Posted October 2, 200717 yr On Sunday, my family and I did the Downtown Living Tour. I had been to a couple of them in the past and like the previous years, the weather was perfect for walking the streets of Downtown. I took my camera with me on this tour but I didn’t focus on the units themselves. This gallery reflects on many of the views these units offer plus I took many street shots that I didn’t have before. While walking around the city, I realized how little I have photographed Race Street in the past. Alas, here are the photos:
October 2, 200717 yr Not bad, not bad. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
October 3, 200717 yr These are great...I was around for a bit helping out with the streetcar informational set-up at the McAlpin...thomasbw and I stumbled on over to 14 E. Fourth and got a very Manhattan-esque feel with that one (especially with the unit on the 9th floor). All in all, the tour looked to have a GREAT turnout and I think that the dining portion was a great addition.
October 3, 200717 yr The Dining portion was terrible. Don't get me wrong I love dining, I just wanted to tour the beautiful homes of the city and when you remove the dining stops from the 21 overall stops, you were left with a slim list of condos. For $15, it wasn't worth it, especially compared to the previous years and the Over-the-Rhine living tour. The restaurants that were on the tour offered very little and in reality, we are only given little time. If I stopped off to have a beer in every restaurant on the list, just to try their one scallop, and bit of carrot cake, etc... I would have seen very little of the condo's that were available. I say for 2008, keep the restaurants off the list, lower the price to $10 and add more condo's & townhouses.

I have to admit that I thought it was odd to add restaurants and wondered how that went.
October 5, 200717 yr Where/what is this windowless wonder? I'm really really starting to like the Kroger building. I think seeing the Teen Vogue building on The Hills so much might have helped. :-P
October 5, 200717 yr ^I don't like this Kroger Building (looks white): But I do like this one (looks silver): I've never bothered to walk up close enough to see what color it is for sure, but I've always hoped it wasn't white.

I think seeing the Teen Vogue building on The Hills so much might have helped. :-P This is at the McAlpin. I really liked the units, but they really seemed overpriced. Also, on the patio there are 2 balconies that have very weird placement. One is directly behind, whoever took this picture. It just seems like a weird place for a balcony i also enjoyed the edge. . .i think that those units will be very neat when they are completed.
October 5, 200717 yr The Kroger building is definitely white, but for some reason, when the sun hits it the right way it looks silvery-ish. Not sure why.

October 7, 200717 yr The Kroger building is definitely white, but for some reason, when the sun hits it the right way it looks silvery-ish. Not sure why. Seriously? I could've sworn that it was silver. How weird. Someone should call Kroger Corp and get a precise answer because it's probably something odd like cotton, tinsel or leche colored.
October 7, 200717 yr Agree, I thought it was silver too. I will have someone close to me go check it out when she goes to work on Monday.
October 7, 200717 yr I got to see the Shilitos Apartment building for the first time last night...and I must say that the building is AMAZING!!! That open atrium type area is gorgeous and the layout of the entire building is just great. The units also seem to have a good layout to them, plus they have some very cool features thanks to the old style architecture (ie high ceilings, huge window ledges, hardwood floors, etc).
October 8, 200717 yr I wish this had been going on when I was in Cincy two weekends ago I absolutely love going on urban home tours like this. I did one in downtown Galveston's historic district a couple years ago and had such a great time. Thanks for the pics!
