW 4th & Vine), PNC Tower (SE 4th & Vine) and PNC Center (SE 5th & Main)

No building is safe...

New Office Tower On Schedule, Nearly Full

CINCINNATI --

The Queen City Tower will add about 1 million square feet of office and retail space downtown, and developers said most of that space has already been filled.

"Our goal is to be pretty much totally leased up by the time we open the building next year," said Tom Stapelton, of Eagle Realty.

The former National City Tower (SE 4th & Vine) is owned by Great American and not all their operations will be going into QCS so maybe they'll take the naming rights?

Would love to know who the retail tenants are. There seriously needs to be a UDF in there!

Does this mean a QCIII or there are none in the immediate plans?

Does this mean a QCIII or there are none in the immediate plans?

No, because Eagle Realty relied almost exclusively on tenants that were already in the center city office market.  Cincinnati won't get another office tower until 1) a user-specific tower is built for a new company, or 2) older Class B and C office space is filled through new office users or residential conversions.

But hopefully, once the economy gets strong again, a company will see QCS and realize they can build here.  After all, isn't the land here very cheap to build a headquarters? It's all about a positive chain reaction.  You have more entertainment and things to do which brings more people which brings more need.  Tenants have a big influence too.

  • 2 weeks later...

They're adding the crown this month correct?

I believe I read they are adding the tiara in April or May.

Where would a QCSIII go??

Wasn't the other garage built so that a building could be built upon it?  Not that they'd actually do that, but it's a possibility.

I'm thinking they are referring to the currently under construction QCSII garage??

"It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton

No, I mean the other W-S garage that has the spinning time/temperature thing on it.  For some reason, I recall hearing that that garage was built in such a way that it could support a high-rise on top of it.  (This could be complete urban myth, however.)

As a complete random aside, we can now see the QCII tower from our window in the American Building.  Before all we could see was the crane.  :-)

It does not look as if much visible work has been done on the building exterior.

They've been adding curtain wall for months now Jack

A lot of work is being done to the exterior on the N & NE/NW sides of the garage/main entrance.

What I mean is that on the webcam, there has been no sign of curtain wall being added to the north side of the  building. The top 8 or 9 floors do not have the curtain wall, and have not had it for some time.  Am I wrong about this?

The north tower crane is being disassembled today

That must mean that Queen City Square is an official dead project. No work has progressed on the skinning, the crane is being dismantled, and the steel is rusting. May the Mothership reign another 70 years!

Jeez, nothing ever actually gets built in this town!

Like the Wiremobile :D

They could at least add a flagpole, so the skeleton can deliver on the tallest-building promise.

I ask a simple question, and all I get is sarcasm...this is not the place for it...I just inquired if anyone knew why no outer skin has been installed for the last several weeks.

Jack there's no sarcasm.  They've been installing that curtain wall for almost two months.  They have to go floor by floor that's why it doesn't look like they've done much.  Trust me man, it's getting done;)

Well, you got several (real) answers. We can't be all serious, especially on a Friday. It's just great follow-up seeing as how this thread was specifically lampooned in the Business Courier!
