You’ve been on fire recently. Obviously a good thing with all the development happening around here. Can these new research facilities spur new companies and jobs for the area?

The Clinic's previous research activities have caused this, so I wouldn't doubt that more will be in the offing.

Cleveland Clinic unveils next phase of Innovation District

By Ken Prendergast / September 28, 2023

In the midst of a global pandemic, state, local and Cleveland Clinic officials in 2021 announced the Cleveland Innovation District to expand health care research. Today, as part of that initiative, Cleveland Clinic unveiled the first phase of its expanded research facilities and announced plans to launch major construction of two new research buildings. The state-of-the-art facilities will be dedicated to scientific investigation and will significantly increase laboratory research space on Cleveland Clinic’s main campus.

yep and in the pop culture world too — their opinion was sought when the boss canceled his tour just yesterday because fan griping about dynamic tix pricing and static setlists gave him an ulcer: 😂

Springsteen ended the announcement with a personal message, writing, “Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support. I’m on the mend and can’t wait to see you all next year.”

According to the Cleveland Clinic, peptic ulcer disease “occurs when open sores, or ulcers, form in the stomach or first part of the small intestine. Many cases of peptic ulcer disease develop because a bacterial infection eats away the protective lining of the digestive system.”

East 100th Street north of Cedar is now blocked off for about 100 feet to the entry to the parking garage that fronts on Carneige.

Also, construction fencing up on the north side of Cedar both east and west of 100th. Took a pic of the equipment on site and in use on the eastern parcel.

Gotta give the state of Ohio credit for this one.  They helped prevent this from going to Florida and it also seems like as a result of the investment corridor several companies are landing here.

When I mentioned this a couple of years ago, nobody here believed me.   I think at one point the Clinic was even calling it "Dual Hub" (not to be confused with the proposed Euclid Ave. transit line) as they wanted to grow a Florida base for research and such.  I guess this other research base would have been located at Port Saint Lucie, which is still likely to grow somewhat.  Cleveland really dodged a bullet there.

Craniac!

Dual cranes now up and running at the NE corner of Cedar and East 100th Street (future site of the eastern half of the pathology center).

Went for the panoraric view just to get all 4 Cleve Clinic cranes in one shot!  This is looking northwest 7 floors up from the corner of Qunicy Ave. and East 93rd Street.

Cranes on the left are for the new Neuro building and those on the right are for the pathogenic research building.

Is this from the Juvi building?   It seems so close to the Clinic in this shot.

You can actually see a fifth crane to the right of the Patho cranes.  I wonder if this is for Cole Eye or Library Lofts?  I'm guessing by the type of crane it is Library Lofts.

The 5th crane on the far right is the self-erecting crane at Library Lofts.  I believe the Cole expansion has only made use of telescopic cranes and maybe a crawler.

I actually had a dream last night about a 6th crane going up on Opportunity Corridor.  Hopefully in time but man I am a nerd.

^ Well l don't dream of buildings when l'm sleeping but l have to admit when l'm trying to fall asleep one of my go to thoughts is how the Cleveland skyline is coming along. Nerd.

Does anyone know if an architect has been selected for the Canon Research facility?

One more… pretty neat to see the Fairfax Market advertised on every TV screen around the Clinic

While I'm not a fan of enclosed walkways, there is something nice about that scene -- a guy strolling along in his bathrobe 😁 and scrub pants in the walkway to infinity while a Cleveland snowstorm swirls outside.

I am also not a fan of indoor walkways but I do think they are appropriate at hospitals.

Looks like there is still a ways to go before the Neuro building is topped off.

Cole eye expansion, I think...

CCF hasn't even acknowledged where it's going to go yet. CCF can be a very slow, bureaucratic organization -- especially when it comes to real estate. If they have a bad quarter financially, they act on that rather than their needs over the next decade or two.

They currently have plans to build a training facility in Mayfield.

Cleveland Clinic saw downtown having two cranes at once (SW & CC) and got jealous obviously

Clinic has four cranes up, not including the Library Lofts crane.

That's huge news, confirming things we sort of already knew that have been dribbling out over the past year or so. Like the research center and the Canon Healthcare USA move. Canon must like to do things without photographers, balloons, and grinning politicians hanging around.

Remember: It's the Year of the Snake

Posted last November in a thread that hasn't gotten much traction since.
