West Union has a real rough feeling to it, but it isn't so bad.

It's a weird courthouse. I was there for the first time a few months ago. It's got a decent addition on the back, but then they covered the limestone or sandstone on the original courthouse with brick to match the addition -- thus making the two parts match, but bringing the original down to the addition's standards instead of bringing the addition up to the original standards.

Interesting little burg.

West Union sucks! lol They are my old high schools arch rival  :shoot:

Nothing in Adams County is much too look at. I live just a few miles from West Union in Peebles but since there is nothing in Adams County I have to work in Cincinnati.

Adams County has plenty to look at. West Union isn't beautiful. Nor are Manchester, Peebles or Seaman. But the countryside is as gorgeous as any place in the state. The views around Buzzards Roost are mountain views, even though they're in Ohio. The hollers and the Ohio River valley are wonderful. Adams County is hidden and underrated.

I hiked Buzzards Roost years and years ago one winter when I first moved to Ohio, probably back in 1989 or 1990.

Adams County and a bit of Highland County remind me a lot of Kentucky, the outer parts of the Bluegrass and then that Appalachian country nearby.

...this baby is really fun!  That first floor ceiling has got to be double height, and then theres a balcony on the third floor!  But that yellow tape...maybe getting ready for demolition (looks like the back of the building is messed up a bit??)

I didn't mean that the countryside isn't beautiful. I was referring to the towns. All the pics posted on here are of West Union but not the country side. I didn't mean to sow any confusion, my bad. I recently took some pics from around the county as well. I will post them as soon as I can if anybody would like to see them.

Where did you go to school? I went to elementary and middle school in Fayetteville-Perry, and my mom teaches there. If they were your arch-rival, you might be my former arch-rival, lol, the ole SHL!

I went to Manchester so we are former rivals too!  :whip:  lol

Peebles is where it's at fellas  :-D

Oh you river rats!

Jk, I go to Wilmington HS now, so I don't really come across many people from Adams County anymore.

This is my favorite building in West Union.
