@jbee1982  If you look at the drawings, a portion of the top seems to serve more as a windscreen/protective structure, so I assume it's not quite the same as the structural steel.  I may be off a little, but I've outlined where I think the steel construction of the building is now, with RED as structural steel, and BLUE as the "framework" of the roof levels.  So there's still a couple of nice little chunks of height to be added!

The peak on the East elevation is higher. I don’t know by how many feet, but it is significantly higher. The asymmetry of the two peaks makes a much more interesting crown for the tower. I think they consider the East side the front of the tower with the Welcome Center just below. This facade also faces Public Square. The other important factor here is the East facade also acts as the visual terminus of the “Grand Avenue” - Euclid Avenue.

Update on the video compilation I made celebrating our tradespeople and commending SW on investing in Cleveland. Apparently SW freaked out and asked me to take down the video. What is wrong with these people? First they treat the whole tower design and planning process like the Manhattan Project and now that it’s literally out there for everyone to see they don’t want people applauding it? Seriously, some of the most downer/loser uptight wankers I’ve ever witnessed. I’ve been on this forum since 2003, lurked for a year or so before joining, and have been on skyscraperpage/city since 2001. Never seen this behavior.

Oh, I got the same treatment from a developer in Columbus after posting their (public) design update they were raving about. Egos are an annoying thing...

Very bizarre.  I could understand if it was a top secret military facility.  But it isn't.

Well this does not bode well in regards to any information from SHW when it comes to plans for a second tower.  I guess @KJP is going to have to play secret agent again this coming year.

I'm not sure how much of an impact the Bedrock tower(s) will have on the skyline due to the lower elevation in that area.

It’s not like they tried to hide that. They self reported and got it cleaned up. 

This is more of a Sherwin-Williams' business/corporate policy story, rather than an HQ development story. So I posted it at the business section. But it's based on the company's reactions to photography by HQ construction workers...

I am intrigued to see how the northern and southern views will look once completed.  How much will we see the backside structures of the angled crowns.

UO Forumers really gave me the raspberries for writing negatively about this design problem during the early review phase.  I sure felt shushed for suggesting these elements should be covered with a roof or screening element of some sort that would bring full dimension to the shape of the towers, and not deliver the same effect as 668.

LOL, I was told I didn't understand what a preliminary massing is.

 

I do hope it's not visible from the street, but probably yes for those in high-rise towers nearby.

I’m guessing the architects designed it so that from the pedestrian (street) level the open inside of the crown peaks are not visible. However, as the height of your viewing point elevates beyond a certain level (say, high up in 55 Public Square, or in Terminal Tower), you will begin to be able to see into the open peaks because those buildings face the North and South facades. Just a guess.

Kind of like this, but not as elegant or intentional:  1180 Peachtree in Atlanta.

Maybe SHW should have done something like that on the Jacobs lot instead of the shack. It could have been connected to the tower with W 3rd going through it.

Confirming the confirmation. I actually waited all weekend to get this pic because the stupid fog was too dense all weekend to see the top from my window 🤣
