we knew the news, but its interesting to see it from canon’s pov.

also interesting to see the clinic has 77k employees and canon 180k. of course not all the clinic employees are on the cle campus, but i had wondered just how big an employer the clinic is.

$5 million gift will support Kulas Hall renovation, scholarships at Cleveland Institute of Music

By Peter Chakerian, cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) announced the single largest single contribution from a couple in the institution’s history on Wednesday night, revealing a $5 million gift commitment from Kevin & Kristen Stein and Family.

Described as “single, grand, and historic gesture,” the funds will support the school’s ongoing Second Century Campaign and caps CIM’s recently completed centennial plan, Blueprint: 100.

The gift will support several CIM initiatives, including the renovation of Kulas Hall (slated to begin this summer) and endowed scholarships.

Bumping this since the article was the second-to-last post from the bottom of the previous page...

If it’s not up yet, a 3rd tower crane is coming for this CID project. 5 total just for the Clinic. Crazy.

Lots of progress for the new Neuro and Research buildings!

Don’t know whose terrible idea this was to put this massive blank wall at Euclid and 105. Maybe it’s Bobby’s 3rd billboard location.

Not saying this is the case but that blank wall may be the surgical suites. I spent 5 years doing research at the Cole and typically surgical suites don't have windows. I thought l read that with this expansion they were also going to expand surgery so they may have put it in this new building.

does a sheikha rank above a sheik? or is he just, like a funny sheik? 🤔

From Wikipedia:

Quote

Historically, female scholars in Islam were referred to as shaykhah (Arabic: شيخة) (alt. shaykhat). Notable shaykha include the 10th-century Shaykhah Fakhr-un-Nisa Shuhdah[17] and 18th-century scholar Al-Shaykha Fatima al-Fudayliyya.[18] In 1957, Indonesian education activist Rahmah el Yunusiyah was awarded the title of syeikah by the faculty of Al-Azhar University, the first time the university had granted the title to a woman.[19]

A daughter, wife or mother of a sheikh is also called a shaykhah. Currently, the term shaykhah is commonly used for women of ruling families in the Arab states of the Arabian Peninsula.[20]

It's unfortunate to see that the city patched the damaged brick crosswalk with asphalt. 🤦‍♂️

Unfortunate, but totally unsurprising.

When the concrete is patched on Euclid doesn't RTA do it? If so wouldn't they had been the one to fill in the brick work?

Clinic’s megaprojects construction are on time
By Ken Prendergast / September 13, 2024

Cleveland Clinic’s three major construction projects at its Main Campus near Cleveland’s University Circle are progressing on or close to schedule, according to a Clinic spokesperson. However, at this point, it appears that any follow-on projects at or near the Main Campus may not be happening for a while, according to two sources familiar with the Clinic’s capital planning.

Well that sucks. I know Dewine was in Mayfield today for some kind of Canon training facility.

That would suck if Mayfield got it. Wasn't Cleveland supposed to announce a new company coming to the city?

Speaking of the Neurology Building.

Also I'm assuming that since the Medley Phase 2 is on hold the leasing is not going very well.

Mayfield already has it thanks to Canon acquiring QED...

https://neo-trans.blog/2022/12/09/canon-takes-aim-at-cleveland/

The question is will it follow through with plans for more, and where will more be? I've heard rumors Canon could take over Phillips Healthcare's huge facility on Miner Road near Highland Road (Highland Heights).

The Neurology building is going to be pretty big.

I went to the Medley's website and it stated that there are only 4 available units left. At the same time they are offering 2 free months of rent for no Clinic employees and 4 months free for Clinic employees so I'm not sure if it is going well or terribly.

Clinic’s next big parking garage reveals growing pains
By Ken Prendergast / November 17, 2024

The largest structure on the Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus isn’t the new 1-million-square-foot Neurological Building on Carnegie Avenue. Instead it’s the 1.56-million-square-foot East 89th Street Parking Garage just west of the Neuro Building. And immediately west of that, on the former site of the Cleveland Play House, Clinic officials are reportedly considering another large parking garage that has transit advocacy groups calling for healthier options.

They should start building these garages to support potential apartment buildings a top them. Sell the rights to developers to defer the cost of the garage. Developers save on not having to construct parking or a foundation.

Pushing the Clinic to build more housing seems like it'd be more effective. Just scrolling around on Google Maps, you can see all the vacant lots in neighborhoods around the hospital.
