So I ran accross something on MSN that the Liberty Hotel, the former Charles Street Jail in Boston, is now open.  Just so interesting what can be accomplished with historic preservation given an interesting idea and a little bit of cash.

Below is a link to some of the photos on Boston.com:

. . . and check out some of the photos at the Hotel's website: http://www.libertyhotel.com/

And here was a press release:

BOSTON'S CHARLES STREET JAIL TO BE REBORN AS THE LIBERTY HOTEL, GENERAL MANAGER & DIRECTOR OF SALES & MARKETING APPOINTED

Captivating Luxury Destination to Open Summer 2007

Boston, October 10, 2006

In keeping with the spirit of a landmark liberated, Boston’s storied Charles Street Jail will be reborn aptly named as The Liberty Hotel. The hotel is a national historic landmark at the foot of Beacon Hill with spectacular views of the Charles River and the Boston skyline. It will open as a premier luxury destination during the summer 2007. Additionally, two top industry veterans have been named to key management posts for the $150 million hotel project, now nearing the final stages of an extensive acquisition, historic renovation and construction process.

Former jail becomes hotel named "Liberty". Funny stuff.

^ And a bar called "Alibi" and a restaurant named "Clink".

What a cool reuse project.  Great end result.
