Yes, the Brewery District CURC is working with the Port to salvage them. No current plans for reuse as of yet.

Was always hopeful this could have found a use. So few of these left around town anymore.

Whats frustrating is that a determination on its fate was made in days. Was it in such poor shape after the fire that it had to be demolished? Was it collapsing on the street?

I have heard the biggest issue is the ground to the west that's holding up the apartment building. It has (I heard) started to shift after the collapse because of the huge pit below the street level.

Speaking of Mt Auburn demolitions, 2001 Auburn Ave is being requested to get demolished.

Info in the March 8th Historic Conservation Board packet, starting on page 76: https://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/buildings/historic-conservation/historic-conservation-board/march-8-2021-staff-report-and-case-materials/

The property has been landbanked by The Port, and the packet includes this statement of support from The Port for the demolition:

Quote

The development plan that St. Francis/Neyer are currently working on will create marketable street-front retail, in addition to new residential units. This will both return an unproductive location to contributing and add significant residents and businesses to Mt. Auburn. Therefore, as the current owners of 2001 Auburn Avenue, we not only support the application for its demolition, but we have agreed to be co-applicants for this Certificate of Appropriateness.

2153 Vine St is in the process of being demolished.

The property has been owned since 2017 by an LLC registered to the same address as Queen City Jewelry & Pawn (7935 Reading). They also own the building immediately to the south at 2149-2151 Vine.

Welp, 2151 Vine also came down yesterday, after I took the photo yesterday morning. Photo from 30 March 2021:

Driving down Spring Grove today.....saw Powell Valve is coming down.  Drats.

After removing the modern facade, the beautiful brick and limestone underneath was revealed. One last peak at that beautiful work.

Thanks for the pics. Even more sad to see this all go.

Is this the Port tearing it down for future use/land bank? Or are there plans?

Here's a shot I grabbed in March 2020 shortly after the demolition was announced:

2270 Vine St (just a bit downhill from Inwood Park) has a falling cornice and the City ordered the installation of a plywood barracade. An emergency demolition was ordered today: B202200293

Based aerial photos, it appears the roof has been totally open in spots for several years: https://wedge.hcauditor.org/view/re/0930002001900/2021/aerial_imagery_full

I see the City has been pressuring the owner for years, but it's crazy to me that the roof just sat open to the elements for years.

130-year-old Price Hill mansion likely doomed to demolition

A 130-year-old mansion in Price Hill likely will be demolished as Cincinnati City Council members signaled their intention Tuesday to reject a bid to designate the building as a historical landmark.

Council’s housing committee voted 3-5 on Tuesday to landmark the building, with Vice Mayor Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney joining council members Jeff Cramerding and Mark Jeffreys in being in favor of the landmark status. Because the full council has nine members, that means unless someone changes their mind, there will not be enough support to landmark the building at the full City Council meeting tomorrow.

Only Councilman Greg Landsman is not a member of the committee.

The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati wants to acquire the Schulte mansion at 4122 Glenway Ave., demolish it and build a $3.5 million youth workforce development center, which would be next door to its West Price Hill club. The organization said the building would be too costly to rehabilitate and use. The decision has drawn the ire of Price Hill residents, who say the structure is historically significant.

It amazes me that the statement "it would be too costly to rehabilitate" is even used here. Then don't buy it. Find somewhere else. Find an empty lot or a vacant nondescript building. It's not like Price Hill is bursting at the seams. There's vacancy everywhere.

It's actually amazing how often this happens, Cincy or elsewhere. Some nonprofit gets its eyes set on some historic building, then uses the financial hardship arguments against rehabbing it and therefore needing to be allowed to demolish it. This should be blocked at all costs.

Apparently Price Hill Will not only found other options, but some are closer to the school in the neighborhood and would be free. It seems like BGCGC is intent on this spot only because it is next to their existing building, even though that one faces the wrong direction! It feels like they are not really thinking about how to serve this community in specific, but the broader area in general.

I just noticed that the roof of the Davis Building (1119-1125 Main) has partially collapsed.  I checked the online records for the building... and turns out it was approved for demo "Per orders from the First Disctrict Court of Appeals". My understanding is that the City has decided to NOT appeal to Ohio Supreme Court. The notes from the pre-demo inspection on Feb 25 imply that demolition is imminent.

Anyone have any current news on the Davis Furniture Demolition? Just curious if they had progressed from where it was this past weekend when i walked past.  Do they seem to be working overtime during the week to get it done and the streetcar opened faster? When i walked by this weekend there was no one around and the site was "closed".

Saw it this morning. South building is pretty much down. They are taking the top floor off of the north building.

They seem to be working on it during the day Mon-Fri. Not sure if they are working on it on Saturdays.

At this pace its probably another 10 days to two weeks.

Thanks much. Too bad there isn't a time deadline or some sort of streetcar penalty in the demo permit. It also looks as if keeping the streetcar running wasn't even considered in the permit granted in February, only maintaining the road/pedestrian access and not damaging the shelter stop in front.

Nothing new, but this popped up in my head today and it is crazy how many places in this video are either gone now or entirely remodeled and unrecognizable. It is like a who's who of former places and was just filmed 13yrs ago. Even in the quick flashes they managed to catch things like the red cross building and demolished skywalks. I'm calling it the Three Doors Down Effect. God Save the Bellevue Hill Park Pergola, i hope they didn't doom it too!!!
