April 22, 20241 yr I hope Playhouse Square will maintain all the Greyhound signage on the exterior and are allowed to keep that as it's keepsake venue name

The Greyhound blade sign is more an integral part of the overall structure than most regular blade signs.

Greyhound is shedding its stations nationwide as cost savings. Many are being torn down and Greyhound is operating out of glorified bus shelters, often outside city centers. Cleveland is lucky PH was able to get their hands on this landmark.

June 25, 2024Jun 25 ^ yeah, that definitely looked like nonsense. we have the same going on in nyc sometimes. these guys plan these stupid stunts out on social media. sometimes its harmless goofing around, but sometimes it dangerous or like lets all go flash mob rob the louis vuitton. i dk wat can be done to prevent that kind of thing?

I thought it was established that they were moving to the STJ Downtown Station.
August 9, 2024Aug 9 At least it's away from the projects; I can't imagine the riffraff will migrate to Brookpark. And I'm glad the Greyhound isn't closing completely, which was always a big concern. Plus it's not like RTA cares if people pay to get on the red line, so travelers will have a free trip. Call it a soft win.

How shortsighted.

Call it a soft win. My thing is if they are building a new $12 million transit center to house this when they have much bigger issues is a problem to me, especially when STJ is still relatively new. Now you're stuck with a new transit center that is underutilized just to build the west side version of it. Also $12 Million to build a new when the Superior Rapid station is an utter EMBARRASMENT is crazy.
August 9, 2024Aug 9 Should I assume this is in conjunction with the potential Browns move? Or completely separate? I am not very knowledgeable with the transit world so forgive me

There's an actual confirmed tenant in that area with a rebuild of the station. None of the bulls**t fluff from those Jimmyworld presentations, but rather a provable, revenue-deliverable tenant. We have to cheer all the real wins, not the vague and generally broken promises.

The STJ pork is an embarrassment, especially with Megabus ending operations, but i recall there were significant space challenges for a Greyhound relocation.

For the Red Line to serve a new stadium site it would require a new station. It wouldn't be from the Brook Park station. To me this move to the Brook Park station makes a lot of sense, it's right off the highway and people can just just hop on the Red Line to get downtown or the Airport. 59 minutes ago, TBideon said: The STJ pork is an embarrassment, especially with Megabus ending operations, but i recall there were significant space challenges for a Greyhound relocation. I could never figure out the need for the STJ "transit center." It should eventually be demolished along with the Wolstein Center when redevelopment of this part of downtown becomes a thing. August 9, 2024Aug 9 ^I suggested that at one point. i think it's a great idea. Another benefit is that a majority of the land is already publicly owned.
August 9, 2024Aug 9 ^ add a proper deck over the highway and bingo the old juvenile detention center would have been saved and converted into a very cool event partyville central. waah.

But also with a massive development like the one proposed, it'd sure make a lot of sense to put in Transit Oriented Development nearby, not a bus station/parking lot. There's only so many stops on the Red Line and this lot is a huge development opportunity.

A pickup and drop off area, micro retail storefronts for travelers/tourist (quick bites, tourism clothing, a help center etc. which could maintain foot traffic and it is close to rail.

Yeah, Kerry McCormick was disappointed and responded by saying CSU students depend on the bus and it's already a bus stop as is so he's confused on what the problem is now.
