More and more, I’m liking that the tower wii be set back a block off the square. Think it will add to a more open, expansive feeling for PS, with the barely there “Shack” (at least) not getting in the way.

And I like how it will position  the tower  slightly more to the west.

As others have said, this is going to completely transform the feeling around the square and the sense of completeness there.

I tend to agree with you. I just wish the shack was more well connected to the tower. The setback itself isn’t too dissimilar to 200 PS.

Yea, the comparison to 200 PS is fitting.
SW and 200 will be bulky brothers, protective Guardians on either side of the square,  as the elegant TT and lofty Key Tower reach skyward.

City leadership didn’t want 200 to exceed the height of the TT and so it’s massive square footage was designed accordingly - and you get some of the same sense with SW - almost a conscious effort to not dominate the skyline as it surely would have if it had been built on the smaller Jacobs lot.

I guess it is unlikely there will ever be another tall tower built downtown, comparable to height of Key Tower.  SHW was the best chance for that.

Exactly. 8 years ago a prominent agent with CBRE stated there would never be another high rise corporate HQ developed in Cleveland. That same year a prominent developer in his 50s at the time stated he would be dead by the time Cleveland started to see the construction of residential high rises as rents were too low beneath the $2 per square foot rate... but here we are and he's still alive by the way.

Too bad progressive went with building giant campuses out in the east burbs. With their growth they could have easily built a huge tower comparable to Sherwin

I'm surprised that Progressive can get and keep good young talent being the in burbs.

Shall we get back to Sherwin-Williams?

So about the "shack", I wonder if there is still a possibility for some revisions or is it a done deal?

In hindsight, I certainly hope the building facing Public Square could still become more publicly accessible/friendly, but I think that size building leaves PS as more of an inviting community engagement center.  Plus, having the tower on the lot behind it, I hope helps brings life and better connectivity between West Prospect and West Superior to West Sixth, and even helps connect West Third.

Any chance Mr. Goncalves looks at that open parking lot and thinks, hmmmmm that would be a great spot for a new headquarters?

I'd love it - but I don't think Cliffs needs it at this time, maybe Ken can correct me

Haven't heard any rumors in quite a while.

Back to SHW -- I am surprised that work crews closed off the entire Superblock parking area, all the way to the SE corner of West 6th and St. Clair. I figured they would close only the portion on which the new multilevel garage would be built plus a little bit more for staging equipment, materials, etc. I guess SHW figured that since they own this whole thing, they'll use the whole thing for construction and staging.

Just wait until the Rockefeller lot closes sometime next month...

Large tower crane pieces are sitting in the parking lot that was newly fenced off on the corner of W 6th and St Clair Ave.

Pics or it didn't happen.

@MayDaythose look like ground level photos. Don't you have access to the UO VIP lounge?  😂

Parking craters?  More like oceans!  Can’t wait to see them go.

Nice catch, MayDay!

Loving these cranes, it’s looking good! They’re working on Saturdays so this might go up faster than we expect, I’m pumped for CLE!! Enjoy the pics!

Crane-Berry in all her glory!

Took the kids to the aquarium this afternoon, then walked over to Nautica Pavilion to snap a few crane shots...

Great perspective to show how the new tower will balance out the skyline.
