Nice pictures of an emerging downtown Cleveland. But one familiar characteristic of most post-pandemic cities downtowns is, where are the people?

If you’re familiar with the vantage point of the photo, you’re probably familiar with the use of the buildings in the photo and that’s the answer to your question. If not, google is your friend and you’re welcome for the teaching moment.

I'm OK with Washington being limited.   Just go across the river to Arlington if you want to see tall towers.

Agreed. DC has its own European vibe. Which makes it unique.

Kind of a two-for-one pic - Playhouse Square and CC/SW in the background... Happening theater district, pedestrians, new skyscrapers rising -

Looks like a major city to me...

Just guessing but from my experience, anything like mechanical floors above the usual habitable are accessed by stairs. For example, the interior of the pyramidal crown of Key Tower is composed of six mechanical floors.

Hmmm shouldn't it be considered 63 stories instead of 57 then?  I know there's offices on the 57th floor.

It's a debate as old as urban photography whether or not the pics should be taken at crowded times (with lots of people in them), or not?

With my own, I've always leaned towards "not".  Others here have different views.   There's room for all.

Most buildings do not top out at the highest inhabitable floor.  Most buildings have mechanical floors above them.  So, it is time to start counting mechanical floors in the number of stories.

I live in Tremont and as is the usual morning routine, Her Most Exalted and Serene Magnificence (my Pug) took me on her usual preferred route to visit her favorite comfort stations and read every. single. pee-mail. Well, then she decided to go a little further north and I happened to see some super cool atmospheric lighting. Gave Her Magnificence her Royal Morning Feast and bolted out the door with camera in tow.

Friday update.

Honestly, the shack doesn’t look too bad in that picture.

Just me or did the renderings make the landscaping seem much more plentiful and expansive? That area looks pretty small.

Not quite there yet. Two more floors should do it. In my next update I'll include indicators on height.

But, it has surpassed One Cleveland Center, so it is now the 5th tallest building.  One more building to go.

Thanks @urbanohio it's etched in my mind for life. The "shack" it is and always will be. 🥰

Thank you to all for posting the construction photographs. One detail that I wish had been happening is the glass on the inset panels were a shade darker than the outer skin.  I don't see these panels providing the "slimming" effect they were wanting to achieve.

I love those "cotton ball' clouds so beautiful 🤗

Please tell me that is not the official name 😱 although it's better than "parking lot" 😉

I haven't seen any photos of the pedestrian bridge/gerbil tube yet. Core structural elements are up. Here's a quick pic from Friday as I was walking past.

This is one situation where I think the pedestrian bridge gerbil tube is appropriate. The only way the underwhelming two story building on Public Square would be worse is if there were multiple levels of garage parking on top of it.

The pedestrian bridge doesn't look as if it has a lot of clearance.  Maybe it's just the angle, but I wonder what the height is?

^ Ohio maximum vehicle height is 13’ 6”, so even if it’s 6’ higher it still only needs to be 20’.

EDIT: this spurred me to check the casino habitrail at Carnegie and Prospect, as even though I’ve walked under it countless times, I’ve never actually noticed its height. It’s marked at 12’ 6”, which means that a typical semi will not actually fit under it.

My hovercraft is full of eels
