  • Oh, here we go.  Weird...   I did a quick Photoshop from Mov2Ohio's "Top of the 9" shot.  Tough combining a drawing with a photo, but for what it's worth...

  • Not to braaaaaag but I believe I have the furthest shot Sherwin-Williams construction photo ever taken (not from a plane). This is from Point Pelee in the southernmost point in Canada in Leamington, O

Is this straight  crane only used for the base portion and different crane will rise with the tower?  I ask because I thought these types had height limits of 500' or so

The tower crane in MayDay's photo will rise with the HQ tower's construction.

^looks like there are several more sections in the NW section of the parking lot.

Where does the crane stand with respect to where the new SW Tower is to be located?  I'm guessing in the center of the west elevation.

This angle reminds me how perfect the placement of the tower is. I was originally confused why it wouldn't be on the Jacobs lot, but the skyline symmetry here is gonna be 🔥🔥🔥.

Too many crane pics? No such thing!!😝

Latest on the foundation today. I'm a little shocked that the concrete on the crane’s  base seems to be intruding onto the foundation area, as seen by the caisson to the right, basically touching the crane base.

Just like we most recently witnessed with the Lumen, once construction reaches a certain point, this crane will jump to continue upward. https://lewisbuilds.com/anatomy-of-a-crane-jump

It’s that close cause as the tower rises taller the crane willl be directly attached to it.

It's even visible from our offices on the 26th floor of 1111 Superior! Well, barely ... 😉crane1.thumb.jpg.73e5560ca0ba281408482b51e448509a.jpg

my office used to be up there. miss that view

Rode the No. 3 on Superior from AsiaTown to Public Square yesterday evening.  Let me tell you, the view to the west where our skyline once had a huge hole that’s now filled by a massive tower crane made this guy a proud Clevelander 😎

Yes, I understand that. I’m confused by the crane’s  base, as it is diamond shaped and juts into the foundation as seen by the caissons on either side of it. I guess when they finish pouring the foundation it will melt into the Crane base.

Exciting!  As someone who was in college when good buildings came down to construct signatures like BP and Key, it's exhilarating to finally witness something being built where the promise of Ameritrust was never realized.

Congrats CLE!!! You deserve this win!

They probably don't have any concrete grade beams cutting through where the crane foundation is.  I'm guessing the finished floor slab will just float over top of the crane foundation, which works here since there is no basement and no rooms requiring underground plumbing.

Whoa, whoa, whoa…the Crane is going to be INSIDE the building?! 🤯

Thanks guys! This clears up my confusion. I didn’t really realize Cranes could be inside skyscrapers. The Lumens was outside. I thought Key Tower’s were too.

Key had two of ‘em, right in the middle.

So did the new Sohio headquarters (now 200 Public Square). Photo is by Thom Sheridan in 1984.

I've never seen so many crane photos in my life and I've been to Dubai.

@ColDayManIn Cleveland, We really know how to celebrate our new skyscrapers!

Hell, it looks like every one and their mother had two cranes up inside them. I hope Sherwin isn't feeling...inadequate...😏 🤭

@MayDay    I hope you don't mind I added in the tower to your image

Makes you wonder how many gabs could be filled in our skyline if every remaining parking lot had a high rise/skyscraper.

(Given our skyline from looking from the east side looks pretty filled)

Hopefully we will see some of those gaps filled in in the not too distant future.  I assume a tower at 4th & Prospect would fill the gap to the right of 200 Public Square from that vantage point.

Various shots from around town. The crane helps visualize how much the tower will really change the look of downtown from much of the near west side. (8-3-22)

Great pix! It is kind of a bummer to lose the annual Euclid-henge where the sun set lines up in the Euclid Ave building canyon, but this is the best possible replacement for it. And it will be visible year round instead of just a few days. This alignment feels like yet another advantage of the building being west of West 3rd instead of on Public Square.

We'll still have Solstice Steps in Lakewood.

Can’t wait for this to go vertical soon!

well there is always euclidhenge sunrise, no? it might even make the sw hq light up on that day when it gets blasted by the direct morning sun like stonehenge does. should be interesting!

That sunrise reflection will be cool.  Overall can't wait for the splash of glass SW will give our skyline.
