You see that view used in a lot of national sports broadcasts as an establishing shot for the city and it never occurred to me until now that SW could have been thinking about getting free advertising into those shots.
National media outlets only know 2 shots. This angle and The "Long Live Rock" sign at the Rock Hall. They throw in an aerial shot of the Rock Hall for a little razzle dazzle. It's annoying lol.

And the obligatory shot of Terminal Tower.

Do you all think the "Future Tower" for this development is the eventual shift of workers from Minneapolis and the Valspar headquarters?

Maybe what's taking them a while to move them is some leasing obligations they have.

It was reported somewhere that the future tower is supposed to be for partners doing business with SHW.

it would be big if they did and  I think Ken offered some insight into it in a couple of his articles. I don't think we have any evidence either way to speculate tho

and possibly mixed use, or also with a fancy 5 star hotel nearby for sw guests and long term staff stays.

i think thats what we heard early on.

Back to that picture...l went to a Guardians game Monday night. Took RTA from 117th station. The Detroit Superior bridge seemed to be mostly dark. Not many of those white lights accenting the arches and no blue lights on the steel structure up top at all.

I get that the city has a lot on its plate right now with juvenile crime but it was sad to see that bridge in the dark.

Maybe a cool solution would be if a local company "adopted" a bridge and paid for the lighting. If it caught on pretty soon all the bridges would be lit up. Now that's some advertising l could go along with.

That view might look a little better if it was from a slightly higher vantage point.

The view from the old Superior viaduct is pretty similar but a little higher up

Thanks. Can you climb up to the top of the jackknife bridge and get shot from up there?  Just kidding.

Not to seem too negative, but I wish the tower was a little more slender and taller. It just seems so wide looking from the east or west.

I love how chameleon this building will be!

Would have been so much better if my husband would have just stopped the car for a few minutes (okay, other drivers might have been annoyed and inconvenienced but helLO, trying to take some photos!! 😆).

Perhaps as you approach the bridge you could launch a photo drone from the car and recover it at the other end.

Seriously, even with a slight blur, your pix are great.

Got a good one from the Fahrenheit rooftop last night. The views from that rooftop are going to be awesome when everything is done.

Would love to see one of these 3D billboards as a part of this project. Maybe on the parking garage?

Does anyone know if they are adding skylights to The Pavilion's lobby?  If so I like that added detail to break up the roof viewing

This last one by @MayDaymakes me wonder about how the new builds will fill in and mesh with the WHD when all is said and done. The tower is just dwarfing those warehouses and it's not even topped off yet.

Hopefully, SW goes forward with its second shorter tower - they were talking around 300 feet - that would help taper the  skyline down more gradually on the west end of downtown.

And how ‘bout  a new residential high rise on that parking lot just north of SW headquarters?

Actually I don't recall SHW ever offering anything concrete about the "temporary parking lot" they were putting in to the west of the building other than it was being reserved for "future development".  No time line and certainly nothing as definitive as what the height might be.  I think any suggestion of height and possible future use has been speculation by us on this forum.  I will say that I continue to be disappointed that this far into the development of the tower there have been no announcements, or even any sexy rumors, about the empty land fronting St. Clair and West 6th.  I thought we would have heard something by now.  It is just such prime real estate.

If they were to build a mid rise hopefully it takes the form of the (Soon to be former) E&Y building in the flats. A hotel of similar size to the Aloft would fit the surrounding buildings with a building the size of the E&Y building would be the best of worlds . Too bad there is no room for that.

@MayDay Thank you for the photo from the Hope Memorial Bridge. You are great at capturing the skyline even in a moving vehicle.  Here is an overlay with a finished tower in it's place

Can someone refresh my memory and tell what is going to happen on the west side where all the trailers and such are stationed in this pic?

Surface parking, to be used for a 2nd phase tower in the future.

The tower is really starting to make its mark on the Valley View I480 Bridge skyline angle!  7ish miles South.  Great pics MayDay!

I’ll have to get out that way soon, one my favorite distance views … hopefully the husband will finally be willing to stop in the middle of the highway! 😁 That said, any of our drone pilots care to snag a photo from that area?

If you're into hiking, there's also a great view from one of the Pine trails in the national park, one of the hills pops out above I-80 - it's a bit off the beaten path but worth it!

Are you certain downtown is visible from that spot on the Pine Lane trail? I frequent that trail and always thought the opposing slope cuts the view too far west to view downtown.

Just down in Cincinnati living vicariously through you all in Cleveland watching this tower grow. Meanwhile we will get a "squatty body" convention hotel instead of something with actual height. Thanks for all the great photos and height progress diagrams.

Sorry for derailing the conversation from the thread like a good mod...

And I think it's actually a little unregistered offshoot of the Buckeye trail, we do reach there from the Pine Lane trailhead, though

Of all the views we’ve seen, @marty15’s shot really shows how this tower will look just about as high as the Terminal Tower from this often shown perspective.

Quite an impressive look for the city!

Nope. The dust adds to the gritty, rust belt, blue collar feel of Cleveland that people love so much.
