Capture Cincinnati 2008 is currently under weigh.  Are their any UrbanOhio.com forumers participating this year?

Anyone interesting in creating an UrbanOhio Group for Capture Cincinnati?

Here is the information:

If you're a part of a group of photographers, a school, a sports team, an organization, or any other group that has at least four photographers who'd like to upload photos and be associated with each other in a group, fill out the form below and we'll get your group set up. Once it's set up, everyone in the group will be shown on the group's profile page, and the group will be featured on the people page.

If you have already contributed, post a link to your Capture Cincinnati gallery below.

You gotta read the fine print, guys.

"You also hereby grant to us a royalty-free, non-exclusive, worldwide right to copy, edit, adapt, distribute, perform, display, and/or use, the Materials, including any derivative works created from the Materials, in whole or in part, for use in the Capture Cincinnati book, Capture Cincinnati DVD, and promotion related to the Capture Cincinnati project. In addition, you grant to us the royalty-free, non-exclusive, worldwide right to use your name, likeness, and biographical information in connection with the use of the Materials."

Meaning that Capture Cincinnati can and will use not only your photograph, but also your very person and not pay you a dime.

Meaning they will only use it for the book, dvd and marketing of Capture Cincinnati.  Gannett does not have the right(s) to use the photos for anything else to include news stories or other purposes such as marketing themselves.

And not pay you a dime.  "Royalty free" and "right to use" are phrases that should scare people, not entice them.  I'm sure the entries will be beautiful, but I'll not be participating.

Understandable and I decided to not participate for this reason last year but the free marketing and name recognition of having your name and photos on coffee tables across Cincinnati is worth something.

I didn't participate last year, and probably will not this year...but you never know.

I participated last year, and I had one photo published in the book.  I'm not a professional, so I figured I would not make money anyways.  It was just a neat way to upload pictures and see what happens.  If I were professional, I would probably have no interest in submitting photos.
