As with most of my Oktoberfest photos, they are usually lacking in quality.  See the problem is that I usually have some of Cincinnati’s finest Christian Moerlein in my other hand and we all know that is no way to take quality photos.  I was very disappointed that by the time I made my way to the Christian Moerlein booth, all the Fifth & Vine beer was sold out so I settled for some fine OTR Ale.  It was amusing to see the line at the Erdinger Biergarten since Erdinger isn’t even one of the highly regarded beers.  It took me 40 minutes to get a beer from that stand.  With 500,000 of my closest friends surrounding me, a beer in my hand and my daughter pulling on my shirt for a delicious Schmidt Haus brat, I was just happy that my Nikon didn’t suffer from one drop of spilled beer.  In a week I will get a taste of the real thing while in Germany for three weeks.

Makes me miss home!

edale, did you move?  I thought you still lived in Evendale.

Nice photos. I wasn't able to go but I was there in spirit.

Nice! Bring on light-up...

^ As in "Light Up Cincinnati"?  ;)

Yep - I love light up pics.

I was there on Saturday afternoon and enjoyed some Christian Moerlein myself!  Very nice.

Very nice!  It was a fun festival, as they all are.

I'm at school in D.C. at George Washington University. Urban Ohio has helped with the Cincinnati withdrawl a bit...

Oktoberfest Zinzinnati is only for one weekend.  During that weekend more than 500,000 people visit, making it the second largest Oktoberfest in the world.

I'm majoring in Political Science and I do generally like DC, but it just feels that there isn't really much of a local culture.  I went to a Nationals game and there seemed to be no passion about baseball, the Nats, the Stadium, etc. It seemed like most people were just there to be there.  The museums, public transit, restaurants, and nightlife are all great though.

Oh and if anyone is ever in DC on a Bengals game day, make sure to go to 17th and I.  There's a great little bar (forget what its called) but it's solely Bengals fans. They serve threeways, have a dj for during comercials and to play the fightsong after touchdowns, and 2.50 bottles of Miller which is pretty cheap for DC.

Wow, I never would have guessed. I guess because they're a newer team. Before that I think most people in DC were Orioles fans (or fans of another nearby team).
