  • Oh, here we go.  Weird...   I did a quick Photoshop from Mov2Ohio's "Top of the 9" shot.  Tough combining a drawing with a photo, but for what it's worth...

  • Not to braaaaaag but I believe I have the furthest shot Sherwin-Williams construction photo ever taken (not from a plane). This is from Point Pelee in the southernmost point in Canada in Leamington, O

Weston had a great vision for the Warehouse District.  I'n not sure if they are still a possible candidate for SHW to start facilitating with in getting the remainder of the site developed.

So this would be right about where phase 2 would go. Any thoughts? Not saying it means anything, just curious! From tonight.

you know what, i still really, really like the lake erie waterfront view of cleveland. we all have our favorite views, but thats always been mine.

from a boat.

but apparantly sw doesn’t think its enough of a skyline to use in their commerical, because at 0:36 they use seattle’s waterfront skyline view.

i mean, if they wanted a more prominent cle skyline view … 🙄

just sayin! 😀

Yes, they are taking ground samples to see what they have to do to build a 200-300 foot tower. These are my thoughts. 😁

But what the hell do I know. 😜

For what it’s worth, the drill is back over on the main lot today and has been moving around to several spots next to / surrounding the main tower.

It’s definitely interesting it was in the other/future lot before. Makes you wonder - and cross your fingers!

Hate to burst your bubble but there is no discussion of the second tower. I asked around and everyone on the job seems to be pre-occupied with what's already under construction. And they are already behind schedule because of the lack and cost of supplies, especially concrete.

Maybe when the first phase gets to interior finishes, the second tower will be revisited. But things are pretty crazy in the construction market right now.

What will be interesting to see is, when people start moving into the new HQ, what will SHW do with their leased spaces in the Skylight office tower and on Hinckley Parkway? Will SHW keep Hinckley? Will they move them downtown to Skylight? If they move them to Skylight, does that represent a Lilli pad jump closer to the future second tower? Or might Skylight be abandoned by SHW and Hinckley staff moved only once? Or never?

So, why are they drilling? 🤔

They're drilling shafts for the structural steel and reinforced concrete. The shafts being drilled farthest west are for the core of the HQ tower's podium.

Its almost hard to fathom how much contiguous surface parking there was just a short time ago. Even though we have a lot left to fill, this is incredible progress.

^ And it's hard to fathom it existed for as long as it did.

What a great shot of the city. Thanks for posting it.

Also great perspective to show the much-needed balance the development will provide to the skyline.  Can almost feel the weight of the existing buildings tipping the ground to the left.

There's another joint planning/landmarks/design review meeting coming October 6 to review the Sherwin Williams Headquarters' final design details.

Any chance they add balconies?

What can I say. It's a slow day.

They're adding another 200 feet! Amazing.

lol kidding.

The rooftop greenspace next to the Farrell Building tower is quite impressive.  I'd love to see something like that here; would our local climate prevent any of that?

Too tall

Windows are a little too big as well.

I like the trailer hitch in the front. Easily towed when SW makes that move to atlanta or charlotte

Right then, back on topic. *in proper British accent*

just call it a mast and it will count in the height. ask the wtc for advice lol.

I'm not sure what's coming out of the ground. Is that the main tower because it seems really narrow from front to back.

Elevator and stairwell shafts is what we’re looking at.

Yep, the building core. This will rise ahead of the steel and the steel skeleton will connect to it when it starts to be erected.

Looks like the jumping concrete formwork is in place and it's really going to start to rise now.

Sherwin Williams released their planned presentation for the joint planning commission meeting on Oct 6.    There is not a single bench to sit on surrounding the buildings. Only minimal "leaning rails" and "seating rails"   I don't get why they are against people enjoying the grounds

Let SW build their fancy tower, the city can install real bus shelters and seating when they're done. 🥱

I'd rather focus on the improvements the committees have been able to push SW into, in particular, the East end of Frankfort.

I'd be surprised if they approved this. benches and the sidewalk interactions along w6 were their biggest concerns and shw didn't even address either

It's a not so subtle way for this known to be security conscious company to reinforce that public interaction with the building is not a priority for them.  We knew this already.

that's fine, but it still needs to pass the planning commission. it didn't pass last time and Sherwin didn't address the commissions concerns.

I would not be so sure.  There has been little to no push back from either commission to date for obvious reasons.  Maybe now that the headquarter building is a sure thing some members will actually grow some balls and not politely suggest things but just vote no.  They do it all the time to small time homeowners and businesses.

I'm not saying taht until this building is 36-stories up with working bathrooms and a front door!  😆

This is the largest structure at this location in decades.  Glad to see it coming along.
