June 8, 20187 yr If my counting skills are correct, the floor they're just starting to put the "roof" over is the inset one.
June 8, 20187 yr They're starting actual work on the bottom floors! LFG!! That would be the fireproofing material going on the structure; and while I may have been at a bar - the only shots involved were the photos I took. Now later this evening may be a whole other story ;) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
June 8, 20187 yr Best way to get us back on topic - photo update on the construction :) Back in the day when the topics of discussion were whether they were going to tear down the Breuer tower and surrounding buildings or not, or if/when the Schofield building would ever be finished, this is the kind of scene you'd have in your head when you would wake from a lucid dream and think 'awwww man! it was just a dream....'
June 8, 20187 yr Best way to get us back on topic - photo update on the construction :) Haha, sorry for getting off topic. That second shot is amazing.
June 9, 20187 yr Do the midges have any effect on it's construction? I wonder if there'll be a slight lull over the next week or so where you can spot someone taking time to scrape 'em out each day. There must be a couple floors in all the buildings downtown where encased midges technically making up a fraction of a percentage of the structure. It's a somewhat silly, but genuine question.
June 9, 20187 yr There are a few photos of 515 Euclid from David Petkiewicz of the PD from the 58th floor of Key Tower. You have to scroll down a little bit to see them. Go to: https://www.cleveland.com/expo/erry-2018/06/6db63bb51a7808/88_awesome_telephoto_views_fro.html#incart_m-rpt-2
June 13, 20187 yr Wonder if anyone can explain what we're looking at in this pic Are those pre-fabricated exterior panels? Is there some type of finish that gets applied or are they pre-finished?
June 13, 20187 yr I sure hope some kind of finish will be applied over those panels. They look so cheap and unfinished.
June 13, 20187 yr Time for a teaching moment. :) Here is the rendering: I don't know the exact material but the rendering and verbiage from the architect's website indicates a metallic finish and glass paneling system. No brick, but what you're seeing currently *will* be covered. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
June 13, 20187 yr Oh, it's all glass?? Didn't know what the façade consists of, just was saying the overlay on top of the panels is how it's usually done. Thanks for the teaching moment MayDay
June 15, 20186 yr My own contribution from yesterday. It looks like they're up to the 14th floor of new construction, meaning they have only five floors more to go until they top out. June 16, 20186 yr A less seen/talked about view, but from 490 this fills in a big gap in the skyline quite nicely.
June 17, 20186 yr ^Apologies for the photo quality - taken on 490 with my phone at about 55mph and my stubborn husband wouldn't stop in the middle of the highway so I could get a better shot. ;) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
June 19, 20186 yr ^Overheard at lunch today that they're jumping the crane tm. Won't happen until they have delivery of the additional crane sections. Once you see those set up on Euclid, get ready for liftoff :) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
June 19, 20186 yr Here's a view from Section 555 in Progressive Field from last night ... helps fill in that gap nicely!
June 19, 20186 yr WOW what a great picture! If NuCleUs ever got built I believe it would block this view?
June 20, 20186 yr No. That open-sided parking deck you can see would be replaced with a larger deck with the high rise(s) to the left of it. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
June 24, 20186 yr Does anyone know or have any night illuminated construction pics of 515? I think buildings under construction with incandescent bulbs look great at night.
June 24, 20186 yr Took the dog for a walk - I will get one from the Euclid side next time I'm out. https://imgur.com/a/yt1Fg8A
June 24, 20186 yr Those are some nice quality photos my dude! I think the Cool White look really sells it!
June 24, 20186 yr Took the dog for a walk - I will get one from the Euclid side next time I'm out. https://imgur.com/a/yt1Fg8A I live right next to the Beacon and I've never noticed that its illuminated at night. :-\
June 26, 20186 yr Four more floors to top-out. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
June 29, 20186 yr Getting set up to jump the crane: clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
June 29, 20186 yr ^That section is being hoisted into place and two more sections just arrived. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
June 29, 20186 yr Kind of crazy to me that they need to do all that just for the remaining floors lol. Sh*t happens
June 29, 20186 yr Oops, I spoke too soon - there's the section from this morning, and a total of four waiting to be installed for the jump: clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram

July 1, 20186 yr A few photos taken by my father yesterday. EDIT: can any mod help me resize these images?
July 2, 20186 yr Here ya go MuRrAy HiLL[/member] this one's definitely the keeper. Nice view up Euclid.
July 2, 20186 yr Thats my favorite view...making the turn from Ontario on to Euclid. Its such a change!!
July 2, 20186 yr I have a dumb question about cranes. Why do they not just start the project with an extra section in the crane to avoid jumping it later?
July 2, 20186 yr ^If I understand correctly, it's a matter of the crane operator's view of the construction materials/workers. If they built the crane to max height, it sharply reduces visibility. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
July 2, 20186 yr Isn't the crane also attached to the building for stability? "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
July 2, 20186 yr ^ I bet visibility is probably biggest reason. Another would be safety. The crane is usually anchored to the building, and having the top too far above the working structure could make it unstable. edit: KJP beat me to it.
