October 3, 200717 yr Rando what camera do you have again? Surprised I didn't run into you. I was at many of those spots. I use an EOS Canon Digital Rebel 6.3mp (SLR). I primarily use a 28-200mm Tamron lens w/UV filter. As for the locations...I got there probably after you did. I had a night class that let out around 8:30pm and I had to get my stuff together then head out. It was roughly 10pm by the time I got started...my downtown shots were taken at around 11:00pm, and I went from Price Hill to that nabe near Devou, then Covington riverfront and finally downtown.

October 3, 200717 yr Nice streetscapes showing a lively downtown! The only issue I have with some photos is blur, mainly with the Roebling bridge shots. But outside of that, some could use longer exposures.

No, you know there isn't a Light Up Cleveland, just a "Light up Three Smokestacks" night. Rando, if that is a Canon Digital Rebel, you need to get with Chris. It is either broken or your settings are all off. Your compositions are good, but there is way too much pixilation in there for such a quality camera.
October 3, 200717 yr ^It looks like a high ISO and/or a high contrast filter in a photo editor, but not a broken camera. I agree with montecarloss, the subjects are good. Night shots are extremely tough without a tripod; even with an extremely steady hand, the shots will come out blurry. I did enjoy the set though, as I was out of town and could only see the city though ESPN's eyes.

October 3, 200717 yr Yeah, your ISO is probably on 800 which is almost always unaccepable for night shots.
October 3, 200717 yr Depends on the camera and sensor size. ISO 800 can be acceptable if it is for general photography, and if you don't want to do absurdly long exposures everywhere you walk. On some cameras, like the Nikon D3, ISO 25,000 will produce large format shots with very, very little digital noise. In comparing noise, my Nikon D70 has an unacceptable level of noise after ISO 800 to its maximum of 1600.
