Maybe we could get Billy Joel to redo "We Didn't Start the Fire" with but with different Cleveland development projects.

  • To do that, we would need to refurbish the May Company building with hundreds of residences, turn Tower City into a massive business incubator with some high-profile tenants, add another high-rise apa

Some iPhone photos of a tour I took today. So here are some take-a-ways.    1. The balcony level is fully leased and currently has a five year waiting list. 2. The color schemes of each

Cover his alimony payments for a year or two and he might just do that for us!

Looks to me like they have. The panels are slightly reflective, so the light colored panels pick up a lot of blue from the sky.

I quite like how this turned out. I still think it would have been great to have had a color we don't have much in the skyline like a blue or green or yellow. Basically anything other than shades found in common stones or bricks, but I still like the shades of brown.

It adds a pop of modernity to Euclid Ave. In 10 years when we have a few more modern towers we're going to have a nice mix of old and new along this corridor. It'll be really nice.

I agree with jmicha, although I'm not at all disappointed by the color. I really love the "pop of modernity" as he observed. It has such a unique presence on the skyline that, despite its modest height it adds a lot of interest and an uplifting  spirit.

The view heading east on the inter belt bridge is really impressive.

It fills a void in the skyline I never realized was there

Didn’t even notice the crane til you mentioned it

Lumen should be about as tall as where the crane is now.

The Beacon’s account says the first tenant moved in today. Wow.

I figured something was up....they were really working on finishing the lobby last week

It's fine.  But they need to do something about those yellow columns in the middle of the tower.  Paint them black?

I think that's still in-progress. Looks like insulation/protective sheathing/etc.

The only rendition of Paint It Black that's necessary....

Taken from Twitter - its great to see the Beacon balance out the left portion of the skyline as seen from the lake.

Cleveland's marketing photos have no doubt improved!

I hate to ask a stupid question but   -  Is the lobby on the ground floor of the parking garage

or is it the 1st floor ( 8th or 9th ) floor of the apartment complex?

Ground floor of the garage.

An assembly line of apartment  units! Keep pumping them out.

There is a lobby off of Euclid as well.

I can only imagine that the noise level and commotion will be unbearable for the tenant until after the building  is complete.

The design of the website makes me cringe and the photos look like they were done on an iPhone by someone who didn't know what the hell they were doing....but there are interior photos up on the site.

Lobby looks as bad as the website.

Lol. I love the photo of the tissue box.

The lighting beneath the Beacon sign also looks odd to me because it’s not spaced evenly. I assume they did it purposely, but it’s just even enough that the uneven spacing looks accidental.

Keeping thread on topic.

Um,  Exactly what part of Cleveland is that night time shot on their website?

Upper East Side, duh. ?

I'm going to take a tour either today or sometime next week. I'll snag some more photos and might do a video highlight as well.

Agree on the tissue box photo.

It it looks like the lighting is aligned with the letters. It’s a bit odd that it comes off the corner of some letters and the center of others, but the latter do have curved bottoms.

Does anyone know if the balcony level is going to have the two white strips light up at night still?

I love this project and its street presence, but cannot stand all the visible mechanicals on its roof when viewed from the north.

What exactly is the open 22nd floor ( 7th floor ) from the top.  Is that some

mechanical floor.   Is that floor to remain open ( and waiting for an accident

to happen ) or will it eventually be enclosed?

Also, the first floor above the the parking garage - will that

ever be enclosed?

Those are apartments with balconies. If you look at the renderings you'll see people handing out on them. I'm pretty sure the level that's open below the building is still part of the parking deck so it'll most likely not be closed off.

I thought it was some sort of recreation floor with balconies...

From a 2016 Cle.com article on the project:

“The most noticeable - and complicated - lighting feature is on the 21st floor, the only floor where residents will have balconies. Renderings depict that floor as a band of light at night. Katherine Faulkner of Nadaaa said the designers are working on ways to ensure that the tower is illuminated to stand out without causing disruptions for tenants.

‘It is probably our biggest design challenge,’ Faulkner told the design-review group.”

As for the lowest level, it should get closed off next. If not, it’d be a bit of an eyesore... renderings show the glass bit of the garage facade extended upwards to meet the cladding.

The signage fits with the off center shifted design theme that building is trying to convey. It's odd in a good way. It's what makes it unique.

Flew into town because my father had surgery last week and took these while I was there.  These where taken at Metrohealth on W. 25.  The Beacon is in front of Erieview Tower in the pics.

This may be old news, but I just walked past and the lobby area is open and staffed. Looks good.

Taken the other day. I thought it looked great from the street with the sun shining down on it.

If they're not going to do anything with the glass around the parking deck..I hope they at least repaint the faded red beams.

I went by the other day and you can see the windows on that upper level/recreation floor- I'm sure it'll be more apparent once a railing goes in.

@Keelung to Cuyahoga

welcome --- nice shot there -- i know some don't like the tower is a mishmash with the parking deck, but that is actually one thing i like about it and that angle is a reason why.
