I actually didn't know that Cleveland was that visible from that vantage point.  Very nice.

Yeah, I know a lot of people on here love glass skyscrapers, but I'm not a huge fan for this reason.

@CleveFan  I've been wondering about this, too.  It sure seems almost criminal to build your showcase HQ, then immediately block up to 1/4 of the views.  Even a triangular footprint could greatly 'air-out' that grouping.

If you're going to pinch one of my photos without asking first at least give it a like.

If the camera was on the ground, it wouldn't be.  Line of sight from 1000 feet up is about 52 miles.

Correction: 52 kilometers.  For 52 miles, you need ~1750 ft.

So is that why at 300 ft atop the perry monument, you can see ketly tower? 300ft plus 900ft worth of key tower? At just over 50 mi away?

Sry for off topic, wouldve routed this reply to the other thread if I knew how

Mucking about tn as well as a couple spares I had laying around

@Silent Matt  Very sorry, Matt!  I had no intention of pinching credit for your photo.  I'm just not real good at navigating this thing, as in I have no idea how to reply or call attention to the original poster (that was the first time I'd tried the @ symbol, and this is the second).  I should have mentioned it like I did once before.  BIG apologies!  I've removed the photoshopped rendering with your photo, and hope you accept.

Correction:  distance at 1000 ft is about 32 miles, so the camera over Point Pelee must have been higher - maybe 1700 ft.  I use this table:

Apology accepted, friend. I really liked your rendering and what you did with it but just ask permission next time and give photo credit. ✌🏽

Wow, thank you so much for sharing this! I had no clue you could see Cleveland from any point in Canada. So awesome

Today's update. :) Grey shaded structure is steel that's representing the other half of the building if that makes sense...

Sherwin-Progress_11-16-23 copy.jpg

I should also note that there are really only two levels of structural steel left to add. The rest of the roof looks to be a completely different structure type. The red line is where the current construction level is. The yellow is what I'm assuming is the last of the main steel skeleton structure.

Screenshot 2023-11-14 at 2.01.09 PM.png

Based on @ASPhotoman’s graphic, SW is now officially the 4th tallest building in Cleveland - with steel having reached 533’ - Erieview, long the 4th tallest, 529’ high - now our 5th tallest.  Congratulations SW and Cleveland.

20231116_121707.jpg

I am very curious to see how the northern and southern views will appear like from a distance. The reason is the "crown" looks like the structure will be unfinished and visible

A couple shots at about 5.45 am Thursday morning before I drove to Pittsburgh to finish off my trip. I saw the Christmas lights being installed late Wednesday afternoon.

Of course, @MayDay, it's better than the alternative where he actually stops and suggests you step out to get a better shot 😅!   [PS:  I will delete this if you ask!]

Rode my bike down to the Winking Lizard in Peninsula last night for a christmas ale (or two 😉) and capped off my return trip with this vista.

I should move this to another thread - but how was the trail after dark?

It's great! It is decently busy and well lit until you enter Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation at Harvard Ave, from which point I'm fairly certain there is no longer any trail specific lighting. I don't why but the stretch from Harvard Ave to the start of the straightaway along the CanalWay Center is very spooky to me (additionally last week I had to dodge someone who'd driven their minivan onto the trail at about 11pm here 😠).  After that it's an easy ride to the Lock 39 Trailhead where it enters CVNP and switches from being paved to gravel. Cars and street lights along Canal Road offer some light until you reach the Frazee House, from which point it's completely dark. Some of the footbridges within the national park do stick up about an inch from the gravel and could be dangerous at night if they catch you off guard (this also includes all the deer on the trail). If I'm out between 6-10pm I will usually pass by someone every 30-40 minutes or so.

To stay on topic; pretty sure riding up Jenning's Road to the Quigley Hill trailhead is the furthest away you can see downtown on the Towpath. Here's a pic just after that from the other week.

Bye, bye, core 👋

The SW tower is barely taller than the Erieview tower. It doesn't look like its going to be as tall as I thought it was going to be when its finished.

616' vs 529', that's an 87' difference.

Also 200 Public is 658’ so that’s only 42ft taller. SW tower will be closer to that tower than the Erieview tower.

There are still six levels of height that needs to be added to make the slope.

I still want to see them add a "covering the world" globe that adds at least 50' to the structural height, surpassing Queen City Square.  :)

Ask for that atop HQ2

Spoke to a SW employee Saturday at a wedding and they had no clue a 2nd tower is in the works. They are a tight lipped company for sure.

Now you did it.  He is going to go back and tell his boss what you said, it will reach the inner sanctum and they will cancel the building out of spite even if it means employees have to share cubicles. 😉
