February 20, 20232 yr Someone made the comment earlier that you don't get the true sense of just how large the building is (even at this point), until you're standing near it. Having been downtown on Saturday evening, I can say just how true that comment was. It's quite impressive to see it up close. I can only imagine what it will look and feel like when it's complete.

February 21, 20232 yr Folks, there are established standards for determining height (spires count, flagpoles and antennas do not, etc.). Those of us who have been tracking this stuff since before some forumers were likely born remind you of the following: Key Tower - 948’ to top of the spire, 888’ to the top of the pyramid Terminal Tower - 708’ to the structural top, the 70’ flagpole does not count toward the official height Sherwin Williams - 616’; not 618, not 650 - 616’ clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
February 21, 20232 yr I can't believe I was off by 1' for Terminal Tower. I'm slipping... "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers

If you look closely, there are crane sections on both the north (likely for the garage) and west sides (possibly for the tower - just above the SUV in my pic) of the site. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram

February 22, 20232 yr I wonder when we will start seeing the facade getting installed. From the timeline they share on their website; if they are on schedule, it looks like it should begin in April.

February 22, 20232 yr We UO members evidently have become SWH construction addicts. A little fix each day keeps us running. Hopefully, there is another large scale construction project underway when this one ends.

February 23, 20232 yr I just love SHW for staying in Cleveland and building such a beautiful building! May their company live long and prosper! And many thanks to all you photographers contributing your great photos for us to enjoy! Really interesting to watch! Edited February 23, 20232 yr by Larry

There is a small section erected last spring in the lot at Scranton and Carter roads in the flats.
February 23, 20232 yr ^ oh right i forgot about that --- is it still there? i see a lot of these and that one is quality i tell ya.

February 24, 20232 yr For sure - and one of the added benefits of the Superior bike lanes will be breaking up that mountain of asphalt on Superior.
February 24, 20232 yr They are setting the forms for the 12th floor of concrete. Also, check out the crane. Looks like they're bumping it up. Edited February 24, 20232 yr by Silent Matt
February 24, 20232 yr Are they walling in the tower crane, the portion inside the base of the building, and leaving that portion of the crane there permanently? See Silent Matt's pic above.

See Silent Matt's pic above. Usually a crane is erected in what will be an elevator shaft, mechanical shaft or stairwell. Later, another, mobile crane will be used to hoist all the crane sections out of the shaft and the shaft will be built out as intended. They don't usually entomb cranes in the buildings they built. For safety and to allow the project to be move forward in the area around the tower crane base. Once the crane is disassembled the area will be finished with the necessary steel and concrete and other finishers. Similar to when a buck hoist is installed at the side of a building during construction to get materials to each floor and also transport the construction crews. That’s just my take as a Union Carpenter here in Cleveland.
