September 12, 20177 yr Driving into Cleveland tonight on 77 i noticed there was a crane behind the baseball stadium. It kind of looked like the yellow crane but hoisted high. It was also behind the At&t building if that helps out with perspective. I'm thinking that 515 shouldn't be that viewable from I77 though. What crane would that be? It was that crane. You'll be able to see 515 from 77
September 12, 20177 yr Very cool! I wasn't expecting to see anything in the air today. So that crane is going to be building the other crane.

September 12, 20177 yr It appears that there was a crane...building the crane...that will build the real crane...Mind BLOWN. On a more serious note, I dont have any photos, but the secondary yellow crane is massive and has quite the presence in the middle of Euclid
September 12, 20177 yr It appears that there was a crane...building the crane...that will build the real crane...Mind BLOWN. On a more serious note, I dont have any photos, but the secondary yellow crane is massive and has quite the presence in the middle of Euclid Haha! I assumed that was the real crane. I could see it from the innerbelt this morning.
September 12, 20177 yr That crane is set up on Euclid Avenue and will be lifting the tower crane in parts up to the top of the garage.
September 12, 20177 yr As if we don't have enough crane pictures, here's one more from Huron Road in the Caxton Building.
September 12, 20177 yr Robert L Stark from Stark Enterprises. Its the same developer developing nuCLEus across the Q. EDIT: I wasnt sure if you were talking about the developer or the company building it. Glad Arbor is doing it.
September 12, 20177 yr I think he was asking about the construction company rather than the developer.
September 12, 20177 yr Strange since Welty's Cleveland office is in 515. I assumed they would've been the construction company.
September 12, 20177 yr Welty moved their offices last year to the former Sammy's place on W.10th in the flats.

September 12, 20177 yr That vantage point tells me how much we are in need of a May Company building conversion/rehab.

See: https://playeuclid.wordpress.com/ Contact Thomas Starinsky Associate Director Historic Gateway Neighborhood Corporation [email protected] 216.325.0937 What is the “Play Euclid”? • “Play Euclid” is a three-day event taking place during lunch hours – from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. – while Euclid Avenue (between East 4th Street and E Roadway) is closed to vehicular traffic for construction. • The street will be open for pedestrians, offering different activities and live music entertainment. Locals and visitors will also still be able to stop in the businesses in the area while the street is closed. Why is this being done? • As a result of Euclid Avenue being closed for the start of construction on The Beacon (515 Euclid Ave.) during the week of September 11, local organizations wanted to utilize this opportunity to do something fun and interesting in the area. • Groups also wanted to leverage this opportunity to offer more visibility for Downtown Cleveland businesses. • By making this portion of the street accessible for pedestrians, it not only offers entertainment during lunch hours, but it gives people the opportunity to explore the businesses in the district, as well. What kind of activities will locals and visitors find at “Play Euclid”? • There will be a variety of activities offered at “Play Euclid” for locals and visitors. • LAND Studio is providing lawn games and Crackling Art frog sculptures. • Destination Cleveland will offer photo opportunities with its mini #ThisisCLE sign, as well as Giant Connect Four and Giant Jenga, outside of the Cleveland Visitors Center. • UH Bikes will set up a temporary bike station where visitors can obtain a card for a free 30-minute bike rental. • Live music entertainment will also be provided while guests walk around the area. Who is involved with “Play Euclid”? • This collaborative effort was spearheaded by the Historic Gateway Neighborhood Corporation who engaged the following groups organizations that worked hard to put together this event in two weeks’ time: City of Cleveland, Downtown Cleveland Alliance, Destination Cleveland, Bike Cleveland, UH Bikes, LAND Studio, Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative and Trust for Public Land. When and where is “Play Euclid” taking place? • “Play Euclid” is taking place Wednesday, Sept. 13 – Friday Sept. 15, 11 a.m. – 2p.m. It will be held on Euclid Avenue from E 4th Street to E Roadway in Downtown Cleveland’s Historic Gateway District. ### "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

September 13, 20177 yr Watching the Indians game today, the construction crane is very visible in most views. When they do the downtown panoramic view from the upper deck, the crane dominates. September 13, 20177 yr Looks like the construction crane is within the boundaries of the building. That creates a shaft within the building that must be put to use after the crane is removed. Could be the itility uptake and maybe an elevator bank.

September 13, 20177 yr Looks like a decent amount of the tower crane has been set up. It's now visible above some of the downtown buildings!!! So nice to see this on the skyline!!!
September 14, 20177 yr ^Hopefully there will be more, soon, like a few blocks up Euclid at E. 17th Street.

Even without the tower crane, that's just a really cool shot of downtown. I don't think I've ever seen it from that angle before. It definitely is an interesting perspective of the city (and it'll be a different angle to view the new construction). I'll try to keep the pics coming to update the progress!!!

September 14, 20177 yr Awesome. Crazy how the tower crane is literally sitting on the parking deck with just a stack of counter weights to keep it steady.
September 14, 20177 yr Even though one of these cranes is just temporary, it's nice to see 2 of them up in the air. Hopefully fairly soon we'll have at least one more crane up over the city to continue the building!!!
September 14, 20177 yr There will be a crane going up for the Q renovation fairly soon. Or there already is one |--------------------------------------------------------------|\ |____________________________________________|_\ |_O_| |X| \ \ |_O_| |X| \ \ |X| \ \ |X| \ \ |X| \ | |X| \ | |X| \| |X| | |X| / \ |X| / _\ |X| \ / |X| \ / |X| //\\ |X| |/ \| |X| |X| |X| |X| |X| |X| |X| |X| |X| |X| |X| |X| |X| ________________ |\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/| ----------------------
September 14, 20177 yr Is the crane that was just constructed at the max height already or will it be raised as the building is built?
September 14, 20177 yr A view of the crane construction from a few days ago (Tues. Sept. 12, 2017), in which we can see the tower crane sections up close.
September 14, 20177 yr Is the crane that was just constructed at the max height already or will it be raised as the building is built? No. There will be another section added once they reach the max height of the current crane
September 14, 20177 yr It's close to 200,000 lbs of counter weight I wonder if there are supports under the crane on the other floors of the garage. That is a lot of weight to support.
September 15, 20177 yr It's close to 200,000 lbs of counter weight I wonder if there are supports under the crane on the other floors of the garage. That is a lot of weight to support. Yes, there is. When we were looking at the project, the crane needed to be re-shored all of the way down the garage to the basement slab.
