Posted September 26, 200717 yr I just made it to Chardon as the sun was setting and in time to grab dinner at a (packed) downtown Italian restaurant. I was really impressed by the small town which is very similar to Milan, Ohio. The fabulous Geauga County Courthouse sits on a rather large square that was host to live music the night I was there. Most people had moved on to Sebastian's, however.
September 27, 200717 yr The courthouse is spectacular, and its tower is wonderfully ornate. The copper roof must be new; it hasn't started to weather at all. Looks like a very pleasant, well-kept town.
September 27, 200717 yr Love the courthouse, the tower looks like one from a fairytale. Cute downtown, and in good condition! :)
September 27, 200717 yr It's nice to finally see pictures of Chardon without 100 inches of snow on the ground!
September 27, 200717 yr Not bad. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
September 27, 200717 yr That clock tower must have cost a pretty penny. It's good to see that someone is still willing to spend money on quality materials. (I believe I saw a shingled dome in another recent thread)
September 27, 200717 yr It's nice to finally see pictures of Chardon without 100 inches of snow on the ground! I was thinking of the title "Chardon, Ohio: Seat of the Snow Belt." Anyway, nice photos!
September 27, 200717 yr Chardon is very picturesque, retaining a vaguely New England-like look reflective of many towns in Northeast Ohio--originally of course settled as Connecticut's Western Reserve. Great place for viewing the fall colors. Also noted for maple syrup production, in the spring the Geauga County Maple Festival is held in Chardon. http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
October 15, 200915 yr A few years ago. I want to say seven or eight, they did major work to the clock tower to take off the tarnish. That is why it looks so new. No pictures of the new wal-mart? what a travesty.
October 15, 200915 yr I have to venture out to Chardon every now and then for work. It is a nice little town. Highway access sucks though... and the comments about being in the heart of the snow belt are dead on - you don't ever want to try to find your way back to CLE from Chardon in a snowstorm. What we consider a storm, the local consider a sprinkle.
October 27, 200915 yr Looks like one of the very best small towns in Ohio. It is nearly perfect and well kept.
February 29, 201213 yr After the events of yesterday, I realized I couldn't remember what Chardon looked like and was fortunate enough to find this post. Looks like a surprisingly beautiful and well kept town. It would be nice if the rest of America could see this as well and not just the horrible images.
