Some iPhone photos of a tour I took today. So here are some take-a-ways.    1. The balcony level is fully leased and currently has a five year waiting list. 2. The color schemes of each

That view definitely gives it a different vibe......I'm still waiting till its done to figure out what camp I'm in, but it will get people talking, thats for sure!

I'm kinda liking that...are those white panels permanent I wonder?  Don't recall seeing this panel schematic in the renderings, but I like how this looks at least today that is.

No, the white is still the wrap

Was driving up 176 today and across the inner belt bridge and it gives me a wavy pattern from the distance and even in the pics above.

Dang, I like the wrap that’s left on this building lol.

Yes, a definite wavy pattern in this pic; almost looks like the pic is fuzzy.

The undulating skin, when complete, will create a sense of upward motion as it gets lighter on the upper floors. Ultimately, the undulating motion and graduation from dark at the street level to lighter as the building meets the sky will make the building appear taller than it actually is. This building will really make its presence know in the skyline.

The Beacon looking very contemporary with its wavy vertical lines reaching upward - a very nice addition to the skyline beyond left field as seen during today’s Indians-Yankees broadcast.

FWIW: Spoke with somebody whose brother has a friend that is doing window and panel caulking

at the beacon. According to the caulkers the building is already slightly leaning a couple of degrees.

Is this Normal? Is this possible 2 years after construction started on top of the garage?

That would be a catastrophic situation like the one in San Francisco;  https://www.businessinsider.com/is-millennium-tower-safe-still-leaning-sinking-2017-9

Yes it does. Great perspective with Hilton and Beacon in shot. Seems we already forget about Hilton.

^ now that is a fun angle!

i am liking the panels. it is sweeping and eye catching, but in a good, muted way.

not sure how it will look at street level vs the old parking garage base though. i totally agree that the costs of replacing garage glass and matching it up probably were not worth it to pass along to the residents. it seems a strange and unavoidable mismatch, but  it could just as well turn out to be funky and cool looking in a good way, so maybe lets give it a break for now and reserve judgement on that until its done.

Only at street level. From most angles the garage is obscured  by other buildings so it doesn't bother me in most cases.

I live next door. It bothers me, haha.

Out for a short walk today and it's peeking out from all over!

The most unusual aspect of this building are the winged corners. Not sure what to make of it.

It definitely plays into the movement aspect- reminds me of like a rubix cube or something (my mind's failing me on something more creative/artistic right now haha).

The shifting movement is more lateral than vertical as some have posted. The lighter color scheme  give it a more vertical aspect. So there's kind of a balancing between the two. I don't care for the plastic look of the colored tiles. I was expecting a more metallic, coppery luster from the renderings.

Don't like panels. Looks dated to me.Maybe the choice of colors selected but at same time I'm shade blind.

Edit: I thought it was going to have have a metallic look. Well that was what I had pictured in my mind from my bad memory.

Agreed. So many tan/brown buildings already downtown. This was a perfect opportunity to change it up.

It was too bad that the City Planning Commission killed the initial panel color blocking.

^ Ugly but at least it went up right?

I am torn... I agree we need to break up the brown/beige/grey downtown.  But that original color scheme REALLY contrasts against the glass on the garage in a weird way...

I honestly was SHOCKED that they went with the color scheme they have now. Mainly due to the garage already being glass I assumed they'd keep that same scheme.

Nice density shot from the river on Sunday - also the Rock's new glass atrium.

Maybe now that there is more recreational activity on the river we can put some effort into improvements between the water and the downtown street level.

Never saw that angle before. I walked in that tube long time ago to go to a Indians game in 95 if I'm not mistaking it for something else. Never saw it from the outside.

What is that old fort looking structure with filled in windows at bottom ? Interesting whatever it is.

Ha!  Same exact thought.  It's ugly...oh well...at least we have added density in both skyline and population.

Would of made most sense you would think. The way they did it the building is in "stark" contrast of the garage.  To be honest the garage looks better. Crazy.

Once they fully unpeel this beauty one might think it was built in the 60's or 70's. It looks like big pimple on someones face you can't help but look at when trying to talk to them. No wonder it took so long to build it. It's looks like the last girl to be asked out to prom...

Over exaggerating a bit.

Seems like I might be in the minority here, but I don’t find the panel design/color scheme ugly in the least way. And I imagine it will look really interesting and dramatic when illuminated at night. We shall soon see.

I'm with you for now... but I think weathering could make the coloring turn for the worst within a few years.

As with most projects, I suggest waiting until the project is complete before making a final judgement.  Although we all have a different view on what is aesthetically pleasing.

I always appreciated the design concept with the panels, but from the beginning felt the building was too short/stout to pull it off.

I agree with you there. Something along these lines would have made a heck of a lot more sense: http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=185023

Right lol. It looks like a cool city built atop Mayan ruins.

In some cases, that's not too far off...

(Inside and out) it looks really dated on the inside. I was hoping that was also part of the Q upgrade in some way.

Oh yeah, this isn't a TT/Fieldhouse/TC thread lol whoops.

Reminds me of the walkways of Hopkins airport (and who can forget their outdated baggage terminal) . Off topic sorry. I couldn't resist.

I always wondered what used to be located in the boarded up window section of the structure under the walkway shown in the photo

@musky That was the first level (technically sublevel) of the Cleveland Union Terminal's  signal tower that had a switching mechanism with 576 control levels to control as many switches and signals from Collinwood to Linndale. BTW, at the time, it was the world's largest switch control mechanism. BTW2: I took that last photo in December 1980.

I'm guessing something for the old train station but for what purpose, I'm not exactly sure.

Edit. Thanks, KJP!
