  • Oh, here we go.  Weird...   I did a quick Photoshop from Mov2Ohio's "Top of the 9" shot.  Tough combining a drawing with a photo, but for what it's worth...

If they build a second building does that mean we get to have another thread with 201 pages of speculation and photos? lol

Lol, probably not. Remember this thread started back in 2007 about all the early 2000s rumblings of some tower that would take shape here.

What page were we on when it officially flipped to SWHQ?

Just a screener from a live shot.

We need SW2 and then something on the nucleus site and I'll be happy for a little while.

Oh and those two 500' towers from bedrock/tower city...

From this angle we really need something taller on the east end of Downtown, the drop off is a bit too dramatic.

Yes, SHW 2.  And a 600 footer on the nuCLEus site.  And a tower at 8th & Prospect. And a tower or two at 9th & Bolivar.  And Lumen 2 at 13th & Chester.

And how about one at the parking lot where the Crazy Horse is?

Yeah, that area is definitely in need of some TLC.  Perhaps some mid-rise residential there.  But we are digressing.  We better get back to SHW.

And Library Lofts added seven floors in the same amount of time.

I think we've maxed out the number of different types of skyscraper rooftops there are, lol.

Hey, but they are close to topping.

But with all of the events coming to Cleveland it allows us to always look like a city constantly building lol.

All that remains are a cylinder and something tall and slim that culminates in a dome.

Oh... and maybe something with a giant newspaper folded on top, displaying latest headlines in flashing LEDs for passing airline passengers.

The younger generations may not recognize a newspaper.

Today.

Or the idea that Progressive was once going to move downtown.

Hey Bro.

I’ve always thought of the loss of the Progressive Hg as “The one that got away”, even more than the loss of Ameritrust Center on PS. The audacity of Frank Gehry’s design would have challenged the national narrative regarding CLE’s “conservative” nature, and would have sparked development of the lakefront.

I believe the SHW Hq- whose design isn’t quite so edgy- will have a similar impact on the Square and the Warehouse District.

Great shots, @MayDay !

The first photo is stunning!

Was going to wait a couple days to upload stuff from yesterday's ride home, but here's another angle from down there, and a bonus one from the Towpath

Gargoyles!  I demand gargoyles!

Tonight’s sunset

IMG_3271.jpeg

Right now SW's coloration almost matches 55 Public Square - I guess when those shades are pulled out of the windows, SW will have that slightly darker color we see at the very top, right?

@BoomerangCleRes's shot also makes me hope for a repurposed and reclad Justice Center and better lighting for ErieView Tower and One Cleveland Center, but I digress....

And @Oldmanladyluck's shot makes me shake my head when I see that SW garage that no tower can be built upon.  Shame.....But I "hearted" this post not just

for the pic - but the lead-in comment about the JC.....

Sorry for the separate posts....just wondering if anyone here knows how to update Wikipedia - our Cleveland list of tallest buildings and skyline is out of date.

I last updated the List of Tallest Buildings in Cleveland wiki in October to include SW and CC in progress images. The skyline photos could definitely use an update as you said (maybe someone has one we could use?) - the list itself of tallest buildings isn't updated until buildings (in this case SW) are actually "complete".

Yeah as modern as the tower is that parking garage looks like it was built in 1970. Jeeze. How much more thought and care would it be to at least put up some kind of facade?

Baring that they should at least use some of their color people to put up lighting that could incorporate rotating colors or something. I'm not an artist or anything but l imagine SHW could come up with something fun and interesting rather than this version that looks like an afterthought.

There's going to be a facade.

Eventually the parcels along W 6th and St. Clair will be developed which should mostly conceal those sides of the parking garage.  Hopefully, that will happen relatively soon.

Pretty sure a retail spot is built into it on the main road side.

I forgot that. Now that l think about it l remember talk of very shallow retail spots. Looking forward to the end result.

There are shallow retail spots in the Lumen garage facing Euclid Ave.  Only one is filled -- with an ATM.

^Soooo... this came to mind from that photo...

I'm honestly in disbelief that SW chose the design that they did. No originally and a total knockoff of the Hilton.

^ And that's one man's opinion.

For those of you who are not happy with the SW design, things could be worse.  FNBPittsburgh.thumb.JPG.9ad39762fcb58884de54e43455f1cce5.JPG
