Hiya folks.  I've been doing all I can to delay completing my master's degree in cartography, but the time has come to try to get this crap over with.  My "research" (cartography is really junk science sometimes) aims to assess in what ways aerial photos, such as those in Google Maps, can actually be useful as maps in online settings, as opposed to just something cool to look at.  The means by which I am doing this is something of a user test in which I have people perform short tasks on different map types.  Part of this is done entirely online to (I hope) generate a fair amount of data in addition to some more detailed surveying I'll do with smaller groups.

 

Anyway, I'm looking for a population comprising regular users of online maps, and I think most UrbanOhioans qualify.  So please, I beg of you, if you have 15 minutes (max) to spare, help me out by completing my survey.

 

Maybe some day I'll give you a cookie in return.  The good kind, not the internet kind.

I know this isn't a good sampling method, but like I said, it's kind of junk science anyway.

Thanks everyone so far!  At some point in writing my thesis I'll make some composite maps showing how people's responses differed between the map types (for each map location you see, the type of map you got is random) and will post them here.

 

Hayward, if you still care, don't bother to restart- it didn't log your info but it wouldn't be an exact repeat if you started again.  Thanks for the effort, though!
