i made a picture a while back I believe July, which detailed what went where... it looked pretty nice... I could try to reconstruct the photo I made as it isnt on my computer anymore... It added PHS, 515, NuCleus, and at the time the photo didn't include both the Hilton or the Edge apartments, so I added those into the picture as well. The results were just very pleasing. It doesn't even look like we were a troubled city... Sadly the photo got deleted and never resurfaced because of the issues we had with the UO a few months ago...

  • To do that, we would need to refurbish the May Company building with hundreds of residences, turn Tower City into a massive business incubator with some high-profile tenants, add another high-rise apa

Some iPhone photos of a tour I took today. So here are some take-a-ways.    1. The balcony level is fully leased and currently has a five year waiting list. 2. The color schemes of each

Yes that would be nice if you could reconstruct that picture.

Fresh load of steel was being dropped off this morning!

When I get home today I may have some time. Expect the future by tonight or tomorrow.

There is this but it would be nice to see just the two buildings that we know for sure will be built not including the question marks.

Yeah, I wouldn't include Jacob's because there's just way too much uncertainty to it. Surprised there hasn't been a war between Stark and the Westin. It's prime real estate. But I will for sure add NuCleus, because I want you guys to feel like you're missing something.

I always revisit this picture on google... Just thought it represents of things to come. We surely are getting there.

This surely gets me motivated enough to render the photo.

Love that PHS isn't included in this... shows the momentum of the project

Isn't that it at the end of the right hand side in the middle?

^Nope. Center is Beacon, in front and to the right of that is Nucleus, and then to the right must've been either the Edge or a former proposal in PHS

I thought it was just facing the wrong direction, seems to be the location. Yes must be old proposal. The new PHS building I think will be taller as well.

^ A couple of 30+ story towers west of PS would really balance everything out and create a pretty damn impressive skyline.

Friendly retort here... I actually think more volume is needed amid Key, 200 Public Square, and Terminal Tower... I actually think we have decent volume around East 6th to East 12th from St. Claire to Euclid.

I think we're talking about the same area....."PS" = Public Square

Let me know how I did!

We're starting to really fill in those gaps!

I believe the photo is courtesy of MayDay, but it's the best northbound view I could find on google. Sorry if I ripped it, but i couldn't find anything better.

^ Excellent job! If I didn't have to work I would just stare at renderings of our future skyline for days on end.

You’ll be hearing from my attorney. KIDDING! View is from Hinckley Industrial Parkway and Spring Road. Nice job on that; only edit I can think of is Playhouse Square Tower is a smidge too tall.

Does anyone here have updating privileges on this site?

I don't have the time or skill to do so, but I always wonder who put these up and who updates them in each city.

It's really kind of fun to snoop across the state and around the world visiting the various stages of progress in each town.

Thanks for that rendering, Tasty, really cool to see that view with the inclusion of Nucleus. Wouldn't it look almost equal in height to 200 Public Square?  - I think there's only a 10 foot difference. Exciting that most of those new projects are residential!

Well sizes aren't exact lol, you think I had a pixel scale to go with that? I also thought the size of PHS was a bit too tall at first, but I think I got it right, atleast aesthetically...

What is the added building at the end right by PHS?

^ The Edge.

Thank you. There is so much development up there these days, I can't keep up.

Let me know how I did!

Just curious, but do you think The Edge would be that prominent from this view?  It's what, an 11-story building?

Sorry to quote all the photos, but you both did a great job.  In this photo are you just adding the Playhouse Square tower and The Beacon?  They both feel in some gaps, and it's nice because The Beacon is moving the eastern skyline towards the big 3, and if NuCLEus gets built in any form, it will also close that gap even more.

^exactly

^Not only will the Beacon fill in the gap, but the PHS tower will essentially widen our skyline. From most views, the skyline pretty much ends at the Erieview.

^From many angles (especially coming from the innerbelt and 77) PHS tower will also bridge the gap between the core of downtown's highrises and Rhodes Tower at CSU, which often seems like it's off on its own.

Lol CSU's Rhodes tower is just too ugly to incorperate into our skyline... There's no wide angle lens that would even encapsulate its existence... You would think for a University founded within the 60's you would want to build something that might be extravagant like and art-deco or a beaux arts tower, but no its just a large concrete pedestal...

Also you can definitely see steel rising before the 90 bend on 77. Will really add something to my morning drives.

Starting to peak out from Superior and E 6th viewpoint.

Beacon (and background) from 49th floor of Key.

But the 50-70s was arguably the WORST time when it came to architecture lol.

Haha, that's what I was thinking.  I expect nothing better out of pretty much anything built in that time period.

Does anyone know about how many more floors of steel they have left?

^its going to be 19 floors of steel

So from that view, will it cover up a majority of the Fifth Third tower?

Just inspected closely and it seems that it will cover the whole Fifth Third Tower except for the top of its antennae/spires!

I was clearing out my old photo (film) archives and came across this - thought some might appreciate the blast from the past. I'm not 100% sure of the date but definitely before Fall of 2005 because the KeyBank logo hadn't been hadn't installed yet. Also, the first photo posts in this thread show demolition starting in 2004 but beyond that, no clue on the date. The billboard atop the corner building was a leftover from the days when savings accounts actually earned interest worth mentioning.

^Yeah, that's wild.

^^ It appears that they are doing renovations to the outside of the Arcade in that picture. If my recollection serves me correctly, the Hyatt bought and began renovations in late 2001?

^^^ 14.75% mortgage rate considered the best! What a different era we are in now where 4% or less has been the norm for over a decade.

I'm guessing it's a rate on a credit card and they are advertising it for being low. The stock market only averages around 10% over the past 100 years, 14.75% doesn't sound possible for a federally insured cash deposit besides in a period of extreme inflation.

This is correct.  I don't ever remember savings accounts paying that much interest in the early 2000s.  If they did, i would have bought up some long term CDs.

Good point, I may have worked for a bank but never on the financial side.

They actually opened on my birthday (May 1st/May Day) in 2001 so guessing this pic is from 2000ish.

More pics from the way-back machine, including from MayDay....
